  • EDIT - Didnt read properly

  • i am new to videography. can you please tell me why i want or need this?

    • So that you have consistent colour rendering, and nice lighting when shooting video in a room that only has fluoros :-)
      Google "video lighting".

A good full starter set for $1000 would be something like this:
      - 2x Yongnuo YN600-II
      - Godox SL-100W
      - 3x Victory 303 Heavy-duty light stands
      - Godox P120L Deep Reflector
      - 2x NP-F970 Battery + Charger

These LED panels in this deal are lower power (25W vs 36W) but are also significantly cheaper, there's no reason they wouldn't work well from what I can see. The CRI95+ means that they should have good color rendering.

      • thank you

i don't want to invest that much yet.

  • Ring light deal next!

And/or the 176 LED as posted before but with battery & AU charger :)

Just something to note, i own one of the 660 LED versions of this light, which is bigger than the 480 LED version listed here, and the 660 is still surprisingly small in size compared to other LED panels i own (which is partially the reason i bought it). According to the "Package dimensions" listed on Amazon the 660 LED is roughly 35cm X 32cm, but this must be in reference to the box it comes in as the actual surface of the LED panel is closer to 21cm X 16cm, which is small for an LED panel. So i would assume the 480 LED panel listed here is going to be even smaller still, so depending on what your buying it for, the end result may be a unit which doesn't produce as "soft" a light as you were hoping for from an LED panel, due to the source being so small.

Who knows? Might be just what you need, but personally i was surprised by the small size when mine arrived. - Photo with obligatory banana for scale

    • What kind of light does the Banana throw?

  • Can this kinda simulate natural light?

    • Not really no, you could use it to supplement existing natural light, or another bigger light source, but you would have real trouble trying to emulate a natural looking light with this unit alone.

  • shame it's adjustable colour temp, would much rather it be all daylight balanced for the extra power.

  • why is this better than the kind with a florescent bulb and a softbox or reflector umbrella?

Mainly convenience, i bought some of these to use on jobs that involved lots of travel (especially domestic flights). I used to use the fluro bulb soft box lights your referring too, but to pack those up for flights was a nightmare. Also traveling with half a dozen extremely fragile glass light bulbs was just a constant hassle, they needed to be packed super carefully and then extra padding and protection was always required unless you wanted half of them to be blown before you arrive, plus it took me about 10 minute to then unpack and setup each light when we arrived at location, these LED panels are good to go in about 60 seconds.

      • oooh that sounds much better for travel. thanks very much.

  • Ive got a few neewer products and they have all performed well.
