  • Great price for mesh system

    • thanks

  • i m using this one at home, doing greatly atm. cant complain at this price

    • yes, i use and like it too.

  • this or Orbi?

    • I was just about to ask this.

    • Tenda seems to have better value but it depends on how much money are you willing to spend.

  • Noob question - how is this different from a range extender?

    • +1
    • +1

Range extender creates a new wireless ssid and rebroadcasts, a mesh is a single ssid that hands over clients between units. Simple answer: get mesh

      • +1

Not 100% true. You can now purchase range extenders that can mesh with your existing router and provide seamless roaming using same SSID (eg Netgear ex7700).

  • +1

You get get the triple packs of both models far cheaper on ebay.

    • +1

      Link?

    • -1

please note that some items on ebay is not for Australian, so it will not covered by local warranty.

    • or Aliexpress too. Buy 1 spare to cover warranty concerns and still cheaper than this price.

  • Alternatively, you can get two Razer Portal for $160 from Ebay ( can be set up for Mesh)

  • +1

bit cheaper at newegg too, with free shipping

    • I think newegg has the 2 pack MW6 for $198 delivered, is this the same product? NEWEGG MW6 2 pack

  • Noob question. Is it a rounter? Can be used with nbn hfc?

    • yes it can work with nbn hft.

  • What's the difference with MW3 and MW6? They both seems to be AC1200

    • +1

MW6 is more powerful than MW3 in terms of coverage and the device that it can handle. MW3 3 pack can cover 300 sqm, and MW6 can cover 500sqm.

  • +1

FYI, the WAN/LAN ports on MW3 are only 100Mpbs. Practically, the internet speed exceeds 95Mbps but copying files on Ethernet is a pain.
Source: I got a triple MW3 system at home

  • the price is doubled comparing to the price in china

    • So is everything else that's from China.

  • I got the MW6 3 mesh router pack- excellent mesh network upgrade you could have for the $$.
Boasting my wifi throughout the whole house where I used to struggle on my top floor bedroom. I'm on NBN 50 with TPG and speedtest has given me around 47MBps around 7pm-9pm in the last few days. Ionly got like 40Mbps before the upgrade with my Archer D7 and a wifi extender on 5Ghz.
But I got it cheaper on ebay from a local seller for <$200 with a 10% ebay code. Arrived in <3days.

    • WAN/LAN ports are 1000Mbps?

      • 100mbps in MW3 and 1000mbps in MW6.

  • How's this when compared with Google Wi-Fi mesh.

  • How would this compare to 2 x rt-ac68u routers? I need router client vpn and vpn server functions.

  • I got the mw3 and I posted detailed notes of my experience with it here:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/415050

A month on I’m still happy with it. It works well with minimal setup, but just be aware that the features are very basic. Ok if you don’t tinker much, but might be deal breaker to others.

Perhaps the biggest limitation is that you cannot change the wifi channels - it is stuck on channel 6 for 2.4Ghz band and 40 on 5Ghz band. If you have neighbours that are using those channels then you might not get the best performance.

    Happy to answer any questions.

    • As i have fixed ip set up for my home security, can i still use this? I would saybas long as the default gateway IP address dont change from my modem it should work.

Also do i just need to turn off the wifi function from my D7000 then connect the Ethernet from my D7000 to the main MW3?

Thanks for you answer in advance

      • Hmm worst case scenario you could just use the wireless function behind your existing router

        • I think this may be the best choice

      • With dhcp it can’t manually assign ips. If you manually assign one though I’m not sure whether it’s smart enough to detect that it is use before assigning it.

  • is it possible to add a VPN service to the router?

also do these work ok with the Sonos systems ? cos songs uses wifi i think for the audio and linking speakers.

    • +1

it supports vpn:IPsec pass through, PPTP pass through, L2TP pass through, and it also work with sonos system.

    • +1

OP is just quoting from specs.
With VPN it doesn't have a VPN client/server running on the device, but only allows VPN traffic pass through. Important distinction!

      https://www.home-network-help.com/vpn-pass-through.html

  • Op. About to order but it came out the delivery is charged?

    • Flat postage of $6.95, or free postage for order more than $150

  • OP:

Does the mesh system allow for (1) reservation of static IPs on local network, (2) DDNS with NO-IP, (3) allow for physical link to another switch to allow usage of the mesh + a few other equipment hooked up to the switch for cabled link, (4) local support or is the call routed to China, (5) is tech support limited to the number of warranty years or is it similar to TP Link support where their support dont even ask for warranty status and are always happy to help with support on their own products?

    • +1

Also, if I purchase two sets of the MW6, is there a "master" cube that has to be used to connect up all the other cubes OR, are all the cubes the same and it is easy to add more cubes (for coverage) as we go along?

      • It is easy to add more cubes. Just plug the power on, the cubes will automatically add under the master.

  • Its the great product with great price.

  • I’m deciding on mw3 or mw6.
The mw3 is better value. But thinking if I need the mw6.

I had the archer d7 or whatever you call it and it reached the end of the house but not that good in speed.
Thinking if I get a mw3 would be food enough cos I can add a cube closer to the end of the home.

    • +1

Its depend on the size of your house. But I think MW6 more suitable for your environment.

    • +1

      i would suggest MW6.

      • +1

i got a MW3 (3 packs) from ebay for $125 and just set up yesterday (10 mins)

I have 2 stories single brick home, now I can use chromecast everywhere at home.

I think MW3 would be sufficient for you.

        • But how many years warranty that you get from eBay?

The product is not AU plug right?

          • @Gxhappy120: 1 year i would say and it is not AU plug.

            • @SnoozeAndLose: owwwww, wat if after 1 year, the product fault? no where to replace.

              • @Gxhappy120: if I pay $40 cheaper then 1 year after i can buy MW6 for half the price now, I would be happy.

And it may not 100% broken after 1 year
