  • What a chin!

    • what a ching*
      :|

      • It's so sad they have to copy iPhones, especially useless features like this.

I ordered one and made delivery address to
    Mr D Trump
    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
    Washington, D.C.

For his unboxing and review. I'll report back with his opinion.

Love a good deal on the p20 pro if available. Presently $981 on ebay.

    • P20 Pro vs S9+?

      • For me P20 Pro - new grandchild and the camera is outstanding in benchmarks. Like samsung it has a butchered android, but 8.1.

      • The p20 pro camera night mode has been called magic, and it's pretty darn close

  • +2

I have the P20 Pro. It's just in another league compared to my S8 and my dad's new Note. The camera is as good as the reviews say and it's true 2 day battery life. Also the fingerprint scanner and face unlock are both insanely fast (can't say the same for the useless Samsung). EMUI is actually pretty good too, nice per app battery usage control.

I would say the Pro is easily worth the premium over the standard P20.

    • You're talking me more and more into the purchase. Will hold out an hour and if no updates from Lyl my money goes to allphones.

Any downsides that you weren't as happy with?

      • +1

May not matter to most but neither the p20 or p20 pro support wireless charging iirc

        • Hmm no headphone jack and microsd slot (weird that it has dual SIM but the second slot is not hybrid :S)

          What about notification led lol?

      • Literally none except that I would always prefer a device to be running vanilla Android. However EMUI is much less intrusive than he Samsung software.

    • +1

You are comparing to last generation devices. Also devices you can get for far cheaper.

Also negs: no 3.5mm, no water resistance, p20 pro has a bigger chin, EMUI is worse than Samsung Experience, P20 PRO achieves worse benchmarks scores than S9 if that matters to you, has a notch which affects watching videos fullscreen etc, and it's also Huawei which has a proven track record of poor quality updates, poor support and hardware failure. I would only consider p20 or p20 pro if it was $600.

The Pro is IP67 rated isn't it? Any idea why they didn't make the 2nd SIM slot a hybrid one?

      • +1

Well, you're just making things up. It's IP67 water resistant. the notch can be hidden (makes no difference with videos anyway) and even with the notch hidden the bezels are very small. Correct no 3.5mm jack and the chip isn't as fast but the EMUI software is so much better than the Samsung version of Android. Sounds like you just have something against Huawei.

        • IP67 is not IP68. Also EMUI is not better than Samsung Experience, no where near it. If you haven't used Note 8/S9 then it would explain why you have this opinion. It's very slimmed down, has great inbuilt theme manager to make it look like stock, it's much faster and smoother than the P20 also.

        • @OnlinePred:

IP67 is also not "No water resistance". Obviously you just hate Huawei and I just hate Samsung, so let's just leave it at that.

  • That hideous notch though 😑

    • You can hide it.

  • the notch at the top, plus the 1080p screen non-oled. Overpriced unless someone can explain otherwise?

  • Nice to see a phone that has managed to fit a reasonable size camera sensor in.

  • P20 Pro: A 1080p screen + a notch + a huge chin + the worst UX skin for $1100 - Bargain!

  • +1

Although the P20 Pro has technically scored higher for overall camera quality, reviews I read showed that the P20 had more accurate colour reproduction. Personally I'd be happier with the P20 after seeing some actual shots.

Btw Huawei's collaboration with Leica has produced excellent cameras, I used to use a P9 and was extremely impressed with the camera and the colour and contrast in the photos. I still prefer the P9 camera over my OnePlus 5

    • But night mode on the Pro…

  • No bonus 360 camera for the Pro?
