    What a rip

    • Agree. I got an Xs 64g from the recent Mobilcity deal at 11% off and I'll get TRS for another 10% making it $1300 odd. Paying a 1k for this is wrong.

  • +7

wow, iphone 7 still asking for $1k

You can get an XS 64GB for just a bit more than that with the $500 JB hifi rebate.

      With a $65 plan 24 month plan

      • Yep, weak comparison leaving out the 'small print'.

      • a $65 plan 24 month plan

        with 80Gb

(don't leave out the 'small print')

        • it's 45Gb

          (weak comparison)

          • @18: A friend got 80Gb for that price.

do people still pay 1k for an old generation iphone?

I listed an iphone 8 64gb brand new in sealed box in gumtree, and the most offer amount was $570. "I can pay a bit more for iphone x" this is what they said.

This is not much of a bargain as I got a red one which was the same price 12 months ago from jb as well. Taking in depreciation this is not worth it. And you shouldn’t really compare buying from gumtree and a proper store.

      • that is what I am saying, people won't pay 1k for old generation iPhone. 1k for 64 XR seems to be a good deal though.

I know stuff from gumtree supposed to be cheaper than retail price, but the question is by how much? I listed brand new iphone 8 64 gb at 700 (local pick up), which is about 30% less than RRP.

If someone has a brand new iPhone XR in a sealed box and asks for about $850, I would be extremely happy to buy.

        • If I were in the market for one, I wouldn’t pay more than $650. But if I’m selling one, I’d list $700 too cause everyone negotiate on gumtree. Just ignore the low ballers. Entry model old iPhones are hard to sell.

          • @Prince K: $720 was what I ask for. Eventually, I gave it one of my friends. He might list it as "unwanted gift" as well. Don't really understand why people buy old generation phones.

@zhangqin2211: Can’t afford the newer models? 7 plus is still a very good phone

              • +1

@Griffindinho: I apologize for the miscommunication. I mean I don't understand people are still paying RRP for older generation phones (999$ for an iPhone7 plus) where they can get newer one from gumtree for much cheaper.

              • @Griffindinho: 128gb is their sales pitch, if you can make do with 64gb there are better apple deals around.

yep, they want ios and have limited budget so they buy the best phone they can with the money they have that runs current ios.

it’s not like android where 2 year old phone is the last hardware to get update …..apple phones still get latest ios after 4 years ….

                • @garage sale: Yeah I know that’s why I still have my 6s 64gb. Just needed a new battery.

  • Before anyone buy this, google stained jet black iPhone. You’d get these weird water marks after a couple months ans I assume that’s what apple calls abrasions.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414600 - granted only 64 GB but 8 is much more newer.

    • yep, for me 64 gb is more than enough and i’d preffer the newer hardware …. i always dump /backup stuff to my laptop if it’s of value, and usually delete old stuff from phone so other things are easier to find.

how often do people watch movies twice ?
and i stream as i get netflix for free on my plan and 60gb data that never gets all used when i watch you tube.

  • an iPhone 7 plus with 128GB of storage for a reasonable price

This is not a reasonable price for a phone that's 2+ years old.

  • +3

    $1k for a 2016 phone 😂 😂 🤣 🤣 🤣

Edit: I don’t hate apple. I still have a 6s which is still very good.

which means they are worth the price.

      • worth the price.

        that's just one opinion…

      • bro, please be rational, how is that worth the price..

  • I personally also think that this is a rip off price for a 2 year old phone.

I'm hoping to buy a second hand red iPhone 7 plus or 8 plus, please PM if interested. Thank you.

  • And you called it reasonable price!

  • +3

The price is very good. Just the deal comes 2 years late

  • lol

  • $1000 for a two year old phone ahahhahahahhaha

  • +1

  • my phone is worth how much?? LOL

  • +1

This phone is 2 years old…

The iphone 8 256gb should be around this price.

  • It is $849 now

    • Nah that's the standard (non-plus) version.
