  • you can't put coffee lake in this right ?

don't think kaby lake works out of the box

guess you need to get skylake cpu for this

heck cannon lake is coming soon

this is like 3 gen behind

Agreed, better off spending 50 bucks more for z370 chipset unless you have a Skylake CPU.

    • You can mod it to support Coffee Lake, however, it's not a very developed process yet, currently has some risk involved but if your into that stuff this could be a good board to work with

        with bios update

        • A noob question, if I buy this motherboard for use with Kaby Lake, is it possible to update the BIOS without the help of a Sky Lake in-place?

          @O O:

          Nope.

        • @zeggie: 😞

    • No, cl only works with z370

  • tempted to pick this up to overclock my 6600k. i bought a board with 4 pin motherboard connector :/

Thats an old board, great if you want to keep using an old cpu, useless if you are building a new pc. These boards are only worth $99 regularly.

  • anyone else getting $79 when signed into ebay?

    edit: dw ebay plus

Iv got Skylake, Kaby and Coffee CPUs.
No difference in real world scenarios between Kaby and Skylake on the same board (Gigabyte Gaming 7) Alot of tests I've done show Skylake is actually better in performance.
Coffee is slightly better on some aspects like spreading the CPU usage to separate cores. Mainly for heavy duty tasks like encoding but other than that, Skylake is still the best value by far! This board is a steal for the price, used to be over $300 when released.

Haven't seen motherboard post for a while, thought it's worth for a budget build.

    • Hey Monstalova,

Hoping you can help me out here!

I'm a bit a of a noob when it comes to PCs, but do you think this board paired with an i5 7600 would work 100%? No bottlenecks (With 8gb RAM) or any issues? I'll be using a 650W PSU and a GTX 960.

Keen to hear your thoughts :)

      • I guessed it's most likely need a Skylake CPU to update the BIO.

      • Like Ballajura said, you will need a Skylake CPU initially to setup everything first in the BIOS. Only then you can use another gen CPU. Not sure if you have access to a friends or even a second hand cheapy to get it started. Then you will have full access to use what you want. There are some MB's that allow you to update/flash the bios by USB without a CPU installed. They are usually high end ones but you could check the manual for this MB and see?

        • I look at the website, and it has Q-FLASH which mean still need skylake CPU but no need for window. It hasn't got Q-FLASH plus

    • You still get higher clocks going Kaby Lake though. Not detrimental by any means but in reference to the old Silicon Lottery stats, only 12% of tested 6700Ks were able to hit 4.8GHz or greater at 1.424V. 100% of 7700k's hit this clockspeed on the other hand, with 62% hitting 5ghz or greater.

Small difference but the extra 200-400mhz offered by the refined node is there.

      • I know what some online tests have read but I've experienced the complete opposite. Overclocked the 6700K to 5.0 stable. Then the 7700K to 4.9 and it was a timebomb. I guess many people found that Kabylake wasnt really an improvement going by the price, as retailers had it at the same price as Skylake within a few months of release some even lower!

  • Damn i have a haswell. missed out by 1 socket (1150)
