Signing up for Optus Broadband ADSL 2+

Hi Guys,

im looking for advise on what should i do?
so basically, i sign up for Optus Broadband ADSL 2+ on the 22 July.
I received email from Optus saying I will be connected by 6pm NSW time 31 July.
on the 31 July, i received the modem and everything. I connected everything and it asked for my optusnet.com.au username and password.
I contacted optus, they gave me my username and temp password, but it still not working. they told me to wait.
on the 1st August, I contacted Optus again. They told me the backend team didnt finish the job hence my account is not activated yet.
They told me it will be connected by 24 hours.
On the 2nd August, I contacted Optus again. This time, they told me I should be connected by tonight when im going home.
At this point, I told them many times already, that when i tried to login to member services (https://memberservices.optusnet.com.au/) my optusnet.com.au account wont login. It keep saying "Your mail ID hasn't been confirmed yet for login." but Optus tech told me dont worry about it as when im going home my modem should automatically be connected already.
i already almost give up to optus to be honest.
I am thinking of switching to another Internet provider. But if I do that, Optus will send me their bill anyway and force me to pay - otherwise they will destroy my credit ratings.
I look at this TIO complaint, but i dont think that will resolve my issue.
Any suggestion?

  • They cant force you to pay if they didnt provide a service worth paying for not to mention you should have a cooldown period.

  • If you can get out of the Optus contract then do it… their service is terrible and you can never get any help in store. They just have a phone to India and that's it. I have had many of issues with them even when they cut my service for 3-4 weeks thinking the bills wasn't paid when it had been.

    Haha wow it has been 4 days and you are on Ozbargain complaining - come on mate - give Optus a call back and sort this out.

      4 days and also putting a TIO complaint in. People are funny

      • At least OP is only considering it. Better than that other fellow who actually complained to TIO literally 6 days after they got a Fetch TV thing and it didn't work immediately.
