Both Acrobits softphones include push notifications in the one off purchase price.
Similar apps charge around $1/month for access to their push notification service.

If you have never heard of Acrobits Sip apps there is a similar app with lots of features for free but uses more memory.

  • Their softphone app has also been reduced - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.acrobits.so…
    Expires in 1 day.

  • Those reviews dude. :/

  • What advantages does this have over something free like csipsimple which works fine for me?

    • CSipSimple doesn't have push notifications. Acrobits includes push notifications in the price with no ongoing subscription fees. A similar app has a $0.99 subscription to get access to push notifications.

"just pay $0.99 USD / month or $9.99 USD / year"

CSipSimple was last updated 30 November 2014 but if it still works fine for you why can't other apps be built to be as future proof?

I stopped using it years ago as another app had a feature I needed that it was never going to get but still covers the basics and is getting good reviews.

      • I don't see the advantage of push notifications on Android. My vague recollection is that it was important long ago on apple devices, because apple devices didn't allow apps to run when the device was sleeping, so the push notification was a way around that - it woke up the device when someone called you, allowing the app to answer the call.

At the time, for apple devices, Acrobits was the only SIP client that worked. But android had multiple free options that worked, so Acrobits was never big on Android.
