Experiences with Travel Package Sites?

So I'm sure to get the ultimate bang for buck out of a holiday, you should probably book every detail yourself. However, the convenience of booking a reasonably cheap holiday with a single transaction is tempting.

With so many sites offering these packages though, it can be hard to differentiate between the decent deals and the ones just peddling the over crowded family resorts.

Anyone got experience with any travel package websites (either good or bad)? Are there ones that are known for consistently putting out good packages, or is filtering through the junk unavoidable?

(Obviously I would also independently look into the reviews of any prospective hotels, resorts, activities etc., this is just seeking any first hand experiences).

take the time to do the research yourself and find what YOU want to do and see and most importantly spend.

yes it is time consuming, but then travelling is the experience of a lifetime so make it worthwhile.

i go overseas every year and would spend close to 3 months just researching, flight, hotels, the area around where i'm staying and price trends.
