Hi could i get some help with reselling an Amazon purchase on eBay

Hi could i get some help with selling on ebay , i bought a nintendo switch on impulse from the Amazon Australai prime day sales , i have decided i dont really want it and was going to just return it until i read TylerOz nightmare dealing with them here . https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/357942?page=2#comment

So i thought just sell it new on ebay but how do i go about it ? and
do i advertise it as new even though i'm reselling it ?.

As its purchased from amazon australia is the warranty transferable ?

Do i include the amazon reciept with it with my details removed ?

How do i deal with the warranty or just say as is ? or is the warranty tranferable in some way ?

And how much do add to cover ebay fee's , I will be listing it as paypal only.
Any ebay tips will be appreciated

Thanks for reading.

  • Sell through a Market Place like gumtree/fb etc if you are worried about fees.

If the item is still in packaging and unopened then it is still new and unused.

  • Have you read the basics from ebay selling guide? https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling

That depends on your listed selling price. You can use this https://www.fees.ebay.com.au/feeweb/feecalculator . Or just use simple maths in Excel.

    • Thanks i will read those.

Sell the item on Sundays so you can use the $1.10 fees promotion, that's the best way to do it to avoid fees.

It's still in Brand New condition if you haven't opened it.

    • I noticed today when i was look in the sell section on ebay and i have promotional offer Your eBay Free Selling Trial - Sell 10 items for free!

  • I will be listing it as paypal only.

Don't be naive enough to think this protects you from scams. Always send items with tracking and registered post. The Paypal protection exists to protect the buyer not the seller.

Honestly if you don't have seller experience on eBay, Gumtree or FB market is far better choice. Just remember to accept cash and pickup only.

    • Well i was thinking paypal and when shipping use tracked registered and insurance which $1.50 per $100 .I can see thought thats going to make the postage expensive from auspost although i have an account on sendle i think it was a deal on here and i think it intergates with Ebay ?.

  • Did you buy it for $315 from Amazon Australia? Pretty sure there will be plenty of people wanting to take that off your hands, just put it up in the Classifieds, FB Marketplace, and/or Gumtree and take cash only.

I've no idea why people think they have a right to just return stuff they change their mind on. Is there something ambiguous about the word "buy"?

    • Amazon advertise a refund policy. In that case, Amazon contradicted what they said on their refund page.

If a company advertises you are allowed to refund no questions asked then they have to stick to that.

Don't sell it on ebay. Imagine you get an item not received claim and lose your money because the post office stopped updating the tracking or showed it as a different suburb or something else, or, you got a not as described claim and received an empty box back, or, they just did a charge back on their credit card? Ebay is only good for selling low value goods you don't mind losing. Sell it on Gumtree or Facebook marketplace and only accept cash. Take the cash in your hand as well, don't hand over the item until the cash is in your hands (to prevent a runner).

  • I recently sold an item on ebay for the first and last time. Here's a break down of the fees.

Item: Samsung 840 Pro 1TB SSD
Purchase Price: $441.09 AUD from Amazon France
Sell Price: $589.00 (the next cheapest price on ebay was $590)

    Shipping with tracking: $13.80
    Paypal Fee: $15.61
    eBay fee: $64.14
    Total fees: $93.55

    Profit: $54.36

The only reason I was able to turn a profit was because of how good the sale special price was on purchase.
I think I'd rather take my chances with the scammers on gumtree in future.

    • Ouch!

  • Maybe speak to Amazon yourself about a refund first? Then if you are not happy with the proposed resolution, you can flick it off.

But presumably there would be fees either way, so something to weigh up.

    • In response to asking about returning it they sent me an email which said your estimated refund is $315 , but tylerOz had the same thing in his email yet when he returned it they hit him with a 50% of the item returned price as a restocking fee.

      • Reply back and say 'is that the final amount, no restocking fee, etc? Please confirm that is the exact amount, no hidden fees.' (providing you're happy with $315).

That way, you have evidence and a case if something goes wrong.

Very good idea but their reply when icontacted them through email about returning the switch and could they do a deal on the xbox one and i'b be willing to take the residuel money as a credit rather than a refund and here's their reply which left me less than confident.

          Greetings from Amazon Australia.
I understand that you would like to know if we can Price match.
We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry; however, the prices on our website are subject to change. Since what you're currently seeing is a limited time promotion, price matches won't apply.
Although prices fluctuate, our service to you stay strong. We hope to see you again soon.
If you want to return the item, you can return the item. You can return the item.
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to assist you. Have a blessed rest of the day!

        • @Twodogs:

Have you tried contacting tylerOz to find out his outcome (I can't remember if he posted it in the thread).

Once again, if there is any issue, I would be referring to this page and drill in the point that this page says you are entitled to a refund.

@tomsco: yeah TylerOz ended up getting a full refund after a lot of trouble he even emailed jeff bezos but even so when they paid him back the 50% of the price they listed it as a good will gesture ….. And now im never going to buy from amazon australia as if you have problems with a purchase warranty etc i just dont trust the outcome.
And if your read the end of they reply they sent me you can see english is not their natural langage which makes me worry about their wording in an email like " our service to you stay strong " and " If you want to return the item, you can return the item. You can return the item. " not picking on them its just the wording in the reply.

        • @Twodogs:

I agree. For a company of their size, it's very unprofessional.

  • I'll buy it from you.

  • Wow some great replys thanks very much , still unsure what i want to do yet was thinking going the ebay route as i have a lot of impulse buys from Ozbargain over the years and our spare room could do with a clean out as i'm a bit of a hoarder.

    Thanks again
