    • -5

      like what

      • +2

I assume he means god of war and maybe spiderman.

        • +1
          • Horizon Zero Dawn. Last of Us remastered is also $17 at Big W.
          • -6

@LikeMike: Hmmmm yea. Have you guys played pc games b4?

  • +3

Any pro deals available… Want to buy a PS4 for the kids.

    • +1

      Username does not check out.

    • Just get this, they won't appreciate the Pro.

  • +1

    can these get homebrew?

    • Probably not. You'd need one manufactured before May to be sure.

  • -5

getting a ps4 at this stage is a waste, id get a ps4 pro

    • +2

How? Ps4 slim plays fine at 1080p

      • Seeing as good sources say the PS5 is going to be backwards compatible with PS4 and might be out within a year then buying a cheap Pro at this stage if you can find one would be great for resale or trade in later.

        • These rumours arrive with every new console. I just ignore them.

    • +2

I own a pro, which I just bought a week ago to play exclusives, my brother has a standard PS4. The standard PS4 looks perfectly fine and the only reason I bought a pro was because it was so close in price at the time. For $259 I would have bought this.

      • Hi can you please tell me if it's worth it to have two of the same consoles in the same house?
My brother has a PS4 Pro and I want to buy a PS4 because I hate playing in the living room on a couch, it totally breaks the immersion when it's noisy and people are walking by/in the kitchen etc I just can't focus with that much noise and if it's not the noise then it's people walking in front of the TV.
I'm a PC gamer so buying an xbox makes no sense since I can play Forza, Gears of War, Sunset Overdrive etc on PC but not the PS4 exclusives.
I've been looking at a base model of course because I'm a PC gamer and only want to play the exclusives so the pro is overkill since after I'm done playing the exclusives it will likely sit on my desk collecting dusk. I can't decide whether it's a waste of money or not though.

        • totally breaks the immersion

First world problems. :) Play with headphones?

        • If nobody else is using the PS4 at the time - why not use Remote Play to stream to your PC?

          • @veetor: Well my friend I am one of the few that are still stuck on ADSL2+ which is shared between five people, so you can see the obvious problem here. Getting a youtube video to load in 720p is often a miracle, game streaming is something else entirely.

            • +3

@Ostrk: PS4 remote play can run over the local network, no need for fast internet at all.

              • -1

@mattacrazy: Assuming if it does run (which I doubt it) my internet is too unstable with constant dropouts that would affect the streaming yes?. I'll probably just forget about PS4.

                • @Ostrk: To clarify: you don't need ANY internet for Remote Play. It's all local network. A good router/AP and wired network helps though.

                  • @Kontiki: Oh I see my bad. I still don't know how these services work. Don't have a good router and can't go wired (no way the rest of the fam would approve). Will it still work good on 1-10mbps WiFi?

        • I can't decide whether it's a waste of money or not though.

I don't think it's worth it in your case since you already have a PS4 Pro in your house, just get a Slim, especially if it's just going to be connected to a standard TV in a spare room.

    • Same people say this about the Xbox One S vs X…

    • The Pro is barely more powerful, it doesn’t even do genuine 4K for games.

  • +1

Not bad for a vanilla ps4 but I keep coming back to citing the $285 deal from a couple of years back at JB - the slim plus extra controller and ps4 remote. That was sweet.

    • +1

Amazon had it for $269 and Spider-Man plus $50 cash back on Black Friday

  • Checked online for the ps4 pro. There are none in stock anywhere near me. Will it be likely they will get stock in for this deal?

  • If big w selling it.. Then amazon gonna price match

  • Amazon price match inc

  • $233.10 if got staff discount card

    • +5

How quickly can i get a job with big w?

    • team discount + 5% wish , down to $221.45. hope there will be stock on tuesday

  • Damn it. I have an xbox and the only game I really want to play on playstation is last of us…. I can't think of any other game to make this worthwhile!

    • +3

God of War? Bloodborne? Persona 4? Uncharted? Detroit become human?

    • I've seen people rent a PS4 for a couple of weeks on gumtree, or if you know anyone with a ps4 going away for a holiday just ask to borrow theirs. The Last of Us part 2 looks pretty epic…can't wait.

    • Spiderman

    • Spider-man, Death Stranding

  • OOo Detroit does look good.

The rest don't do anything for me

    • Really? Detroit of all things is the only appealing game?

      • …and Last of Us

I've seen the others and was unimpressed. Maybe they're not the games for me or maybe I'm spoiled having Xbox and Steam.

  • Any other gaming deals in catalogue?

    • Link in description :)

  • Does anyone here know if the slim is able to receive a hard drive transplant?
I changed the hard drive on my original 500gb PS4 tp the Seagate portable 2tb quite easily and I wonder if it's also possible on the "slim" version?

  • What’s the strategy here? Just get jbhifi and ebgames to price match this? Chances of this deal having stock seems pretty low…

    • Eb refused me price match today grr

      • +1

The promo hasn’t started yet so not surprising.

        • they dropped their price on monday omg i got stooged on a pre owned ,.:-(

  • +1

Hi, is this at all big w's including sydney?

  • Doesn't seem to be in the 13-24 Dec catalogue

    • Link in description :)

  • Hopefully Amazon does it then I can use the comm bank $200 voucher

    • Exactly my plan

  • +1

dont most new specials start on a wednesday not a tuesday ?

    • that mite be why its not changed on the website yet perhaps?

      • +2

they do have the new catalog up

  • Amazon have it now for 279

  • Anyone bought a Slim recently and know what firmware they come with? Pro’s have been 5.55+ for a long time but the Slims were taking a little longer to catch up.

  • -1

    Amazon have it for $279.

    • Which is…higher?
So why did you mention it Lol

      • In Case Big W runs out of stock perhaps, and they will

        • -1

Oh I see. No offense but I assumed anyone who wanted a PS4 that urgently already had one? :P

    • +1

Maybe boxing day sales might be cheaper

  • Some good priced games in that catalogue too.

  • I just Googled this and it seems like it doesn't support 4K output like the pro. Still a good deal for those with only FHD TVs.

Prices sure drop fast, seems like yesterday when I bought a PS3 for $100 at a target special.

    • Does not have 4K but displays HDR

      • -1

That will be 1080p HDR not 4k HDR

  • Would we be able to get this in the white console?

  • +2

Looks at the amount of Click it got. The thirst is still real with this one.

  • Would I be able to buy this, not open it, and if a better deal comes around on boxing day, return it?

    • +1

Yes, Big W have a 90 day 'Change of Mind' policy as long as you haven't opened it and have the receipt.

But here's a better idea. You can purchase this from Big W, open it up and play it etc. If within 90 days a better deal pops up at another store, then purchase it and return it brand new to Big W under their 'Change of Mind' policy using your Big W receipt. All barcodes are generic so Big W has no idea you are returning a console you purchased from a different store.

I have never done this myself, but I don't see it as being too dodgy, it's not like you are returning a used console and passing it off as brand new…But that's just me.

      • +2

Never buy one from bigW, but from ebGames, the receipt will have your console serial number in it, so if they check, your plan won't work 😁

        • +2

Oh, well there you go, I had no idea they do that. Maybe it's best not to do it in the first place just to be safe :)

      • +1

thanks, going to be refreshing for the next hour or so.

  • Is the deal up for anyone? It's not up yet for me.

    • not up ,..i am in melbourne,.. EB games have reduced thier consoles already though

      • +1

Wouldn't be surprised if they made it in-store only considering the amount of stock lol.

        • +1

totally, I saw the reduced price in eb games n near cried after i paid 340 for a pre owned :-(

  • Wow remember these being $549 couple years ago, dropped about half price now, wait little longer for New Years should drop a lot more, then buy it, I’m just waiting for the right moment 😊

    • +8

I have the same plan for the Atari 2600.

  • +1

    Deal is active now

  • There's stock at my local but I really don't need one :(

  • +1

I am in St Albans, but the nearest store that has it is Sunbury which is 20 km away. Bought 1 with pick up option. Thanks OP.

    • +1

Lol get the train to Sunbury from St. Albans station

  • +1

    Purchased a 500GB slim in store 7:00am - there were only 3 * 500GB and 0 * 1TB available at store opening (Woden, ACT). e-gift card + woolworths rewards + woolworths rewards bonus 1000 points = $239.76. Thanks OP!

      • In store.
