Hyundai i30 2017-MY18, 30,000km- asking price -$18,990. Few of them around this price mark. How much to offer?

Hi guys, looking for a car for wife and want to know if someone has bought new model Hyundai i30 Active recently- new or used and how much have you paid? There are few around with dealers advertised for $18990 driveaway with 25-30,000km on them.

Also, same scenario for a Tuscon 2017 MY17 active x, around $25k drive away with 35-50k km on them. How much should one offer?

Thanks in advance.

Spackbace, yeh it is a fair jump in price but it gives OP an idea of the price to consider. For me it was worth it and I’m happy with the price.

BinnyC, i didn’t price up the base model without it so I’m not entirely sure. I found it to be well worth the extra dollars when considering the cars primarily for my partner and baby to get about in, so the extra safety features will hopefully serve them well should the need arise. I also love the adaptive cruise control which is a feature I never realised I wanted.

          @laupito:

For that sort of money, could get the brand new model Corolla, also with the safety features

          @Spackbace:

I don’t fancy the Corolla, to each their own I guess.

        • @laupito:

          Seen the new shape?

        • @Spackbace:

To be fair the new design is nice!

        • @laupito:

If my budget was around $25K a new Corolla Ascent sport in Hybrid spec would be my first pick.

        • @rodripa: whats servicing costs on the 'rolla? The i30 is something like $280-$400 12 month service cycle.

        • +1

@Nalar: according to Toyota website, cost is $140 every six months for the first 6 services, so $240 per year, so and $720 over 3 years

    • That is so nice of you to help:)

      • Perhaps but she treats us as kind of an extended family so it was a pleasure to help. She could plainly afford the car at the original price but I just took offense at the obvious way they'd just quoted her pretty much list price for what is essentially a consumer good where supply is very high. I just felt they were taking advantage.

Had they come in at $26000, then I'd have said nothing and just complemented her on the new car and a decent deal but the $28000 was a bit of a red rag moment and given I work for myself, it was easy to spend a couple of hours having a bit of fun negotiating. Whilst I'm sure there might have been a little more on the table, in the end it was from the local dealer and gave her a similar loan car until hers was ready - all part of the negotiation spec.

To those who have asked about the SmartSense pack, I can only say that she values it greatly. She had also tried a new launch pack Skoda Karoq and was wowed by the 360 deg camera etc but ultimately decided it was a little too large for her. For those interested the negotiated price on that was $41,100, so say $41,500 for normal non-OAPs. Nice cars, very nice.

Hi, I got 2017 Hyundai i30 Active Silver Auto for $22k driveaway. It came with floor mats. Didn't get smart sense though. Love the car though, went from a 2001 BMW 318i so definitely a big change (and much cheaper on the pockets for servicing).

    i30 active for $17999 with 1000km.
unsure if it has any problems, but seller is also selling a lot of furnitures, maybe moving sale.

    • This car is in SA. Howz title transfer donw and how registration is done. Does it affect insurance in any way?

      • I know you haven't acknowledged my comments once in this post, but as I said before, demo's in your own state start at $21,390, why bother with interstate?

        • appreciate your comment,I'm not OP,but I think sometimes it benefits others too when they search.

        • @028:

          I didn't reply to you…

        • @Spackbace:
          I know
just saying there are other people who reads your comment.

      • I don't know,maybe ask the dealer.I know one way airfare is $49 sometimes

OP, I was in the same boat as you last month. The cheapest 1yr old i30 with driveaway came up to 19,300 and would miss out on SatNav/Android Auto when compared to the i30 2018 model.

Ended up buying a new i30 trophy for 22k driveaway. If you are interested and based in Sydney, DM me for the salesmans contact details.

    • Thanks but I am in Melbourne.

Doesnt really matter where you are, i got quotes from interstate on my last one saying i was happy to travel for the right deal, then got my local to match it.

    • Hi @pradeepisin can you PM me the salesman details ?

  • I don't know but if they have a few of them all with same mileage, age, and price, they might have been rental cars, which I'd avoid.

Or they could be executive driven (employees drive the car for free).

I don't expect people to have treated the car well if it's a rental.

  • Offer whatever you want to pay
It costs nothing to make an offer and you got nothing to lose.
Dont hesitate to walk away from the saleman as this is the best way to get a better deal

    • I am going to go and see them next week and will check for things you guys have adviced.

If not, may be I wl look in to demo models with less kilometers as well.

  • How much to offer?

    Tell him he's dreaming
    That usually works :)

  • I have been offered $27990 Driveaway for i30 SR Auto with 2018 build and new.

    • not a bad price, get them to throw in floor mats and skip rust/underbody bullshit and that's a deal.

  • I'm curious how this went. OP?

    • I found some cars were ex rental. So, still waiting for the right price on less kms.

  • Hi all, just an update. Finally bought i30 2018 demo. Thanks all for your gr8 support again.

    • We need more details, how much how many km, which extras they got you for?

  • +1

Paid 20.5k, 4000km, fuel, mats and boot mat included.
