They're effectively charging $971 for 960 extra GB of storage, which is a lot more than the per GB cost of a 970 Pro/Evo. Otherwise buy the 64GB model and it's cheaper than a starting 2018 iPhone. When viewed that way, it isn't all that bad.
Remember, iPhones can exceed $2000 also.
Definitely the best tablet and best range of made for it apps (I am using one now). Power exceeds many laptops and a much better tablet than the Surface Pro 3 I once had.
However it is hobbled as Apple for some reason is opposed to giving the OS real file management and peripheral support. Until it does it is not yet a true laptop replacement.
That said, for most people the basic run of the mill iPad will do and it’s heaps cheaper.I tend to agree but, man, it is fast and not having the physical button is great.

This is a bit misleading. It benches better than a lot of laptops. Benchmarks don't simulate real world use. What this thing has is burst speed. It can't sustain it long before thermal throttling though. If you have a processor of that speed in a thin body with low TDP and no fan, you're going to hit its thermal limits quickly.
I really wish CD Project would port Witcher 3 to iOS so we can have some actual real world benchmarks between this iPad Pro and the 92% of laptops it is supposedly faster than. But even then it would likely be a scaled down version and wouldn't be an apples to apples comparison.

Depends what you're doing with it. But keep in mind you are comparing a 2015 product with a 2018 product. For reasons you state later, it can never replace a Windows device for me due to the artificial hobbling of iOS and by extension the device's potential. For me this would be a mobile browser and youtube device to supplement my Windows devices. For actual movie watching I prefer a 16:9 device so that it doesn't shrink my image to something tiny with big borders.
Oh and headphone jack. I hate BT headphones because I care about audio quality.

No, I did not use eBay plus code. I don't think any two voucher codes can be stacked, so 20% is better than 15%. The gift cards I mentioned are from previous eBay UK deals.

As much as I'd love to buy a surface for BYOD my firm is pretty strict on permitted devices to connect and hence my choices are limited to iOS and a few android brands eg Chinese brands are blocked, as are any rooted or custom decides (eg an Android emulator on a windows machine). Is there anything better than an iPad pro for this purpose? I've been using the 12.9 last gen since our company has gone Google and use the apps which work surprisingly well on iOS too but it's a tad heavy to carry around.
These new iPad pro’s are miles ahead any of the competitors, the 11 inch is also super portable and light and is the one I’d recommend
Yup, I like all 11 inches of my iPad Pro. This is a really great iPad but, if I was being sensible, I would hang out and wait to see if they remove the button from the low end iPads in the next release. I think that would meet most people's requirements.

Valid but the 11" & 12.9" 64/256gb cellular are sold out. Only really the 11" 64/256gb wi-fi and the 12.9" wi-fi 64gb left. Could try Ebay auction for a discount but mediaform is a authorised apple re-seller which gives you the option of buying applecare within 60 days of purchase.
