Credit Card Transaction Items Lost

Hi OZBs,

Missus bought some Christmas gifts yesterday at Westfield and forgot the bag there. She realised quite late in the evening by when the stores had closed. Went in there today morning and checked with the store and lost & found centre as well but no luck. Clearly, someone has taken those. I am new to credit cards so trying to know if there is any feature which accounts for such a scenario. Can somene experienced suggest please?

Thanks for all your comments in advance!

They have been stolen. Report to shopping centre security to see if they have footage of perpetrators for the police. Credit card company I don't believe can help in this situation.

I assume your username refers to your wife's inability to hold onto shopping bags?

    • Thanks exploring that angle, good catch with the name though. I didn't have this in mind when created it :)

    • Stolen or just binned by overnight cleaners, because as far as anyone can tell without opening up the bag/items, they were abandoned/discarded.

  • So you want to claim a refund on your credit card because you left your item somewhere in the shopping centre. Is that correct?

Some cards offer purchase protection for lost goods https://www.americanexpress.com/au/security/shopping-protect… I found this out while trying to see if i had price drop protection, which I unfortunately don’t have

It does seem to have purchase protection. Will give a call to st george to find out. Thanks!

Which card specifically? They all come with different levels of insurance and protection. It is very unlikely she will be covered however

        • Amplify. She is definitely covered as she used my card :)

charged to the cardholder’s eligible credit card account.
This insurance provides automatic protection for personal goods when their
