I should hand back my OzB licence… I got all nostalgic when I saw this on the Lego site not long after release. Couldn't find anything cheaper elsewhere. In fact on eBay the prices were way over RRP, so I grabbed it on the Lego site for RRP =(
First time I bought Lego since I was a kid. Was so much fun to build. The quality and closeness to the real representation was worth it!

Do what I did and buy another with a discount. That way you can have the 5 loins plus voltron and on average you've paid less than retail. And the OzBargain way of buying more stuff you really didn't need but it was a bargain.

Lego store was cheaper than every single eBay listing so I bought it from there.Buy one from DJ's and return it to LEGO store. LEGO Store has a 90 day return policy.

I got 2 so I can display both forms and then got the added bonus of 2 x Lego Christmas Ornament (spend $75 or more on Lego at Myer) and Myer One points

There's a Chinese version a clone of this somewhere. Saw some news from Hong Kong about how dodgy the copy is hard to assemble

It's inflated because it's rare now, prices on eBay are the same. Doubt if anyone will buy it at this price. I originally bought it 2 years ago for US$299 + shipping. Was surprises that Amazon had it for sale in the first place at RRP and was willing to ship it here.
There might be a re-issue, so hold your wallet tight till then.
@Yummy: Not sure if they will do a re-issue so soon. Anyway even if Amazon stocks it, not sure if they will ship here and we now have to pay GST as well. Can always get it on eBay but then you pay a premium.

Lepin is garbage.
It's possibly excusable in the case of display-only models, for retired and highly desirable sets that cost 4-5 times their original RRP on the resale market. Though I still refuse to support them due to the fact that they are notorious even among Lego clone manufacturers for never producing a single original design and only shamelessly copying existing Lego sets.
Other than that, for in-production Lego, there's absolutely no reason anyone should be buying Lepin, unless you want:
- No outer box.
- No numbered bags.
- Knock-off manual with Chinglish and/or misspelled sticker sheets.
- Missing pieces, broken pieces, the wrong pieces for your set, bent or deformed pieces with no parts replacement policy from the seller.
- Weak brick clutch with some parts refusing to stay together and requiring super-glue.
- Weird oily residue on bricks.
- Poor brick tolerances leading to pieces not fitting together as intended.
- Supporting the scummy Chinese clone and counterfeiting industry.

Called a few DJs stores today and nobody ever answered the phone. So I went to a few DJs today and none had stock. I also went to a few MYER none of which answered the phone or had stock.
I asked the last DJs I went to and they said oh they’re sold out in WA so that’s that.
Went online to try to order it from DJs and the order button removed because they’re out of stock.
Priced match with DJ and bought the last one from my local Myer store.
Priced match + Myer one = $192 :)))
I still have one more coming from DJ on order from interstate with 25% off.
I'm going to display the combined Voltron with the 5 lions :))))))
