First Time Caller, Long Time Listener

Hi there

I've been a visitor to OzBargain for some time, and increasing in frequency more recently, so I finally decided to open an account.
I have found the travel deals and discussion to be an especially useful source of advice.

I also find this to be a sensible and well-run forum, which is rare these days. I used to moderate a forum in the previous decade, and it was a lot of work keeping the place constructive, neat and spam free. So kudos to whoever runs this place.

Cheers

Did you get dialling tone when you called?

    What happened to the iyaki?

  • Hi there

  • G'day mate.

yes thank you . We all try to post respectable and relevant material on the forums.

    • 😂

      • what?

    • I just read your last post, very respectable >.<

        very respectable >.<

I just noticed my post above got modded as infammatory. Apparently pointing out the 'events' in his 'life' is a no-no.

agree. OzB is the real MVP. Seems most normal folk with a sense of humor are cheap skates….go figure!

    Thanks for the welcome

    Thriftiness is next to godliness.

And be sure to catch up on all the OzB memes…

Then come over to the “Automotive” forum and ask something about washing your new, high yield inventment sports car, that was involved in an accident, in a loading zone, while your passenger felt light headed. It was unfair, because it was the copper giving you a ticket for your fog lights that caused the accident, when all you wanted was your maccas coffee from the window.

You will find some of Australia’s best traffic accident lawyers and petrochemical engineers frequent that section…

Don’t forget to put the 5/4/18 into your calendar. That’s the day @tuzii gets out of the “penalty box”, and we are all having a party to welcome tuzii back…

Ohhh, I knew something was missing…

It’s weird reading threads where the first comment isn’t some inanely thought out, near off topic, -16 downvoted comment from either tuzii or BrodenIt… :D

I like the first time listeners, long time callers that pop up on ozbargain with a whinge or stupid question that can be answered with a google search

  • I've noticed that too on my time in OzBargain Forums, largely contributions are sensible and respectful. Trying to post helpful and respectful commentary myself I think has generally drawn similar responses.

It would be a little bland I think if there weren't some contributors who make witty, clever and well-meaning jabs here and there, which as much as I don't like it when posts are mean or cruel, the posts I'm referring to are all light-hearted well intended humour and are usually received as such.

So called cyber bullying I think has always existed, and frankly it's a blight on the community in which it exists and I think sets the standard of whatever community will tolerate it, but on OzBargain aside from the occasional twit posting a mindless troll I've never really felt like that's occurred.

What other electronic-social forums do people enjoy or participate in? I've found Reddit (very dependent on the sub though) to be mostly more positive than negative, which is a relief to be honest. I.E; not feeling like when you ask a question, or contribute to a post you're going to get insulted or abused.
