Waiting for it to drop below 5400 before I'll consider

  • +6

    Thanks OP bought 10.

    • I bought 24. One for each hour of the day.

  • +2

Open heart looks too busy in my opinion.

Big fan of the el primero chrono classic though (https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/the-zenith-el-primero-chro…

Good movement deco for the price point too

That one is beautiful - it is its own statement.

  • +2

Exquisite. Zenith have won more awards for accuracy than any other watch company.

    • +5

Judging expensive mechanical watches by their accuracy is like judging formula 1 cars by the quality of their interior.

That's not the point of them. The quality of these watches is compared in other ways. If accuracy was really your concern you'd get a grand seiko quartz (+-10s/year)

      • +2

        I am aware of that.

        • +1

I own one, made in the early 1890's before the company name changed to Zenith after success at the 1904 World Fair.

nobody buys them to look at time. You buy them to make a statement about who you are and you watch how jealous others are.

        • -1

You buy them to make a statement about who you are and you watch how jealous others are.

Errr… I doubt many people would be jealous of some showoff lowbrow who still uses outdated technology like this, would they?

I don't recall noticing anybody wearing watch anyway - it's pretty much a care factor zero as far as I am concerned.

      • They've certainly come a long way since https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenit_(camera) :)

  • +2

    Wow what a bargain.

  • That would be USD and then you need to add customs tax?

    • +2

OP needs to add 10% GST (over $1000 threshold) plus a customs fee (probably). The actual price is way OP's price - likely nearer to $6000.

Still, I think that is a bargain for this watch.

  • Thanks OP, bought 2

  • -1

    Does it have B28?

  • +3

I bought 194 of these instead! Much better deal!

  • +2

    Thanks OP!
Great deal, it is exactly what I was not looking for :)

Just buy a second hand Rolex - they retain value much better

    • +1

then you will only attract worn out second hand chicks.

      • At my age that's probably unavoidable

        • username checks out lol

      • +1

        At least they're grateful.

    • +1

Still a crap investment. Buy something like this because it makes you happy.

  • Just buy a Rolex. Noobs don't even know wtf zenith is.

    • +7

Exactly the reason why you would by a zenith el primero and not a rolex…

    • +1

      Just buy it for yourself.

    • +3

Rolex are like Mercs, it shows you are a step up but long way from the top.

      • Do rolex owners drive like crap also??

  • +1

I might buy one when I retire. At the moment my 15 year old casio ia still going strong

  • You have to organise your own forwarding service if you are buying this watch, as Jomashop won't ship aligator watch bands to Australia due to their prior shipping issues.

  • This has a different item number but looks very similar, maybe a different case size or an older model? Not sure but over $500 cheaper at $4968. http://www.gemnation.com/watches/Zenith-El-Primero-Synopsis-… Also add a code MR40 at checkout for another $40 off at Gemnation.

  • I'll Google for it's watch face instead.

  • Only issue is the warranty is a 3 year Jomashop warranty… for that price it better be the Zenith warranty not some shop warranty.

    • They normally cost more than this used, so probably worth it.

  • You will not be allowed to import this watch unless you have a permit to import alligator skin. You can fly overseas and wear it into the country but not actually import it. Alligators are on the CITES list of endangered animals.

    • Which is remarkable; there are 5 million alligators in south-eastern USA.

$700 off with code DM2ZN700, bringing it to $4995 USD

    • Well spotted.
