thank you for your post OP

    100% Real Leather Guaranteed

Could you please elaborate on your leather that is sourced in Pakistan as per your FAQs
is your real leather- bonded? top grain? full grain?

    Each Jacket is Handcrafted Individually

Are your jackets handcrafted in Australia or Pakistan?

    45% OFF Leather Jackets
    https://www.skinwood.com.au/product/double-z-mens-leather-ja...

this works out to be $189.75
Just yesterday we had a chap from another company who was selling Australian made jackets, with buttersoft full grain Australian leather for $150

    Low price and guaranteed quality

Why then are your jackets, which are made with real leather from Pakistan costing almost $40 more, assuming the cost of labour here in Australia to be higher than that in Pakistan
Should I not be supporting local tanneries, and locally handcrafted products over yours?

    Thank you,

    • +1

      Hi,

After applying the discount codes (45jackets), our price range for the leather jackets is from $80 to 151.25 including shipping.

We do currently source our finished goods from Pakistan, but we also work with local tanneries to supply real high-quality Kangaroo Skins. The jackets listed have a quality finish, each provided in the descriptions of the product.

Please look out for our range of summer leather wear, which will be from Kangaroo leather closer to summer.

      Thanks

      • +2

I stand corrected, after applying your discount your priciest jacket @150 is still more expensive than a premium quality Australian made jacket with butter soft full grain leather sourced from Australia, as we saw in yesterday's deal

ie your jacket from Pakistan is more expensive than a premium quality Aussie jacket!

How can that be a bargain?

Also OP you may have missed/ chosen to avoid my other question:

is your real leather- bonded? top grain? full grain?

        • Hi,

The jackets are made from full grained leather

          Thanks

        • +2

@skinwoodleather: That information belongs in your description. You cannot deny it is relevant.

@OzBarAnon: Paramount? Unpublished for sockpuppeting, I think.

          Paramount

          Beat me to it :)

          @Ozbaranon
          Those jackets were dodgy as

That OP was chastising us for mediocre comments

        • @docians: Wait, if those jackets sold by Paramount were dodgy, why would you bring them up in comparison to these ones? You pointed out that they were cheaper and question why these ones are more expensive, but also point out that were shady anyway.

        • @docians: He became even rude when trying to teach English language instead of focusing on the misleading advertising, how stupid is that guy!

        • +1

          @OzBarAnon:

The comparison was to the claims

Buttersoft premium Australian full grain leather, hand crafted in Australia. Someone had bought them in a previous deal and said it was not worth it

This post just think about it, premium original leather for $150, sounds to good to be true.

I have spent time in the Indian subcontinent and in general (but not always) the trend is to exaggerate claims

You have to try and separate the wheat from the chaff

        • I bought one jacket from Paramount for $150 when it was 25% off
          The jacket was good quality.

If u have been to Victoria market then u will see most of the jackets are between $200 - $300 and the deisgns r also outdated and generic.

        • @docians: Ah okay, that's what you meant. Sorry, I misinterpreted what you were getting at

        • +1

          @BruceWanye97:

          well done

and I thought it was peter parker who had spidey senses :)

and while you are at it tell us if it was buttersoft as described!

        • @OzBarAnon:
          not a worry

        • @docians: For me that was a compliment. I was pleased I had advanced to mediocrity.

        • @skinwoodleather: Apparently the jacket Member Dave Id received is an exception.

        • @PJC:

          Not really
OP used the term full grained leather and not full grain leather

          Also this description

          100% real Sheep Nappa leather
Finish for that excellent modern look

100% real sheep nappa leather finish!

ie the jacket is meant to resemble a real leather jacket!

OP is going to claim his poor command of English for the confusion. There has been a lack of qulaity control

        • @docians:

          Nah.

Bank account linked to PayPal account should have 100 points of ID.
If not,OP is operating an illegal bank account and ABN.
That is a lot worse than these jacket sales. Consumer Affairs recommended ASIC as well.
We should enter OP in the next Olympic's high jump :)

          One of my emails :)

          Hi David,

          Thanks for the email.

We are happy to have the product laboratory tested as we have spoken
to our supplier about this matter as well.

There are numerous reputable laboratories in Australia that can test
this product and verify the information that we are providing.

@docians: I'm always gentle. With a better description for his fellow Members of Australia's largest buying community he'll probably shift more stock.

        • +1

          @PJC:

I doubt he presently has a whole lot of stock to shift. Clicked a few jackets he has 1-2 jackets in stock.

I think OP is an entrepreneur with sample jackets in his suitcase. If his jackets are good quality, he will have his own showroom before long. I wish him well.

However at the prices he is quoting I honestly doubt it is full grain leather.

Also there is a lack of attention to detail in his website. No proofreading eg Burgandy, Gurantee.

Is there a similar lack of detail in his jackets? Is it really full grain leather? Or bonded leather polished to smell like the real thing. We have to take his word for it.

        • @docians:

Prolly a bankrupt shifting stock from one year ago when the business folded.
That would possibly constitute four counts of fraud.

        Nice article cymon
However since when is the US a world authority in leather.

For me if a seller says
Full grain it means already the entire thickness of skin (human equivalent epidermis plus dermis). I am reassured in the least that the skin of one animal was used

Top grain- the top part of the skin (epidermis) it will not be as thick as full grain ( as the dermis part is missing)

Genuine leather- part of animal skin eg wooden furniture contains part of a tree bark. In this case I know that it is animal skin.

Bonded: parts of animal skin mixed with other things

Easy to understand why one would be more expensive than the other

Back to OP: full grain leather if true I know that the skin of one animal was used

Real leather could mean anything from the best to the worst, but in general if they use the whole skin they scream it, if they don't they try terms like genuine leather

Just my 2c, apologies for any typos doing this on the run

        • +1

since when is the US a world authority in leather

The jacket is clearly not leather.

      It is vinyl.

I have contacted Consumer Affairs,Victoria who have taken all the details.

Seller has no ABN that I can find.

Apart from this website and theirs,I now have four emails that are complete lies.

Last one offering to test it. LOL.

Shall save this page after posting.

      Ciao for Now!

      Edit.

The firm is Quality Connections Australia Pty Ltd. ABN 68 122 988 041.

Slim possibility that the vinyl is manufactured here. Prolly not.

        Thanks for the message.

Please note we only stock 100% real leather products, and in this scenario as per discussion, we have supplied a 100% Real Sheep Nappa Leather Jacket.

We are also a small business and customer satisfaction is our highest priority.

Should this not satisfy you, we are happy to assist you further if you can please email us to [email protected] with your desired outcome.

        Thanks,

  • Maybe it is the lighting but the leather jackets in this deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/395671
    look better

no clue about type of leather, but it has the advantage of you trying for a fit
    and purchasing only if happy

and if you are not happy you could return it within 60 days (with labels intact)

    • Much prefer a brown jacket with the front body cut from two pieces of leather, rather than six or more.

  • Really great jacket in terms of quality. I just got it today and it's lightweight and buttery soft. It fits perfectly on me, small feels like xs and it's great. They also gave me free express shipping I got it in 1 day and a free tie that was handmade that feels like silk. Nice touch and well worth the money. Would recommend and will be buying again hopefully if this sale lasts a while.

    • Which jacket did you get?

      • Men's camel sheep nappa. The url I went to previously is not found now….

        • Same as mine. Purchased the last one in my size. Being in the bush,it will turn up in the next few working days.

    • Really great jacket in terms of quality. I just got it today and it's lightweight and buttery soft. It fits perfectly on me

happy for you, buying an outstanding product at a splendid price
      $99 is a bargain!

I am assuming you bought this in a different size

      https://www.skinwood.com.au/product/camel-mens-sheep-nappa-e...

      Camel Men’s Sheep Nappa
      Nappa fininsh
Excellent qulaity 100% Sheep Nappa Leather

I am sure there must have been more attention to detail on handcrafting the jacket

They also gave me free express shipping

OP didn't want to deny you any further time without your jacket so he chipped in with express shipping. I would estimate given the weight of the jacket, express shipping would cost $20 effectively the jacket cost $79

and a free tie that was handmade that feels like silk

handcrafted with polyester actually but with a silky finish, valued at 20. OP probably felt like he was ripping you off at $79 so he threw in a tie valued at $20, effectively making the jacket cost $59

Nice touch and well worth the money

Absolutely a bargain for an effective price of $59 you got

      100% Real Leather Guaranteed
      100% real Sheep Nappa leather
Finish for that excellent modern look
      Camel Men’s Sheep Nappa
Nappa fininsh – Excellent qulaity 100% Sheep Nappa Leather

will be buying again hopefully if this sale lasts a while

plenty of time, as per OPs post, this price lasts until the 21st of August

      • Obviously purchased in a different size.
You have linked to a Large Size, not an XS or similar.

      Hi OP
If your leather is genuine full grain napa leather
(I will assume by saying Nappa you are specifying Napa)

how are you able to sell it for $99 including expedited delivery

Please don't give us BS like you are eliminating the middle man, because in my last trip to the subcontinent, the cheapest pair of decent leather shoes I was able to buy cost the equivalent of $100.

Factoring in labour costs involved in handcrafting the jacket, cost of transporting to Australia, and the fact that a leather jacket in general uses more leather than a pair of shoes, I would be interested in finding out your economic model.

If of course you are saying real leather in general terms (like for example my chair is made of real wood, yes it is, but of course there are different types of wood) I understand :)

This is an end of season clearance sale. All stock must go

so regardless of the season, and whether the stock is old or new prices remain the same, and my question remains unanswered

I shall repeat it for your convenience, and since you seem to be avoiding the question

If your leather is genuine full grain napa leather how are you able to sell your jackets for $99 including expedited delivery?

(I will assume by saying Nappa you are specifying Napa)

          @docians: I can tell you it's 100% leather. They aren't joking.

        • @Dave Id:

          https://www.leather-dictionary.com/index.php/Napa_leather

          and I quote

In the English-speaking world, napa leather is written with one "p". There is also the term "nappa leather", which is used for soft imitation leather. Probably to let customers believe they have bought top quality napa leather.

It is not known which labelling rules apply in the many English-speaking countries. In Portugal, the word for artificial leather is "Napa". In Germany "Nappa" means the same as "napa" in the English language. Therefore, it is always necessary to clarify the term in foreign countries.

In this case the leather is from Pakistan, so I was just clarifying that by saying Nappa he meant Napa and not Nappa (the dodgy kind)

Unlike wikipedia I hope that the articles on leather dictionary cannot be edited by children who don't know better

        • @Pikaloo:

not denying it is 100% leather
I'm asking (and OP is clearly evading) if it is good leather

You can have a coffee table made of plywood, another made of pine and yet another made of mahogany. Each comes at a different pricepoint
While technically they are all "100% wood", not all wood is the same.

Similarly just because you have have a jacket that is 100% leather, that does not mean it is good leather

        • @docians:

The word Nappan meaning Fairy Valley is a Native American word.

Emanuel Manasse, who migrated to Napa,California named his soft tanning process after the town, which was named after a Nappan village. Get it? Probably not :(

Unlike yourself, who prefers polyester,I have been wearing leather jackets/coats for over 50 years. Very popular in the 1960s. So were the jackets :)

Personally, having an IQ in the top half percentile and being lucky enough to have grown up with the 1949 version of Encyclopaedia Britannica, I usually find Wikipedia excellent.

Might wander down to the Post Office later. My new jacket is prolly there.

        • @Dave Id:

          Unlike yourself,who prefers polyester

never realized that you kept track of my sartorial preferences

Almost wondering if you have a personal stake in skinwood leather, they way you seem to be taking umbrage by my mere questioning of OP's leather quality, which I have every right to do.

Really wondering why I should not be reporting you for personal attacks
Every time I question OP about the quality of his leather, he avoids answering and you seem to be answering on his behalf, now with personal attacks!

eg a short man can claim to be six feet tall
whats that called again- small man syndrome something :)

I have been wearing leather jackets/coats for over 50 years

honestly if one buys a good quality leather jacket, it would age well, and would be timeless. Surely you would not have to keep buying new ones, at 1960s prices as well

People have been wearing leather shoes for longer than you have lived, but sadly they still can't tell the difference between a good shoe or a bad one. Just because you claim to have been alive longer than the average ozbargainer, it automatically does not make you an expert now does it?

Would you please describe the animal from which Member Dave Id's jacket came from?

As I doubt you will get a reply ….. lots of vinyls, chlorides and phthalates.

          Thanks.

          Will eventually kill me.
Meh. The 1960s were a lot of fun :)
Been dead once before.Stupid 1970s :( Sorta figured it would eventually happen again.

        Right.

I have had a look at the jacket and have just emailed the seller.

Shall post my review in answer to PJC,when I get a reply.

At this stage,I could not recommend purchasing.

Same thing for me. It was a Vinyl Jacket.
Work Colleague confirmed this. He makes leather goods and could tell right away.

        • @KingNgope:

That is appalling. Pursue a refund and keep us informed.

Negging because Member Id ordered a leather jacket as per Associated OP's title but received a vinyl jacket. Buyer beware!

  • I was just thinking earlier today, if there is no accountability, how difficult would it be for anyone to do the same? Eg I could ask my contacts in India to send me cheap stuff and pass it off here as more expensive stuff.

@Dave yes consumer court will slap him on the wrist, and he will unfortunately crop up with another website spruiking different goods.

And because of these bad apples when someone from the subcontinent comes up with decent goods we will be doubtful

As per Dave Id's experience, this seller is passing off Vinyl Jackets as Leather.

They also have unreliable contact information, hampering compensation efforts.

I leave this neg as a warning so other members can take this into consideration before purchasing from this seller.

      • customer satisfaction is our highest priority.

If you are so evasive with your replies now, how much more evasive will you be if I buy some thing and realise I don't like it?

Sadly OP I think avoiding questions from potential customers seems to be your top priority.

Really great jacket in terms of quality. I just got it today and it's lightweight and buttery soft

    Me

If your leather is genuine full grain napa leather how are you able to sell your jackets for $99 including expedited delivery?

    Dave id

The jacket is clearly not leather. It is vinyl.

    OP

We only deal in 100% Real Leather, we state in our descriptions the animal from which the leather comes from.

Surely we can't all be right when talking about the same product. Can we?
