KVM over IP That Is Not Using Java

Hi All,

Does anyone know a reasonable (cost-wise) KVM over IP device?

Requirements:

  • Cost-wise less than $1000 (less than $800 is better)
  • 1 user usage only
  • Port: VGA / HDMI & USB (no need PS2)
  • Compatibility: Mac and Windows (preferably non-Java, as I heard slow performance with java based KVM)
  • Ability to remote computer (especially on BIOS level)

I found this AdderLink Digital ipeps ALD-IPEPS-AUS but cost rather too much $1320 (as I need 3 x devices for interstate offices

Thanks heaps!

  • The reason KVM devices are expensive now is because its a non commodity items. Im not sure what your use case or what kind of devices you trying to access but nowadays most enterprise vendor provides free out of band management interface, have you checked that?

    • We have around 100 interstate consultants that have been provided with laptops.

Day to day support can be done through remote software (such as teamviewer or connectwise or logmein), but if they have issue with the laptop that requires bios access (or even reinstall windows due to BSOD, it's quite hard for our network admin to assist over the phone.

The idea is to have one KVM over IP in our interstate office, so that they can plug it in and we fix it remotely.

Another option is to provide vPro chipset, but this will increase the cost higher per laptop
