CC to use for ATO transactions

Is there a CC that I can use to pay ATO some money whilst getting points on those transactions?

Of course, I want to do it as Bpay transaction from my CC account to ATO so I dot get charged by ATO for the transaction fees.

I've been able to do the Bpay part via my VirginMoney and NAB CC but seems like I am not getting any points on those transactions from CC company…

Log into ATO first to see IF you can even pay with a CC.

    Payment options in the menu

    • Yes payment via CC is allowed… directly from ATO site incurs surcharge but the way to avoid that is to pay via BPAY from the bank… say login to Citibank - do a bpay payment from CC account to ATO…

this way the surcharge is avoided but Citibank is not giving points as its an ATO transaction…

      • hmm… bpay from cc

does this trick works for all that charges surcharges on payment funded by cc ?

You can pay the ATO using Amex I believe.

However there's a surcharge and Amex have lower earn rates on government spend.

Not worth it using my calculations

I've heard of a loophole where you can buy iTunes cards with AMEX then use them to pay the ATO.

    • Yea and you can do it over the phone. So convenient.

  • Most, if not all cards, don't pay any points on BPay transactions - its not just to the ATO; but any bill through BPay. Hence, I always pay direct using the vendors cc facility or preferably, if they have paypal.
