    • Confirmed yes. Existing original battery.

  • Anyone care about android updates?

According to this article, the S7 will not get the newly released android pie (version 9): www.theandroidsoul.com/android-pie-release-date/amp/

Even the latest Samsung flagship has not been updated to 8.1 even though it was available a couple of months before the phones release date.

    • +2

That because of Samsung current flagship phone policy. 2 major OS update and 3 years of security patches. The S7 is on it last leg till S10 realease. If updates is important to you then I suggest getting the s8 instead.

  • -1

    warranty?

    • +1

Says 6 months so not bad in that regard.

  • Just ordered one for my son, along with a tempered glass screen protector and a case. Hopefully it comes soon, and is in good condition!

  • Having to replace the battery sort of kills the deal personally. Was going to get one for the girlfriend. Might wait for pixel 3 to come out and get her a pixel 2.

    • -1

Agree. Girlfriends don't need Samsung. People with Apple have more sex

      • I reckon this should be the next apple slogan to quickly hit their second trillion dollar mark. Get an apple and will get laid more.

  • +1

Hi Rep, can you confirm if this model supports wireless charging? Gsmarena states that wireless charging is market dependant. Cheers

  • How does the s7 stack up against the China droids at similar price point with new batteries and newer processors?

  • +1

Depends on what you are looking for. The S7 camera will be a lot better than a lot of current $500 mobiles. Oh….and the S7 like all of the Samsung Flagship models has a notification LED. Thats something that is lacking on many phones these days. For me a notification LED is a must.

  • I just tried to buy an S7, was redirected to paypal to confirm payment (done) and then got returned to the geardo website where a message said the item is out of stock - AFTER the payment was taken.

    • On a serious note, paypal will look after you

      • +2

Sure, but what sort of amateur webshop doesn't reserve stock currently in your shopping cart…

  • +2

Personally, I prefer the s7 in samsung's range, over any of samsungs newer (and pricier) models.
    1. No curved screen . Looks crap I think.
    2. No curved screen . Curved screen breaks much easier when dropped.
    3. No curved screen . Which means you can easily get a hardened glass screen protector and apply it easily also. From the research I did, the curved screens hardened glass screen protectors either don't fit across entire screen, and/or overprices , and/or easily come off due to the curved screen.
    4. Waterproof, expandable memory with micro sd (up to 256GB I think) .
    5. Come in a dual sim card model also.
    6. Excellent battery life.
    7. No exploding battery.

    • 4 5 6 7 are still present in S8 and S9.

    • Price for value totally agree; I cannot see myself spending $1K on a mobile. I really enjoy using SG7, even though I don't use most of the features. Not had any issues with mine at all. Great quality photos too; 12 (rear) & 5 (front) MP. If something happened to mine I would happily buy another.

  • -6

Heard all refurbish s7 have severe scratches on units. Some even dented!

    • When the add says "SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 32GB REFURBISHED, Like New, Only Cheaper" I'd be hoping not.

    • Where did you hear this from? Thanks.

    • Heard? More details

    • When mine (S7) arrives, I'll post pics.

  • Any more coming in stock of the S7?

  • +3

Have had my S7 since March last year, easily the best phone I've ever owned. Battery life is still great, camera is fantastic and it's still more than powerful enough to keep up with today's phones.

  • +1

I purchased two and would be happy to sell one to someone at Cost price. PM if in Melbourne and interested.

    • I would like to buy it from you at cost price Rog1995, It isn't allowing me to pm you. I am in Melbourne

  • Be careful with this mob. 7 days after buying I emailed them enquiring if it was far off being shipped. They just replied my item is out of stock and would refund me 'soon'

    • That's pretty bad. I'm still waiting for mine, but haven't contacted them, yet (hasn't been a week). Anyone else facing this problem?

      • Received an email with the IMEI of my S7, so presumably I'll be receiving it

  • +2

Just received an email with the IMEI of the phone they are sending me. It’s a US sprint version with 820 chipset…

    • +2

Just received an email with mine and it's a G930F (Global version) - Samsung Exynos 8 Octa 8890

      • +1

Good on ya, I am seeking clarification from the rep about why I am not getting the Global version as it was noted on my tax invoice.

        • +2

I'm not happy about this as well - clearly stated in my order notes and in a pm to the rep that I wanted the global version, also mentioned on my invoice.

      • +1

Interesting - I just checked another IMEI Spec site, and it shows the phone as a P (Sprint) - so go figure. But I'm going by what's on the invoice (G930F), and if it's not that I'll tell them to replace it, seeing as the description at the top of this post, shows Band 28, etc.

        • It will be the G930P. They have no G930F stock left even though that's what was printed on all issued invoices. Best they can offer is a G930S (South Korean/Exynos variant) supposedly coming into stock some time next week.

        • @ssquid: Guess I'll find out next week. But if it doesn't support band 28, then that's false advertising…

          Fingers crossed anyway.

        • +1

@RichardSydney: Well, just received this from GearDo…

          Hi,
          Thanks for the message.
Sorry, the order has been shipped with the G930P version. There was a conflict with the model number in listing name. but the P version works with Australian networks without any issue.
          Please check the attached image.
          Thank you
          Attachment(s)

Not sure how to attach images here, but basically it was an image showing supported bands - not sure how they think it works with Australian networks without any issue. Lists: Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 25 & 26 and TD-LTE Band 41. Optus (from frequencycheck's website) supports bands, 1, 3, 7, 28 & 40 - so there are no Optus bands supported by this phone.

Of course, I'm not going to settle for that - they sold me a G930F, so presumably they have to send me one, as part of the contract. Otherwise I guess PayPal dispute time…

[Edited: got the bands wrong - actually doesn't support any Optus LTE bands]

        • +1

          @RichardSydney:

          Their reply to my reply…

          Hi,
Thanks for the message. Please note that the listing mentioned all the model numbers. also we have sent you the IMEI number before shipping the order to confirm the stock. Sorry about the model number issue but We are not trying to sell you a non supporting phone for Australia or switch phones in your order. the "P" version works with Optus without any issue with 4G bandwidth as we checked it ourselves. if you are still needing a refund we are happy to arrange it.
Please send the item back to us with a description mentioning about the fault and requirement (Refund).
make sure to put your order ID and name on it.

Anyone know how that would work? Have they hacked the radio firmware or unlocked additional bands, somehow?

        • +1

@RichardSydney: And the next one (with same attachment listing non-Optus bands:

          Hi,
Thanks for the message. We have done nothing but just delivering the order as a genuine seller do :)
as you can see in the attachment the 4g 28 is not compatible with this phone but most of other 4G connections are working such as 26. its more than enough for any use.
          Thank you
          Attachment(s)

        • +1

          @RichardSydney:

          You're being strung along.
The G930P was NOT mentioned anywhere in the sale listing (and still isn't at the current time).

What they probably tested (if they truly did any testing at all) is the G930V which is the other US/snapdragon model (from Verizon), is mentioned in the listing, and does support some of our 4G bands.

        • +1

@ssquid: yeah, I'm just trying to check now, that they will pay for the return postage, otherwise I'll just contact PayPal, tomorrow.

          Bit of a nightmare, really.

        • @RichardSydney: Checked the phone: it's a G930P.

I ran speed tests, comparing with my current phone, and my phone is upto 3x faster download, and upto 6x faster upload.

          Not good. Not happy.

        • @RichardSydney:

What type of network does the device actually say it's using?
From memory on samsung devices you have to go into settings->more->about device->status. If it doesn't list "Mobile network type" on that page it may be under "sim status".

You can also dial *#*#4636#*#* and look under phone info for a bit more technical info.

        • @ssquid: ah sorry, I've already done a factory reset, and they're going to swap it for an, 'S', which they assure me (sent a screenshot showing all bands - but who really knows) has all the bands the, 'F', does.

        • @RichardSydney:

Uh okay… just keep in mind they called me yesterday and said they had no G930S stock left (after switching my order last Thursday).

        • @ssquid: I'll keep you posted

        • @RichardSydney:

Anyone know how that would work? Have they hacked the radio firmware or unlocked additional bands, somehow?

          Maybe you'll 3G coverage, but not 4G?

        • @Msquared: I sent mine back and got a refund: too much messing about for me, and didn't want to risk using a rooted and re-flashed phone.

    • +1

I just checked the IMEI number sent to me and i'm confused which version I'm getting.

      Model Number SM-G930PZDASPR
      Model Name SM-G930P
      Model Desc G930F Galaxy S7
      Production Date 2016-04-04
      Warranty NO
      Warranty Date 2017-06-04
      Manufacturer SEHZ
Sold By United States of America / 2016-04-06
      Carrier Sprint United States

      Is this F or P

      • That says P to me; not F; SM-G930P.
(What that additional line "Model Desc" adds is confusing … weird)

  • +2

Hey rep, I see you've been online, can you please respond to emails and PM's!

  • The difference in performance is remote. https://www.trustedreviews.com/opinion/snapdragon-vs-exynos-…

    • +1

Can't use Aussie firmware on the American model…. it's not the Global model that was promised (and invoiced for)

      • Can you please elaborate?

  • +2

can anyone who got their phone comment on the quality of the refurbishment

    • +1

amount of scratches, battery life, etc.

    • Recently received my S8, no scratches and looks new.
Only issue is an intermittent stuck pixel, though seems to be becoming more rare as I use the phone more.

  • +1

Looks like im defiantly getting the G930P version (USA Sprint) and after making contact (3 times now) looks like they are unable to change to Global G930F as advertised and invoiced. I feel this was blatant misleading advertising.

    • +2

      Stick with your defiance!

    • +2

Did you pay with PayPal? If you have something which states you'd get the global version, then you should be fine to raise a complaint, I would have thought.

    • +1

could you please pm your order ID

      • PM sent

        • Same story here.

        • @katatoniq:
did you guys get this sorted out with the PM?

        • @mobo:

          Have not been contacted

  • I contacted them and they are able to change it to the S version which is the Korean version. This is the octacore model S7 SM-G930S. What are peoples thoughts? For the price it's still a great deal and I have found Geardo easy to contact and deal with.

    • +3

Got the same response, and I imagine quite a few other people did too (or just got stuck with a G930P).
Snapdragon SoCs should be avoided at all costs, they run with throttling practically permanently active to keep their temperature down to acceptable levels.

  • Am I right in assuming the Korean version is identical to international F version? Looks like it's only lacking one of our LTE bands whereas the F has all bands.

Would the S come with Korean language as default?

  • +1

I have just been told that a refund will be processed "soon" since they can't offer me the 930F/S

    Sigh…..

    • did you have to pay the return shipping?

      • +1

It still hadn't been shipped. They assured me it would be refunded.

Today I got an updated letting me know that it has been shipped.

……………….not sure if incompetent or just outright malicious.

  • +3

    Has anyone received theirs yet?

    • Mine arrived at work, today - but I'm working from home, so won't see it until tomorrow.

Just need to sort out return and refund covering return postage, a they stuffed up and sent the wrong model, which I think is only fair.

  • +1

I got the phone today and it's the SM-G930P

This is ridiculous. It's the US Sprint model.

Does anyone know how do I get my money back including shipping?

    • By chance have you tried it out? GearDo assured me that it will work in Australia - despite not having band 28.

I think that's BS, but haven't tried the one they sent me, as it's waiting at work for me to collect.

      • +1

Nope doesn't work on LTE. Useless and a waste of time

        • I'm trying to get them to pay for return postage as well. I might end up having to open a PayPal dispute: perhaps do the same?

        • @RichardSydney: Yes I have just opened a PayPal dispute as well

        • @cya: would be good for others in the same boat to chime in so we can ensure everyone gets their money back.

        • +1

@RichardSydney: will be collecting mine tomorrow and will be doing the same if no LTE

        • @RichardSydney:
Is 4G and LTE the same?

        • +2

@Rog1995: not sure, mate. I thought LTE was a protocol that is used, and is used for 4G, so I guess there could be other ways to get 4G, but don't think this phone uses any and just uses LTE.

  • +1

I'll be first to neg this deal.

    1. Advertised wrong model - Although I don't mind to much about the chipset used with the negligible 10-30% speed difference. I received the G930P which on the back it states the IMEI number and SM-G930F (Dare I say, questionable fake model labels). I found this phone to be completely usuable on the kogan network even though i live in the metropolitan area. Literally takes 30 seconds or times out to even load a standard google page, gumtree or any other site.
    2. Defected Micro USB input. I cannot even charge it.
    3. I sent them a message last week 9 days ago when it will be shipped and they told me on that day. I sent them another email to say where it was and they told me it was posted. I find it was just posted yesterday via express postage. With no sign of any apology for their lies and fake promises.
    4. Did i mention 1, 2 and 3?

Note: This could possibly be an individual experience with the defected phone i received
But i can't help to feel up to this point having to wait an additional 9 days, i may have got left with the scraps having to pay for their mistakes

How they resolve this can result in me removing my comment or keeping it here..

    • +2

Mine also arrived today. It's a G930L, which I would be fine with (I was first allocated a G930P, complained and got changed to a G930S, then was told they were out of stock and settled for a G930L) if it had not been flashed with G930F firmware. Now it fails safetynet's basic integrity check and I have to waste my time to undo whatever crap has been done to it.
On the positive side it does have working 4G reception but I'd already double-checked the G930L specs to confirm that.

    • +1

I'm really over this: mine's going back tomorrow - not gonna try an 's' flashed with G930F firmware, which then won't work with various things, maybe have trouble with OTA updates and so on.

      • +2

Mine was infested with adware, random full screen ads kept popping up.
It also had other dubious system modifications - an app named ZZU was using 50MB of data per hour doing god knows what.

According to the file timestamps these changes were made in the first week of August. I guess this is part of Geardo's "refurbishment" process.

        • That's a real worry. Definitely glad I posted mine back, this morning: don't think I'd have ever felt comfortable with this phone.

Now fingers crossed that they process the refund promptly…
