    • Discounts available on Kogan Mobile Prepaid EXTRA LARGE 30 day plan purchased before 11:59PM AEST 30/06/18 unless sold out prior or extended.

  • does this work on those usb modem stick for tablets? or this works only on mobile phone?

    • both

    • This will work on a USB modem, wifi modem, tablet and mobile phone.

    • It works with USB sticks or tablets

  • Can this be used to replace a mobile broadband plan?

A family member has moved to a place without ADSL or nbn.

Need about 50GB of data a month and was considering the $50 for 50GB plan from Optus (incl. double data if sign up before 30/4).

    • Yes, the sim will work in a USB/wifi modem.

  • I find the Kogan deals great value, never had a problem with the network or data speed (I live in SEQ). Can highly recommend the switch - except they don’t offer roaming when traveling overseas. I had to purchase a local sim on holiday which was ok but when I got back to Australia after three weeks not a single text message sent to me landed on my phone after I reinstalled the Kogan sim. Im not sure if that was a network error or technically not achievable. I can be out of range for 2 weeks in outback Australia, return to coverage and all messages arrive at once.
So if you are travelling be aware of the no roaming option.

Surely if telcoms were smarter they can offer this to existing customers but at a premium (say $2, cost of a sim) that way it wont clog up the system, save resources and would not show a false increase in new customers and retention rates in the financials. Who else would be happy to pay say a $2 premium for the hassel?

  • I have the free one from last time about to expire… To qualify as a new customer, wouldn't the license check prove that I'm an existing customer?

    • I've been buying these on sale for months and have been using the same license details ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      • Do you use the same email and login details?

        • I rotate a few emails haha

    • You are allowed to have several different numbers under one name. Each time you create a new number you'll be considered a new customer for that one.

Emails I believe have to be different since it is used to log onto the account. Billing would be a nightmare for an account with several numbers.

How does one use up 23GB in 30 days?

    • +1

      Linux distros…

  • May be a silly question for those experienced with Kogan, but what happens when you use all your data? Do you get charged extra per MB, or does it shape, or just cut off?

  • Cheers TA :)

  • Can you buy multiples of these? I know you can't buy more than one per transaction but do they stop you from returning and buying over and over?
Also do you need to activate using same name it was purchased with?
Thanks in advance for any knowledge!

    • I've read that others have bought multiples in separate transactions, I haven't tried.

I had no problem activating under a different name.

      • Don’t you need Id?

        • Yes. What we're saying is you could have purchased under the name John Doe, but activate under the name Jane Doe. In this scenario, Jane Doe does have to provide ID.

  • How long does Kogan take to deliver, says 5-10 business days but I need it by 28th delivered in Sydney. Would that be possible? What is required to activate?

  • Can I use an extra SIM just for data and other stuff I suppose.

Have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and I think it takes two Sims just the second one gets downgraded to 2G 3G networks

    • Yes it'll work.

      • If I use a micro SD card though in the second SIM slot then no second SIM only one or the other correct?

  • I've activated more than a few times to Kogan and now when it comes to inputting my address it is not found on their search. It seems like it's been blocked. My neighbours address works fine. The coupon code is invalid. Anybody else got this?

    • Yep I have had this happen I just use a different address.

A sim-slut here and in the same boat as Fck, porting in to Kogan again!
I used another home address, but still says voucher is invalid!
Already used a different email, but no success…it doesn't allow me to use another ID verification either
        Too much trouble
        Any suggestion?

          Maybe try a different credit/debit card ?

  • +3

I've spoken to Kogan support and can confirm they "purposely block activation if connected within the last 30 days" but I think it's longer as I have a number that's been away from Kogan for 6 weeks and it will still deny address and voucher code authorisation.

Thanks for sharing this. Finally, how did you get around this porting issue?

    • Keen to hear if you found a way around this too, as I’m having same issues. I believe it has been just over 30 days for me. (Although come to think of it maybe not, as I ported out from Kogan to voda, and I think voda plans are 28days or some 35days) anyway I bought another $10/1GB week voda top up out of desperation, I will try to activate the voucher again and see if it accepts

  • So can I purchase as a new never used Kogan "mobile" this and then activate it and then go onto 365 plan that I have voucher(not activated) for after 1 month?

  • Can I use this to port away from Telstra but then downgrade to like the 6gb per month deal instead at the end of the 30 days? Cheers

    • +2

      Yes

  • Thanks TA, we love you =).

  • Porting on weekend will be fine?

  • It doesn't seem to work. I am stuck at part 2 About You, and nothing is displayed on the page.

I've called twice to different operators and they've stated there is an issue with the website and to check back in 24hrs. This was yesterday. Hopefully it's up and running tomorrow.

      • Thanks mate.

      • the website is still down….

      • Also got stuck on the about you page

        • Still down….. Kogan is beginning to feel like a lousy provider.. it has been days.

        • @sasukewa:

It's back up. Just successfully ported.

  • yes it was up an hour ago..

  • +1

It doesn't seem to confirm your ID details when you activate..seems like you can enter random info and still have service.

  • Website for activation is still down. Horrible experience so far.

Called second time and asked to wait another 24 hours.

  • I have a voucher I can’t use as as SIM never arrived on time. Dispatched 20/04. Wonder if they will refund. I was only here for a week.

  • Voucher is coming up as invalid.

    • Spoke to Kogan. If you’ve ported your number from Kogan within the last 30 days you’re not eligible and will need to get a new phone number.

    • Wait for 30 days to be over, it happened with me so wAited 2 more days and able to port to Kogan again.

  • Can I port my lebara number across to this network?

  • at the end of the month, can I switch to a cheaper plan with less GBs?

    • I believe so but not hundred per cent sure. See above where it was confirmed you can use this and then a voucher for 6GB plan.

  • its been 2 weeks and still haven't received my sim card in the mail

    • Kogan are generally pretty slow with delivery but might be worth you contacting them and asking what has happened to it.
