    • I wanted this too and got this watch and replaced the hardlex with double domed sapphire crystal myself. I also purchased the cheaper model with plastic band and purchased a solid oyster strap. All up about $250.

      • Was it hard to replace the crystal?

        • +2

No, real easy but a little scary taking apart a brand new watch :) The sapphire crystal was about $50 and the tool is about $20-$30 (I already had a case back remover).

There are heaps of videos on youtube on how to replace the crystal, and a couple on this exact watch.

Not an auto, but with the 8% + 6% off on creation's ebay store at the moment this is well below your budget

  • Great deal, but be mindful of long shipping times. Mine is shown as shipped but ETA is up to 22 May.

  • worth paying extra for the Japanese made ones?

    • +1

No, the Japanese made ones aren't made In Japan.

      • Does it apply on most of the MIJ Seiko?

      • Interesting. So what's the difference between J and K model watches? In particular, the ones that say "Made in Japan" at the bottom of the dial?

        • J models are simply assembled in Japan, the parts…etc are all the same. They are made specifically for the Japanese market so quantity of the J models are smaller than the K counter parts. Doesnt really matter but J models do command a higher price due to collectors and the perception that the Japan has higher QC which may or may not be true.

        • +1

J models are simply assembled in Japan

I have spent many hours online looking into this & can't find any proof of that. What I can find is more proof saying that it wrong.

The most logical answer for me would be -

J = Raw Parts made mainly in China, Oversight from Japanese Technicians in a factory not in Japan (which allows the J version to be labeled as Made in Japan)

Generally speaking, watches priced below about ~US$900.00 do not contain enough profit margin to be made in Japan.

Bought one, will be my first mechanical watch.

  • Is this a good upgrade? I only have a semi automatic sea urchin.

  • Awesome!!

  • I have this watch, fantastic everyday watch and very reliable

  • Can anyone that knows tell me why I wouldnt get this over an Seiko Prospex Sea Series Air Diver's Automatic Watch SRPB51K1?

Personally i like the minor look differences of the SRPB51K1 but this is pretty cheap :)

    • +1

The Seiko SRPB51K1 is a 200m dive watch with a screw down crown, and has a superior automatic movement with hand winding & hacking. The Seiko SNZF17K1 is not a dive watch, hence the price difference. See specs here.
It's also larger at 43.8mm, which may not seem like a lot but makes a big difference if you have a skinny wrist.

    • +1

a lot of difference in price if you don't need the 200M and screw down crown, I like the samurai but it's wait until ,a killer deal comes up.

Turtle with blue face and metal band seems to be down to $370 on ebay , but no simlar deal for samurai.

  • Legi question, how can I tell it is a genuine watch rather than a replica? Thank you.

  • Still waiting for the SARB033, as I missed the last one last time :(

  • waiting for another deal on the SNZF15 - went right past me https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/358084

Got the watch today and it's beautiful. The bracelet, though a bit noisy, is very comfortable. Thank you WatchNerd for this fantastic deal!

how long it took for the delivery?

    • +1

Was that with their standard delivery or did you pay extra for expedited shipping?

      • +1

I paid for express shipping! Couldn't wait for the watch HAHAHA. They sent out the package from Ohio on the 16 April and it came to me on 19 April.

        • +1

          Good call!

        • +1

          That is impressively fast!

    • +1

      Wowzer, talk about fast shipping.
I Didn't pay for Express and regretting it now. Says USPS is till waiting for package from a company called asendia USA. 😥

Received mine yesterday but apparently the boxes were damaged and it arrived with no box. They offer $5 off order if you don't need a box or can send a box later when new shipment arrives. Other than that the watch is a gem.

    • Also received no box, user manual.or warranty card.

Otherwise it looks genuine to my untrained eye

The fit of the bracelet is poor, endlink gaps on both ends and the bracelet wobbles around the springbar at 6 o clock position

      Are you happy with yours?

      • I received mine in the post, same deal with no box or manual but I did take up their offer for a partial discount. My watch was in perfect condition but I have noticed that it loses time overnight by a few hours. I generally wear it daily for about 12 hours but granted that I have a desk job, there is not that much movement. I recall there is supposed to be a backup charge of approx 24-36 hours? Is anyone else having issue with losing time on a daily basis?

        • Are taking it off when you go to bed? Is the seconds hand still moving when you wake up?

If you follow the link in my description about the movement it says -

          Power Reserve - 41+ hours

So this means once it's fully wound it should run for 41+ hours.

        • I don’t wear it to bed. What would it take to be “fully wound”? Eg wearing it for a brisk walk for x hours etc? Cheers
