I'm guessing you'll have to pay customs on the full RRP ($2k), which is another $200?

    • +1

Well on the T&Cs it says - "The price is final price. NO extra tax". YMMV!

      • This is what I'm trying to work out.

I put one in my cart and there was no mention of eBay collecting the GST there.
From their website they use couriers, so could be hit with GST on import through the courier.

But yes, they say "no extra tax".

        Have sent them a message.

        • +2

Replying to this as I've received a response. Guess I gotta buy one!

          Hi

          Thank you for contacting us.

With regards to your enquiry, we ship our orders with special logistics arrangement, therefore all you need to pay is the price listed on our website; no GST, import fees nor any other hidden charges. Any GST or customs duties incurred will be settled by us. In other words, the price you see on the website is the final price you pay for the product.

any offer for the mavic 2?

    • +2

      This is the Mavic 2.

      • i meant the pro version.

  • I am happy with my Air.
Why do you keep posting offer of the Mavic zoom or 2? I now feel the need for upgrade! lol

    • the air is great. it's actually more crash-resistant than the larger drones because of its short, stubby arms haha.

      • I love it. I just would like a bit more of range. At 2.0km in FCC I struggle ;)

        • +3

          …struggle to maintain line-of-sight!

        • Try 5.8Ghz

          • @BargainKen: done, still struggling. What range can you get? (I suppose you have one)

            • @ets27: Try channel 149 or 165 (manually select). I was barely getting 200-300m on 2.4Ghz. For me at least, it was night and day difference. You should be seeing about 2.5-3km range or 4km if using FCC trick. The problem with the Air is its a wifi quad so once it picks a frequency, it lock into that for the duration of flight until you change batteries and reboot.

Id be weary of range tests (legalities aside) with the air simply due to the small battery increases the risk of losing your bird. My aim is for a more stable clean FPV feed.

              • @BargainKen: I will try , thanks mate!
Problem is (again legality aside) when I fly in congested Areas is really hard to get past 2km.
                I guess Occusync might help?

                • @ets27: Ocusync will constantly scan and look for a clean channel. On the old Pro it was only operating on 2.4Ghz so it would constantly hop to a new frequency. On Ocusync 2.0, 5.8 Ghz is also available it gives it much more latitude for a clean channel. I often find my Mavic 2 start off in 2.4Ghz but will flip to 5Ghz shortly after and stay there as its much cleaner.

Even though 5Ghz is used widely in Wifi networks, it wont penetrate walls/roofs etc the way 2.4Ghz does, so in a RF Noisy area, 5Ghz remains relatively clean.

                  • @BargainKen: Wow you seem to know very well what you are doing, thanks for the explanation!
Which Mavic do you have? pro2 or zoom?

  • +1

I have had to replace a part with my Mavic only after 5 months. Encourage buying local because support is that much easier!

  • No no no no no no !!!!
what kind of monster would post this on payday… please have mercy!

    • +6

This M2Z post might only come once every few months but your pay day comes every month.

  • Bought with help from some leftover ebay vouchers. Absolute cracker of a deal particularly if you are not one to care much about use log-profiles and post-video editing. The zoom actually provides as sharp if not sharper video compared with the pro. Dynamic range isn't obviously as good which would be the one of the main reasons to get the pro.

    • +1

Most people are going for the Pro it seems, the Zoom isnt really getting the attention it deserves. Its actually quite good and sufficient for most, but the price difference people are preferring to pay a little more for the Pro model (not that they'd even know what to do with a 1" sensor).

      • Are people really going more for the Pro though? When they were announced I was immediately interested in the Pro due to 1” sensor, but almost all reviews and yourtubers raved about the zoom.

My zoom arrives next week, can’t wait!

        • Yep, harder to find and if the Mavicpilots forum is anything to go by, its far more active. Some people on that forum in the USA actually think paying RRP on the pro is a "Good deal".

          • @BargainKen: Fair enough! I guess a lot of people want ‘The best IQ’, but the zoom looks super versatile to me which won me over, even though I’m normally on of those suckers for quality and have an A7r, Hasselblad and a bunch of Zeiss lenses.

      • +1

Yep - I ordered the Pro a few days ago - then again my use is for still photography and rarely for video so I want the 1" sensor and the enhanced DR and resolution

        • reviews show mavic pro2 has bad video quality due to 'line skipping' (I don't know what the means) & mavic pro and air give better video quality but for pictures the pro would be the one to get

          • -1

@bobvegas: That was a beat up (click bait) - the M2P has to downsample the higher native res footage down to 4K (when using the FOV mode) or you can shoot in crop (they call it HQ) mode which directly samples the 4K pixel area from the centre of the sensor. So when shooting in FOV mode the M2P does have to "get rid of some data" to reduce the pixel count down to a 4K size.
Line skipping (if it did that - which it doesn't) would reduce the sampled data by half (because it only takes the data from every second line down the sensor) - this is however not what is required - they want to go from about 5K down to 4K - essentially reducing a higher res image down into a slightly lower res one (to get down to 4K)

          • +1

@bobvegas: Not "Bad" per se, softer, less sharp image when using the FOV mode (wider angle) which seems to resemble upscaled 2.7k video. In HQ mode the FOV is reduced to 55degrees and comes out nice and sharp. The jury is out as to why DJI did this though (Thermal issues with sensor, overheating/underpowered SoC etc).

Worth noting, the gimbals from the Zoom and Pro can be swapped, so if you are able to source a Pro gimbal/camera assembly, you can change it out yourself (6 screws). I believe DJI will also be offering a gimbal swap service in the near future. (Zoom -> Pro, Pro -> Zoom). So in theory you can upgrade this Zoom to a Pro without shelling out for a new drone.

    • Yeah I've got the Pro, wouldn't mind a zoom to go with it. Did you get charged any GST at checkout? At $1399 I'm pretty keen, but if you have to pay $200 extra on import it kills the deal.

      • No GST on checkout. We shall see whether I get hit with any import tax but if the T&C mentions that I shouldn't, then that's a bit more reassuring

  • Any Spark promos? Or Air?

  • I was about to pull the trigger, then I read you have to send it to the UK if there are any issues. That could end up being pretty expensive.

    • Same here, and cannot bind with Australian DJI refresh care :(

  • +1

I'm really unsatisfied with my dji spark.

range is supposed to be 5km more like 200m

Whenever I take it somewhere interesting such as on holiday something always goes wrong like it won't connect, or it needs to do an update etc. It's never simple and stressfree.

In one of the updates they nerfed the use of a usb cable between your phone and the remote control.

They also seem to have nerfed the regular speed of the drone - sports mode is still fast, but regular mode is slower than previously.

    I wouldn't buy dji again

    • +1

I think if you had the Mavic Pro you would have a different experience, I never had range problems with mine and it could certainly go a long way away. It uses different technology to the Spark and Air for its wireless connection.

    • are you using your phone as the controller or the dji controller? you should get a better range with the dji controller

      • i am using the controller connected wirelessly to view on my phones screen to control the drone per DJI instructions. I used to use an OTG usb cable until they nerfed it (e.g. battery % etc not viewable on phone if connected by usb) so now i run it wirelessly

        • +1

the air & spark use wifi. You have the same problems as you do with wifi broadband congestion. would be better performance away from cities. Mavic's don't use wifi so have much better range without dropouts

    • Mmm.. just used the OTG cable last week and it works.

    • I had issues like this as well and switching from Samsung S8 to iPhone fixed it

    • I have a Phantom 4 (and love the rock solid reliability of the connection and the range - but not so much the size for taking on location and travelling, etc)

I also bought a Spark - and like you are very disappointed with the instability of the WiFi based connection (I used the DJI controller and have an iPhone and was still very unhappy with it - essentially the realistic range (at least in any vaguely urban areas) totally sucks and like you also experienced frequent inability to get the various parts to talk at all - not just the frequent video cutouts when flying) - I gave it away to my parents

I've recently ordered the Mavic 2 Pro and expecting with Occusync 2 to be back in the happy camp again

    • Spark's range is given as around 2km ain't it?

      • Quoted as FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.3 mi (500 m) - however I sometimes found it to be extremely unreliable even at 50m or less

  • Great price, also curious on tax. If they declare it under $1,000 I'd probably buy it. If anyone gets a response please let us know!

Also would cashrewards work with this coupon? Extra $13 off doesn't hurt!

    • yeah if cash rewards helps and sent as a gift or under 1k ill pull the trigger on this too

      • can you guys let me know what is the interest in $1000. Didn't harvey norman prevent us getting gst free under $1000. Is there another benefit?

  • Great price. But since we can't buy local DJI Care Refresh for grey stock, it can be very expensive if things go wrong.

    • Is that new rules from DJI? I think previously it was possible to get Care Refresh regardless of where the drone is bought from

      • +1

They changed it before Mavic 2 was released.

“DJI Care Refresh and the corresponding product must be purchased from the same country or region. DJI Care Refresh only supports aircraft purchased from official or authorized channels, and its benefits are only eligible in the region where it was purchased.”

        https://m.dji.com/product/dji-care-refresh-mavic-2?site=bran…

        • Hot damnm didn't know this…

  • What's RTF kit?

    • Ready-to-fly

      • Is it just a basic pack right?

        • Correct.
          RTF includes:
          1 x Drone
          1 x Controller
          1 X Battery
          1 x Charger
          6 x Props
          3 x Controller cables
          1 x gimble Protector
          1 x USB charging cable
1 x Power Cable for Charger

  • Im getting: This code can't be applied to your order.????

    • Are you a ebay plus member?

    • Do you have eBay plus?

      • Yes signed up for plus trial specifically ti get this deal and keeps saying code cant be applied. Spent 3 hrs onto Ebay support to fix issue and they are useless.

No doubt out if stock once I hear back from them with a fix

  • Waiting on an Air promo. These drones are better, but the compactness of the air is a huge plus for me.

  • Doesn't eBay normally charge gst automatically for offshore items above 1k? Can't see it happening in cart

    • No, it automatically charge for below 1k.

  • +1

Great price. I have owned 3 DJI drones and will only go local stock for when/if something goes wrong.

    • This is my 3rd ..spark, Mavic pro, Mavic pro zoom.
      Mavic pro was a US
      Got no qualms about intl

  • I had a US bought DJI Mavic Pro and had Aust flymore attached to it. I was able to claim via Australia flymore. Shouldn't be an issue.

They did say repairs would need to be sent to US but I just activated the fly more replacement instead.

    • Pretty sure they've changed their policy. From the DJI website:
      14. Does DJI Care Refresh support international coverage?
No, at the moment, DJI Care Refresh only works within one coverage region. DJI Care Refresh and the corresponding product must be purchased from the same country or region.

  • -4

I don't understand why you would want to zoom your drone. Unless you are trying to creep on someone!

    • To maybe zoom in on the subject of your photo or video? Zooming isn't restricted to perving on someone.

    • Look up dolly zoom effect.

      Also look up composition.

    • No stalker lens on this one mate. You'll probably have to wait a few more years for that model.

  • +1

This price is frankly insane. If there was a similar deal on the Mavic 2 Pro, I would have bought it faster than I could text my partner that we’re significantly poorer.

    • ^ i Second that!

  • This hurts my soul! more so my bank account but yeah haha

  • I'm interested but is the quality comparable to the Pro if I'm a first time flyer? Where can I fly it if I live inner city in Melb?

    • Not a chance to fly it in the city, too many laws and restrictions, better off going to outback or somewhere remote.

    • Where can I fly it if I live inner city in Melb?

Anywhere but in the city, within the regulations

      Try this for information.

    • Some deep technical testing of the pro has revealed some pretty poor optics and poor sensor performance. Check youtube for a deep dive on the Mavic 2 Pro. If you're serious about photography, look to the P4P - the only issue is its quite bulky.

  • Signed up to Ebay plus yesterday to get this deal.
Went to purchase says code cannot be applied to order. Have spent 3 hrs on the phone to 3 different morons in the Philipines who have no idea what day it is let alone able to provide any support for Ebay plus.

Guess I'll cancel the so called plus trial and wait for a better deal in the future.

    • I had the issue applying certain ebay coupons after I had changed my home country on my account to USA (to take advantage of the ebay USA deals etc). After I had changed it back to Aus, the codes worked.

  • Wah, this is the price when I paid for my Mavic Pro, 2 years ago. =USD$999

  • Big caution to anyone considering this deal. You will not get any warranty in Australia. I've had 4 different model DJI drones (P3A, P4, P4P and a Mavic air) and I've had to send each one back 4-6 times for warranty repairs (cracked shell, gimbal issues etc). My P4P has been replaced 5 times. You will save potentially thousands by buying an Australian model. Just a warning.

  • Bought one, thx OP

  • Lol just received mine, no tax. They declared cost as 199 haha.

    • Wow.. super fast shipping, when did you bought it? and from which DJI region on the box?

  • Just received mine too from this deal.. Wow.. I am impressed. Less than a week. It is sealed and it is UK version.

  • Anyone find a way of getting DJI refresh on these?

    • When I activated my china zoom, it offered me Aussie care refresh during the activation process. Never went thru with the transaction so I don't know if it would have worked or not.
