Products to Sell Via Digital Delivery? How to E-Commerce?

Hi,

I've want to get into e-commerce and sell digital products (eg, software, gift cards) via digital delivery, perhaps even physical products via drop shipping.

Does anyone have experience with this? What products should I aim for? Where to sell? How to source bulk/discounted products which I can resell individually at a decent margin?

Haha.

Thanks!

Some guys on OzBargain run this site:
    https://dropshipsocial.com/

It covers a lot of the things you want to know.
You would do well to do a bit of google work too, and understand what you actually want to ask, as your question is very broad and would literally require people to spend hours to give you a comprehensive answer.

    • Thanks mate! Yea it's a massive question. I'm not looking for polished answers, just leads and ideas :) Thanks for your reply.

My advice is don't attempt drop shipping or actual products for that matter. The usual issues with online selling apply . Ebay fees, Paypal fees, shipping costs, packaging materials, unreasonable customers, reviews, storage. Anyway if you must give it a shot, negotiate a deal with wholesale sellers on Alibaba.com. Make sure you get a sample from these sellers but don't be fooled by their ripoff shipping prices

Sorry, cant assist with ecommerce/ digital.
Definitely about research. Sometimes its a product that you never considered because it is totally unrelated to your interests.

I stumbled upon a product that opened into a niche ,but voluminous I.e. steady demand, market for it and related products.

I'm not going reveal the product as I (naturally) don't want competition. This is not a product/income that will allow me to quit my day job but it's a 10 minute a day (for dispatching) task. I probably could ramp up my selling for like products but, to be honest to you and myself, I'm lazy (also I work f/t and a have a house and 3 kids to manage)

I chose a product which could fit into a $1 auspost envelope. Simplifies the postage process.

I buy from aliexpress and sell on eBay.

Search ebay for stuff that sells well and then look on aliexpress for the least expensive equivalent. But then also look at the suggestions offered by those sites and look at buying and selling prices. (Buy low: sell high).

Currently I'm making ~300% after costs. Which is a great profit. My weekly profit usually ranges between $100-$200. But this with a single seller account and one product. And takes less than an hour a week.

    • Sounds like you're on to a winner! Why don't you drop ship direct from Ali express?

      • Why don't you drop ship direct from Ali express?

        2 reasons-

        (1) the post time factor. there a few sellers which sell the item from China/HK at nearly half the price however people will still buy mine, because my items generally are bought by a certain market of people that "wanna buy it from an OZ seller" so they will buy mine

        (3) the items are so small ($1 envelope) and bought in bulk (100) so my only labour is writing out the envelope, attaching the stamp, placing and sealing the item in the envelope and walking 100 metres (yeah, exercise) to the post box.

really, what I should do is sit down for an hour or so and prepack and stamp my entire supply so that when one sells then I simply write the address on the envelope and post.

        • Sounds awesome :) Why not use Amazon? Don't they do all this for you?

        • @The Wololo Wombat: I guess Amazon doesn't integrate with eBay…. but surely there's a way to automate that process?

@The Wololo Wombat: it's simpler for me to supply the product.

        • @altomic: Wow, great product/business whatever it is. I was selling new & used video games and was making peanuts, gave it up. You have to be so careful with the product & also with your commitment to the business. Someone I know bought up huge thinking they were going to be selling up huge, got a big job at a big company and now has boxes and boxes in her house making no effort to sell them.
