Connected, but No Internet?

Hi all, just got email from Spintel confirming my ADSL username and password for config setting today. I setup my modem, and it says everything "connected". I could see max speed etc, ip etc.

But why internet still not available? Something to do with Spintel?

Have you tried turning it off and on again ?

    • Yeah, factory reset. Hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds until the lights change.

      Never heard of Spintel before.

      • Done that, internet light is on and stable, but still can't open any webpage

But you are on the internet right now?

    • Mobile data mate? Seriously you didn't think of that?

sorry i am using a classic nokia 3310

      • and you didn't think to call your ISP?

  • 1300 303 375 number conveniently nowhere near help pages.

8am - 8pm Eastern call them if it doesn't seem obvious, easier than banging your head off a wall

        Desperate times, Mobile data mate?

  • You have a VPN? PIA? is kill switch on?

    • Nope

Please hold while I transfer you to the next available consultant

    • Yea, I'll wait no worries..

  • Isn't ADSL unuseable as Malcom Turnbull attempts to drain money for the ISPs that pay him for non-working services as long as possible? That was my impression of things but i'm on HFC thank christ.

  • WiFi working? If not try cable connected to laptop. Working?

    • Both wifi and ethernet not working. You can see speed connected, ip on modem status page, but just couldn't get internet connection.

      • What exactly do you see? screenshot?

change ur dns to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

it might work. that way you dont have to wait for ur isp to get its sh1t together

What makes you think random strangers on the internet are going to know, contact your isp.

  • Try network reset.

  • You likely need to open the modem admin page and go through a setup wizard, the ip should be on the bottom of your modem, type it in the URL address bar on your browser.

  • Did Spintel actually say your internet was ready for use?

    • Well, not in that wording, but they did send me the config details… So I would normally assume so.

  • Care closed, spintel fault.. Thanks
