Kogan Mobile Signal Quality or Coverage around Melbourne

Friends,

I've recently seen Kogan 365 day plan - 143.60 per 365 days. 3GB per 30 days.

Currently I'm on amaysim 10$ - 1 GB a month including unlimited national calls/texts.

Looking to port to above kogan plan due to 3 gb. Any ideas, experiences, suggestions regarding Kogan signal quality or coverage around Melbourne city & suburbs.

Thanks for your time.

  • Vodafone vs Optus coverage is what it comes down to, basically.

You'll have to do your own research as to what works best for you.

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/372769 Try this to test the quality in your areas. I got this and found it was significantly better than the Coles mobile (Optus) service I was on. It worked better in many areas, and I was never that disappointed by the original service in the first place.

  • From what I know, Amaysim is on the Optus network and Kogan on the Vodafone network.

  • Family member of mine used Kogan on monthly plans a couple times over the past year. They said data speed was poor.

  • Easy fix.

1 - Purchase a SIM card and 23GB for 30 days introductory offer for a measly $4.90 as it will come with a new mobile number.

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

2 - Insert this into your phone (3 in one SIM as it will cater for all types of SIM)
    3 - Use it for 30 days
4 - If you are happy over the 30 days, then port over.

I understand that your current number may be restricted for use on your current mobile with a new SIM, however if you want to test this, periodically remove your current and insert the Kogan SIM at your common locations to see reception/data.

    Cheers

  • I'm on Kogan mobile in Melbourne.

Its good in the Melbourne metro area - its horrible out in the country. Basically expect to never get 3G or 4G in the country.

4G in the metro area is quick & reliable.

No complaints from me - I used to be on Vodafone back in the day when they were completely crap, its a million times better now.

I did once cross the Nullarbor with Vodafone. I didn't get a drop of reception between Port Augusta, SA and Norseman, WA.. I understand its the Nullarbor but seriously.. Ceduna? Maybe one rest stop along the way?…
