  • Shouldn’t this be classified as a freebie?

    • Only if you know where to get a Vive for free…

  • These need you to have a Vive account. I didn't bother to sign up for one - are they Steam keys or what?

  • Does anyone know if this will work with windows mixed reality headsets?
I know the oculus games do but not sure about vive

Works great with mr sets, install vive port, run steam vr, run vive port from steam vr and need more people to play front defence, great cod fps type thing with bots because no one is playing it or chinese people only
Also just use steam login info for vive port login info when asked for free vive account

    • Hah, I just triggered my back with Raw Data this morning but picked up this deal and will try it out tomorrow. Cheers for the Windows MR instructions.

You have to install all the apps inside the vive port but you run it from steam vr to get to the vive port, op should make it clear that you need vive port to download these games either way

        • Is VivePort another 'home' style launcher like Cliffhouse and Steam VR? Or is just an additional menu in Steam VR like Revive appears?

        • +1

yeah viveport is basically another steamvr type thing except you’re on a long platform with one side being the screen and the other way a walkway to a giant door of light you have to do a silly tutorial as well, it almost feels like inception, viveport within steamvr within mr home

        • Wait… can I play this on my Windows MR headset or is it Vive only?

Also, it is still available free as I just added to my library.

          @Chickfilo:

Yes you can play on windows MR.

Just open the MR app, then open the vive app and launch the game there. It all routes through steam VR somehow.

  • After initial testing with viveport, I noticed my normal steam vr games were messed up after installation, My steamvr games began to stutter hard and give me severe motion sickness
This post is still relevant apparently

this isn't worth it, also vive port starts with steamvr as soon as you install, not exactly what I wanted, I'm going to uninstall for now and look around for solutions

Front Defense is a pretty cool game, especially for VR. Well worth the download!

Got it running on my core i5 laptop with onboard intel card. Turned down the quality/resolution of the graphics but it's still an amazingly immersive shooter.
Love how you have to use two hands to shoot/reload the weapons, and love how each weapon has different actions to reload (e.g. machine gun with a clip, rocket launcher loading the rocket in the back).

Very challenging game and a great intro to a proper VR game.

If i actually had a decent gaming PC to play this it would be way more fun… plus i'd need more space in my study as you actually have to move around to play this.

Go get it if you haven't downloaded it already!
