Asus Notebook Vs Lenovo Notebook

Hey just wondering what laptop to get out of these two. I will mainly be using it for uni, but occasionally maybe some overwatch, video editting, fruitloops etc.

ASUS UX310UA-GL678

  • 13.3 inch IPS full hd
  • i5 7200u
  • intel graphics
  • 8gb ddr4
  • 256GB SATA3 M.2 SSD

Where as the Lenovo v330

  • 14 inch full HD tn panel
  • i7 8550u
  • 8gb ram (dosent say which)
  • amd radeon 530 2gb GDDR5 graphics
  • 256gb SSD PCIe

There both rougly the same price ($1100)
The lenovo spec wise seems to be better, but idk how the cooling is on this laptop, might cause overheating.

Also the asus has a ips screen which is much better then the lenovos tn

What do you guys think

  • If you're going to be doing any gaming, then the Lenovo hands down. It has (much) better graphics, and as a bonus, a TN panel for (probably) faster response times, despite IPS generally being better overall.

No idea about cooling tbh, and check online if the i7-8550u in that notebook throttles or not due to thermals.

  • +1

I would choose the lenovo, but the screen might not be good but the rest of the specs are better like quad core CPU and GPU (although not that much better).

  • Lenovo would be miles better in terms of build quality

The 8th gen i7 CPU will be much much faster than the 7th gen i5 in the Asus.

Radeon 530 graphics are pretty basic IMHO but still better than Intel integrated.

The only shortfall is the TN screen (the Asus IPS probably won't be that great either to be honest)

  • Lenovo build quality seems to have always been good.

  • Lenovo hands down.

Though that TN pannel sucks, the other specs more than make up for it.
