Schenzhen or Hong Kong for Clothing Repairs?

Hi, going to Schenzhen and HK this weekend. Will be spending 3-4 days in each. I bought a very nice suede type jacket in Argentina many years ago which I love. Problem is that moths got into cotton ribbing, so I would like to get it replaced with same. If you need to see, here it is: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/150847/60529/e17fac24-…

Should I get it done in Schenzhen or HK. Can anybody recommend a good clothes repair place (tailor)? Many thanks

That is the biggest, furriest, most gorgeous moth I have ever seen. if you get stuck you could try getting some matching wool and using a crochet hook, or large needle, to repair the stitches yourself. You run the ends out, loosely, through the inside of the ribbing on the jacket. I've done this a few times when I've had jumpers that have been damaged.

  • Yes, moths can get pretty big in this part of Australia, thanks for your tip, I really should give that ago before taking the time and paying to get it done “professionally”

    Just a point of note:

    :)

I'd probably get a quote for repair in Australia for comparison before you go over.

  • Definitely recommend Shenzhen, most HK workers go across the border to get stuff tailored as its cheaper.

Lo Wu Commercial Centre)(just outside the train station between hong kong and shenzhen) has a lot of tailors that should be able to help. However, make sure you bargain!

    • Great, thanks so much! Yes, I think I remember that shopping centre near the train station on arrival at the station however I’ve never been in it so far. Will do this time.
