PayPal response time against FOS/AFCA dispute

Hey all, hope you're enjoying the weekend.

Just a real quick question, I lodged a dispute against PayPal with the AFCA (formerly FOS) on 26 October regarding a ~$90 dispute which was incorrectly decided in the seller's favour. PayPal's response to the dispute is required by 29 November, this Thursday, but so far neither the AFCA or myself have received a response from them.

Just asking generally, how long did it take for PayPal to respond to your dispute (if you ever raised one) and what's the process if they don't respond (not sure how likely this is because I heard they get charged a fee every time a dispute has to get decided by the AFCA themselves)?

Also, this may sound like a stupid question, but do they get around to responding to each and every dispute?

Thanks everyone!

PayPal's response to the dispute is required by 29 November

The deadline isn't due until another 4 business days. Just wait and see.

    • Yes, a bit of an update on this, they didn't end up responding, but I emailed their executive escalations team who figured out that they had missed the email somehow. They eventually responded and resolved the issues.

  • Has dispute raised to PayPal? If you just open dispute PayPal won't do anything.

    • This wasn't a PayPal dispute between a buyer and seller, it was a dispute between PayPal and myself with the AFCA (formerly known as the FOS)

  • Is eBay involved?

    • No, this was a dispute I opened between the AFCA and PayPal. Nothing to worry about now, it's since been resolved.
