I saw that they have the rights to the world cup this year, so this is really timely. Hope this helps someone!

  • Does Optus support visual voice message now?

  • Apparently, the $10 off is valid only for 24 months according to the online sales person

    • According to the online sales person that I was speaking to, after 24 months the data reverts to 3gb per month (and remains at $30). Don't know how accurate that is though as they originally had told me that it ends after 24 months and you have to recontract haha

  • +2

Not sure if this is any use to anyone but I'm an existing customer who has been out of contract with them for about 6 months and have 2 numbers.

I clicked "I'm with optus" but I didn't click either "Add New Phone and Plan" or "Upgrade My Pre-Paid to a Plan". I simply clicked on buy now, added the optus sport, filled out my details, used the option to keep my existing sim and hit the upgrade button. Its given me a temporary order number so lets see if they honour it

Did the same thing yesterday and it worked for me (y)

I've just done the same thing. Didn't have an option to use my existing SIM, so was forced to have a new one delivered to me. Other than that, all seems to have gone well

    • I just did this too, interested to see if they honour it.

  • Tried to apply the student discount on top of this deal but it says invalid. Anyone manage to do it? Please let me know if it works

    • I'm trying to convince the chat person that the discount should be valid for this. At this stage they are saying "With this promotional offer there won't be any discount"

  • I put my order through this morning, can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes for my application to be processed and sim to arrive at my address?

  • Hi, I've used a pre-existing number which I converted from prepaid to postplan and it shows that I only get 3gb a month? Anyone else having a similar issue?

  • After a lot of toing and froing with online chat I was able to get this activated despite being with Optus. I was previously off contract and paying month to month but I must have gotten lucky with the right person

  • Im wanting to sign up to this deal, however I want to keep my current number (currently with Telstra), when I sign up and port my current number, do they port straight away or do they port when they have confirmation that you have the Optus Sim card?
I'm wanting to avoid having losing service while waiting for the Sim to arrive.

    • Should happen after you've received your sim.

    • Speak to Optus.
However for me on doing this several times over the years, wait till new sim arrives, insert and follow instructions. Last time Optus said would take 20 min to 24 (suppose worst case) hours. Took 2 hours. YMMV.

    • My wife received my sim today while I was at work. Shortly after my service got disconnected with Vodafone. So I had to go a couple hours without phone service until I got home.

    • Thank you everyone

  • Tried my hardest with two call centre staff ;1 online 1 on the phone) to get the data up to 17gb and both steadfastly refused to play ball. I buckled and said sign me up. Previously I was on virgin for $46 17gig 300 min overseas calls.

  • I signed up, took a few phone calls to finally get my number ported over, but couldn't say no to this deal.

  • Hi Guys, anyone has a screenshot of this offer? Optus has gone made..they put me on $30 plan with 3GB internet and now claiming there was no such offer. I transferred from post paid to prepaid and than to post paid to deal with this shit.

  • Thanks for this one. They still want a screenshot. I am on the way home and I hope that I took the screenshot when I placed an order.

    • I had the same issue, but hopefully now resolved (waiting for actual bill).

They needed a link to the CIS, which I fortunately had in my browser history. Took a while though.

Fingers crossed (for both of us).

      • Update, Sunday 27 May. Plan rolled over onto new one - completely messed up. Optus chat after close to 1.5 hours have finally changed it to a $40 plan (15GB, 300 mins international calls, unlimited international SMS, Optus Sport) with a $10 discount for 12 months - and I can contact them after 12 months to get another $10 discount for another 12 months (apparently they can only do it for 12 months at a time).

They're going to confirm by email, and hopefully this will be the end of it…

        • the same thing happened to me, they moved me to a $40 plan with $10 discount (plus student discount to make it $27). Very frustrating to deal with online chat but like you hopefully it is the end of it.

        • Sorry for the late reply. After contacting their complaints resolution, they managed to get me back on the proposed plan and given 3 months free.

        • So got i touch with optus today and was flat out refused on a number of occasions and including an escalation to the supervisor so looks like im trapped in a plan for 5gb data.

I even linked them the CIS i was given during the signup process but they still refused.

        • @Chirpy: surely you can cancel it if they didn't give you what you signed up for.

        • @RichardSydney:
They even refused to waive the cancellation fee. They wanted $150 to cancel the service.

I'll try again tomorrow online and if that fails head instore.

        • @Chirpy: that really doesn't sound right - but Optus are shocking

        • @RichardSydney: After heading in store and spending an hour on the phone with billing and sales i managed to get the issue resolved thankfully. Now on the plan.

        • @Chirpy: now hopefully when your bill arrives, it will be correct. Mine has excess international phone charges, from when that plan was messed up, so I need to chat with them again (sigh)

Fingers crossed yours is completely sorted, now.

  • Looking at my plan it shows I’ve got 20 gb and 400 mins intl. Hopefully it’s the same next month.

  • Update: Existing customer. In my second month of this deal my contract stayed at $30 but went down to 5gb a month. A quick chat online and they corrected it for me, plus an extra 5gb (I'm not sure if they realised their mistake and were being generous or it went over their head). So that's 20gb per month for $30, including free Optus Sport.

    Winning

    • Existing customer with 2 services. One under contract and one out of contract. Followed what others said above leaving 1 week space between changes. Went through. A few days after each change input received email and text from Optus. Call up. Knocked both back due to being existing customer.

  • Link no longer works. Guess this deal has expired. Rats.
