Most Memorable game/s:

2) Alcahest - The best hack and slash ARPG for SNES a hidden Gem from Halken, believe its Hal Labs now, makers of Smash bros & Kirby series. The OST is one of the best and its that good you wouldn't even know its from the SNES

    most memorable games and moments:
Pokemon Emerald (on PC emulator coz i dont have enough money to buy gameboy advance when i was a kid) - catching rayquaza with a pokeball, after exhausting all ultra balls, great balls with 2 pokeball left.

Getting rare monster in monster rancher PS2 using my mom's karaoke DVD. lol

    Most memorable consoles:
PS2 - started my real gaming journey there with bunch of bootlegged DVD JRPG.

    • Monster rancher is one unique game that you can disc brew your own monster.

      Interesting concept game.

  • Most memorable for me was the N64. Had Mario 64, Zelda Ocarina of time, Majoras Mask, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon snap, Mario Kart 64, Smash, Starcraft 64 (lol). So many great hours, along with reading game magazines to get tips to beat Zelda.

    • Nintendo games are top quality production can't argue with that never own the N64 console but did play them on an emulator later years.

I bought EGM all the time during my teen days.

  • +3

    Deus ex

    • Deus EX has come a long way, the same with hitman and tomb raider.

Out of all the three games… I must say I have only completed the Tomb Raider series, the rest in progress.

      • Deus Ex has gone backwards since the original actually. None of the following games held up well against it. Invisible War was dumbed down substantially to get younger and console players in, and while I did enjoy the latest ones (Human Revolution and Mankind Divided) they just don't have the same atmosphere, world, and character building as the original.

    • Easily one of my top 5. Brilliant game for its time

  • +1

    Fallout 1

    • +2

The first of all Gamers for Gamers video game.
Still, love the idea you can empty a house and have our own vault.

Looking through Gamesmen catalogues, by the time I have money to buy games I wanted has already past my gaming era.

    https://www.gamesmen.com.au/old-catalogues

    • These days I'm just hoarding on PS4 games because of FOMO like I how missed out on all the great SNES RPGs.

      • +1

        points@ SNES mini

        then points @ hakchiCE

    • Their Megapacks were brilliant, but I'll never understand how they were able to do it… They were basically copied disks with printed labels (black text on a white background).
Make no mistake, they were great, and any issues we had, they sent out replacement disks, but it's always just struck me as odd.

  • Rollcage ps1

    • Rollcage is one of the few games on psx with 60 fps. I played it but still prefer Ridge Racer series.

  • +1

Carrier Command on the Amiga 500

    • +1

Do check out ace combat 7 on Jan 2019.

  • +1

Marvel vs capcom on ps1, 4-5 of my primary school friends would come to my house after school and winner got to stay on, my god that was so much fun.
Next up Mario Kart double dash on gamecube! I would play as driver and my best friend would only play the back seat, he became a PRO at throwing projectiles lol.
Honorable mention, Runescape on pc ! That game was really groundbreaking being of one of the first ever mmorpgs.
Warcraft 3 on Pc was also AMAZING, the custom maps allowed people to create mini games and gave birth to other games like Dota (which i still play to this day).

    • +1

We had capcom/snk fighting game sessions too but we mostly played them on the sega saturn mainly because of the ram cart. Games load faster and is closer to the arcade original.

Mario kart projectile is the key importantance to winnin.

Warcraft 3 and frozen throne are nice rts.

Dota didnt play it much but only did that on cyber cafes with friends once or twice and that was….many many years ago.

  • +4

    Ps1 Resident evil

    • +2

Yup I got all the RE series, love them all.

      Psx re.1 intro was hilarious.
(Chris and Barry actors were comedians)

To be honest I can only play the re series compared to silent hill 1…..too scary for me.

  • +1

    Final Fantasy 7
    Shin Megami Tensei Lucifer's Call
    Valkyria Chronicles

    • Still waiting for Phantasy Star Online 2 & Dragon Dogma Online for AU….

  • +2

    Apple 2e
Lode Runner - great puzzle platform game. Many hours taking turns at solving a level with a friend.

    Commodore Amiga
    Speedball - fast paced action

    Xbox
    Halo
The Elder Scrolls Morrowind - amazing music and atmosphere with deep story. I still enjoy listening to the soundtrack. Takes me back to that world.

    PC
    Mass Effect series
    Witcher series

    • +1

Lode Runner now that's a classic

    • Speedball on Amiga was the bomb - was an avid SBv2 fanboy

    • Morrowind was a huge leap forward at the time. Remember the water effects? And all the books?
Its the only Elder Scrolls game I ever level maxed a character out in

  • +1

These are the most memorable games that come to mind. I am sure there are so many others I have missed.

    NES
    Mario Bros
    RC PRO AM
    PunchOut.

    SNES
    Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
    Batman Returns
    Mario Kart

    PS1/PS2
Metal Gear Solid (played through MGS1 12 times)
    Gran Turismo
    Tenchu
    Resident Evil
    Driver

    PS3
    Uncharted
    MGS
    FIFA

    PS4
    Tomb Raider
    Uncharted
    Last of Us Remastered
    GTA V

    • 12 times MGS…….. no wonder you nick is Grayfox.

Batman returns was a nice BTU and Tenchu is one of my favorite (love the mix of old themes with modern music)

What happened to MGSV Phantom Pain? lol

      • I did play Phantom Pain but for some reason lost interest half way through. Still a quality game though.

  • +1

    Console: Dreamcast
    Games: Shenmue 1 & 2

    • Username checks out.

  • +1

    Just to add…

    Sega Megadrive:

    Earth Worm Jim
    Lion King
    Aladdin
    Rock and roll racing
    Micro machines
    Super street fighter 2 turbo
    Super baseball 2020
    Toe Jam and Earl
    Streets of Rage
    Golden Axe
    Sonic in general
    Gunstar Heroes
    Rolling Thunder 2
    Gauntlet
    Puzzle bobble 3
    Tennis 2k2

    Shall I keep going?

    Dreamcast:

    Super puzzle fighter x
    Tennis 2k2
    Puzzle bobble 3
    Sega GT homologation special
All the street fighter variants :D
    Ok ok, I'll stop there.

I have 8x Dreamcasts. 3 of which are boxed boxed. I have a boxed jap karoke add on as well as 2x boxed jap eye toys. Over 50 original games..20x controllers. Some new. 4 of which were converted to wireless. A bunch of new and used memory cards. 10x sealed games. 2x original GDMU births

TL;DR I like the Dreamcast haha. Still a Sega fanboy.

Special mention: PS Vita. I have two of them. About 100 games with over 30 still sealed.

I think I have a habit of loving gaming consoles/handhelds that are killed off. Both the dreamcast and the ps vita had variants of the PowerVR gfx card…hmm

    • +1

Yes, the Dreamcast used to be one of my favorite consoles.
Mainly because of the arcade games, gun games, Berserk, mostly sega and capcom arcade games.

Longest time spent on a Dreamcast game should be Phantasy Star Online & Shemue 1 & 2 for me.

Can't wait for Sega's Judge Eyes to be launch in Dec.

You should keep them as long as possible as it will be worth something when physical games is no longer a thing in the near future.

I sold my brand new xbox for $800 a few years back as I was running out of space.

Still have a lot of retro consoles….in my storage but only 1 dreamcast,

PS vita…I got 4 of them but only like 15 games but quite a few on my PS plus/digital account.

PowerVR gfx card….hmmmm some reading later maybe

Love Balamb Garden from FF8, and ahem Reona plus the Faye Wong eyes on me song.

FFX - Yuna is a lovely character, fell asleep playing X2

Last of Us intro had me on tears.

Mass Effect - still playing Andromeda lol

Super Smash are beautifully crafted fighting games. (Thanks to Hal Lab)

      Wii U ( I got 12x consoles…no jokes love it that much)

PS4…that will be another story lol

Best handhelds for me is 3DS and PS vita…too many games I love in there.

  • +1

FFVII - The only game I finished multiple times back in the days

The Last of Us - The only game I finished multiple times in recent years

    • If you have finished FF7 more than 10 times then you have played many versions.

I have played the PSX Japanese, US, International, PC, Updated PC, PS4…..now waiting for a remake which is pretty crazy if it goes on another cycle.

  • +1

    Tokimeki Memorial!

    • Ah GF game yo……you should love the Sega saturn.

  • +3

    Ultima 4,5
    Darksouls
    Starcontrol 2
Another world was amazing at the time
    Fallout 1,2
    Quest for glory series

    • Star Control 2 was my best arcade shooter game for my PC was it….286 or 386dx ….hmm can't remember.

Hmm not sure why I didn't play Ultima.

      Fallout tactics?

    • Star Control 2, one of the best games ever.
Had everything, great storyline, music, graphics for its time.

It's been reborn as The Ur-Quan Masters.
      Actually still play it occasionally.

    • Quest for Glory series is epic. Did you play the latest game from the same creators? Was certainly nostalgic.

      http://hero-u.com

      • Yeh it was alright, I did find it a bit restrictive, no classes and the turn based combat was tedious

  • +1

original black & white gameboy for me: zelda links awakening & mario 6 golden coins. yeh boi.

    • Dark green and light green :p

    • I love star fox

The 3D0….only game I have play on my friend's console is paper scissor rock (jan ken) with nude japanese ladies…

PSX on a projector…wow that will be nice during those days.

Doom and Wolfenstein then later quake - my training for FPS never had headaches even playing for several hours.

Never try the Oculus rift but I have the PSVR…still not that great the VR experience with blurry eyes.

      • Yeah Projector was cool, Still have a Benq W1070 great for 3D blu rays..

Worked for EA, so we were given megadrives back in the day, Sonic at full speed was great.

But 3DO we thought would be the next big thing, we got the games so cheap at least, played a Beta Road Rash with super speed was crazy

Dreamcast too what a great console.. Soul Caliber, Unreal Tournament, Power Stone.

I picked up Uncharted second hand for ~$10 one day. I had no idea what it was at the time. Played it through the night and called in sick for work the next day to keep playing. My first 2 kids names are Drake and Sullivan…

Fav console is probably PS4 (I play Diablo 3 on Torment difficulty with my 6yo and I play Borderlands 2 with my 8yo on PS4, means a lot to me to be able to spend that quality time with them doing something we all enjoy) or PC. I own 400+ PS4 discs and my steam library is 5x larger than that (I’ve played probably less than 5% of my entire library)

    • +1

Pics of ps4 disc collection now.

      • +3

In the process of moving atm and my shelving isn’t set up so don’t have any good pix but this is a couple of boxes worth we just unpacked. The PS4s have 10tb of storage each (2 + 8) and they’re full https://imgur.com/gallery/diVfD7s I have several thousand games for every system that I’ve collected over the years. We also have the entire collection of Skylanders/Infinity and Dimensions (I obviously do not pay rrp for any of this) https://imgur.com/gallery/IdyYyXd

        • +1

          I have 2 ps4 pros with similar settings - (2+8 & just 1 for the other one)

My Skylanders collection is quite complete, infinity just selected heroes and Dimensions maybe half….omg you really have the whole set lol.

I got heaps of Amiibos too but give up as there were too many to buy and no place to put them.

It's nice you have a shelf made for it…I just buy the bunnings multi boxes to store all of them.

I wonder when Australia will have its first video game museum, you can definitely be part of it ^_^

    • +1

Drake and Sullivan are beautiful names.

400+ ps4 discs are very impressive. Mines only 350+ on Digital Library.

      Steam Library just checked 232.

My son and my daughter are my sidekicks on Diablo 3 Torment + levels, yes we all love games too ^_^.

But my kids are more into the Nintendo Wii u games especially Zelda and Pikmin.

      • My youngest is kind of borderline ADD/ADHD. He has no attention span and the only time he’s still is when he’s sleeping. He’s a good kid though. One day I was playing Diablo 3 and he asked if it has 2 player, so we rolled new characters and I was completely shocked at how fast he picked up the mechanics. Most of the time when we play he’s sitting there with a serious look on his face carrying both of us because I’m too busy laughing and taking selfies of both of us. My kids absolutely love the Wii U as well. I’m yet to introduce them to Pikmin, will have to do that!

    • +1

      Digital Library

It has gone up a little.

      • That PS4 one is huge for digital only! I need to have disc versions if possible when it’s for console. Part of that is probably because where I live my only internet option is satellite or mobile so it’s impossible to be digital only

  • +3

Gorilla.bas - felt like a hacker finding this

    Mario Kart 64

Firewatch - changed my perspective of what a game should be

The one series that got me back into gaming hardcore was Halo:CE for Xbox

I had PS1 N64 and Sega Dreamcast at the time.I was feeling like it was time to take a break from gaming at the time.

Then my Brother bought Xbox and Halo Combat Evolved. and that was it,played it for 30mins and had to get my own.
Fell back into gaming mega hardcore and deepest i have ever been!
All my friends either sold their PS1's or just bought a Xbox and Halo! After that we all became Xbox fans!
We had Halo Lan parties! and loved the shit out of it. i think i finished Halo 50times before Halo 2 came out?
If i was playing with friends it was Campaign! It blew my mind,And that music oh oh oh that music was Incredible! i still listen to Halo soundtracks everyday! they're spectacular in every way.

Then Halo 2 came out and i had to get the internet! Then i became obsessed with Halo 2 and meet great friends online.
Went even more crazy for Halo…

Im still madly obsessed with Halo to this day!
    I love Halo Wars 1 and 2
Master Chief Collection is the ultimate package!
Halo 4 and 5 are all types of Awesome!
Halo 3 ODST is my fav Campaign and fav music!

Nintendo Switch Super Mario Odyssey,The Legend of Zelda BOTW
    Gamer for life!

    • You tried "Halo Online" ?
If not, it's Halo 3 multiplayer on the PC, at 60fps. You'll have to Google it as it's harder to setup now that 343 Studios have tried to shut it down.
I listen to all the Halo soundtracks prior to Martin O'Donnell leaving, at least a few times per month.

I never liked (or finished) Halo 5 although I own it, and haven't played Halo Wars 2.

      • I have a very old PC. One of these days ill have to build a gaming PC.
But right now just console games. Looks like people really enjoyed Halo Online. Is it still going or did they shut it down?
I thought Halo 5 had best combat and gameplay for a Halo game ever! Just the shitty story let it down. But i have finished the game over 10 times with friends and by myself on all difficulties. I loved it.
Multiplayer was amazing and felt like the Halo 2 days! Halo 5 soundtrack was surprisingly great also.
Nothing close to Martin O'Donnell but worthy of Halo soundtrack!
I hope somehow they can get Marty and steve vai back for Halo Infinite!?!

    • +1

I must admit when I first played Halo it was soo good and it changed my mind on the FPS on consoles other than that the OST became part of my Juke box.
Personal favourite Silent Cartographer Walk in the woods

      Halo Reach is my favorite.

Forza Horizon 4 demo is out and it's really gorgeous.

Saturn Fighters Megamix was one of my favorites.

Wii has the best gun games library

      RE2 remake is coming yay!

Zelda BOTW is the best Zelda

I am starting to get rid of my retro consoles/games as its taking too much space especially when it's sharing with my manga and anime collection.

I love the Xbox too and I have recently upgraded to 3x Xbox one x around the house.

      Gamer for Life indeed.

      • Haha very nice! 3 X1Xs very cool!
I have 1 Xbox1x,1 Xbox1S and 1 Xbox one Halo 5 edition throughout the house.
When i get another 4k tv ill get another. that White X1X looks sexy!
I i have all retro consoles on display just not hooked up. And a bunch of old titles i used to own.
But i usually just play on my modded Nintendo mini and Snes mini with all systems installed!
        I wish PS4 pro had a 4k bluray player,So strange it doesn't…

That would be like donating money.

Daytona….thats different you learn to drive manual from gear 2 to 4 lol.

don't ever do that, kids….your gearbox will be screwed
2nd thoughts most kids wouldn't know how to drive manual anyway.

This was all before online gaming for me. After this I think it's like venturing into a different era. I'd same gaming 2.0 the experience of being online blew my mind but the games themselves were never as magical.

PC - Halo, dungeon keeper 2, FTL

    360 - Halo 3, COD MW, COD MW 2 then just MW2 MW2 MW2 MW2 I couldn't stop playing online lol

    • Secret of Mana is a beautiful game.

C&C on PSX was a surprise to me as I didn't expect the console to handle it well.

FYI MW2 is now backward compatible on Xbox one/x !

….I did take the "year released" into consideration

    • Pong is like the beginning of video games…

      Solitaire…mine sweepers too?

Tamagotchi ….. not sure how many monsters died in my care

Soul Reaver is nice, not sure why the legacy of Kain series died.

Tekken series..played all of them. Not sure if Heihachi will be ever coming back from the larva but its Tekken anything could happen. lol

Not sure if you can classify Until Dawn as a rpg lol
