I am planning travel to Phu Quoc island for 2 weeks from Sydney (mid Nov).
After searching through Expedia (combined ticket & hotel), I don't want transit long hour(10 hours via Ho Chi Minh).
Anyone please recommend me the shortest transit fly to Phu Quoc? Should I rent airbnb or book hotel in Phu Quoc island?

I try to search return ticket without the long transit as I already visited Ho Chi Minh.
Check Skyscanner and search for flights between SYD and PQC for the date you want.
That'll give you the combinations of airlines and flights and show you the transit time for each flight.

There are flights almost every half hour between Saigon and Phu Quoc. Book a flight to SGN and then the PQC flight separately with Jetstar Pacific/Vietjet/Vietnam Airlines.
You can go to phu quoc without a Vietnam visa if you transfer directly in the airport. Do your own research in case this is changed.

If you fly via Singapore, the flight times match up very well. Syd to Ho Chi Minh via singapore airlines, then to Phu Quoc on vietnam airlines.

10 hours is plenty of time to do day activities in HCM
Take an uber/grab into District 1 ($10/ 20 mins in good traffic) and check out the local attractions. Not sure if there's many options to fly direct into Phu Quoc.
AirBNB if staying overnight - again District 1 is the place to be
Be warned that domestic flights in Vietnam are often delayed by hours so try not to book connecting flights from domestic to international
