[NSW] Free Presentation: Career Development: A Career Doesn't Have a Flight Path @ University of Newcastle, Sydney Campus

30

People often overlook that there is no direct career path nor crystal ball when thinking about a career. As a survivor of a UN-contracted Bell 212 helicopter crashed in June 2004, Dr David Leaf’s path was far from straight. His career story reveals some invaluable lessons that may lead to a fresh perspective on how to handle any bumps you may encounter along your career pathway.

Even if the progression doesn’t make sense at first, David shows that by embracing every step of your career journey, it will challenge and elevate you in ways that you may never have considered at the outset.

Join the University of Newcastle Alumnus, Dr David Leaf to hear his story and be inspired and challenged.

His focus will be on both career innovations, experiences and inspirational nudges.

This is an in-person presentation, followed by Q&A, at our Sydney Campus, 55 Elizabeth Street, Sydney. It is open to all members of the public. Limited places are available. Registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis until maximum capacity has been met.

  • Thanks for joining. Welcome my friend.

  • You might want to point out that this is a in-person lecture that's happening at the Sydney CBD campus as opposed to a online delivered webinar.

    • Even better, change the heading to point out it's in Sydney (not Newcastle)

e.g. Free Course: Career Development: A Career Doesn't Have a Flight Path (run by University of Newcastle). Course location: Sydney campus.

    • Thanks for your suggestion. This has been added.

  • In what sense is this a course? Is there a syllabus? Are there study material? Any assessment at the end? How many sessions? Does it give study credits?

Or is this simply one lecture?

    • I think it's a one off. Kind of like a TED Talk.

    • Thanks for your feedback. This is a one-off presentation. We've modified the wording a little to clarify.

  • I clicked on the link and went for the Bee Keeping course instead.

    • Probably more interesting.

      A Career Doesn't Have a Flight Path… Unless you're a bee 🐝

    • Would you say you made a bee line for it?
