Bank of Melbourne Amplify Qantas Card

Hi guys,

Quick question - if I've already been a St.George's customer for the Amplify Qantas card in the past 12 months, can I apply for the Bank of Melbourne one and still get the Qantas points?

Thanks.

  • No you can't.

St George, Bank of Melbourne and Bank of SA all fall within the same branch, owned by Westpac. Same terms and conditions apply for them - if you have owned one in the last 12 months, you can't take advantage of another bank's promotion.

    • Does that apply to a Westpac branded card as well? E.g. Can I get the bonus points on a St George card if I've had a Westpac card in the last 12 months?

      Thx

OP what you can probably do however is have the St George card and the Westpac card.

bargainhunter87's post had me worried for a minute so did some digging to make sure what I initially thought is (probably) right. I applied for the BoM Amplify Platinum a few months back and already received my 50K QFF points.

Last month I applied for the Westpac Altitude Platinum and have almost hit the spend crtieria for its bonus QFF points (60K from memory).

        1) Can't tell if Amplify = Altitude
        2) Looking at T&C - BoM says cannot have an Amplify card issued by one of the other Westpac entities but does not mention Westpac itself. Westpac just says cannot have had another Altitude card and doesn't mention the other Westpac entities.

To me it seems you can have both cards - or at least the T&C aren't clear about it that you could make an argument over it.

        BoM:
*Bonus points promotion: The respective bonus points promotions are available when you apply and are approved for a new Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature credit card between 27th September 2018 and 23rd January 2019, and spend the minimum amount of $4,000 on eligible purchases on an Amplify Signature credit card or $2,000 on eligible purchases on an Amplify Platinum credit card within 90 days from card approval.

Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments. Existing customers who currently hold a Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.

        Westpac:
^Bonus points promotion: The respective bonus points promotion is available when you apply and are approved for a new Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black card between 9th August 2018 and 27th November 2018 and spend the minimum amount of $3,000 on eligible purchases on an Altitude Black card or $3,000 on eligible purchases on an Altitude Platinum card within 90 days from card approval in one or more transactions.

Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, BPAY, BPAY equivalent transaction, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. The bonus Altitude Points or Qantas Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks once you meet the eligible spend criteria. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. Qantas Points earned during a statement cycle are added to your Qantas Points balance on a monthly basis.

        • Thanks.

I had the St George Amplify a few months ago and cancelled it once I got my points.

I also got the Westpac altitude and I'm nearly there in terms of spends. :)

I have some expenses coming up in the next month or so and was looking for cheap options to earn QFF points is concerned. Not eligible for ANZ its not yet been 12 months since I last had that one.

Quick question - If I've held the ANZ QFF Black and the Rewards Black in the past 12 months, can I apply for the ANZ Rewards travel adventures and get the 80k bonus velocity points if I hit my spends?

I know its not QFF but I am wondering if I can swap the velocity points for QFF with someone.

          • @neovin: Yes that is fine - ANZ Rewards is considered different family to the QFF ones.

  • Thanks. Appreciate the clarity.
