Cricket on Channel 7

Hello OB’ers, I’m a longtime follower of OB but have only now become an active member, so huge sorries.

Firstly, thanks for all the really handy posts, they’ve saved me many quids.

Now, to my enquiry. My gorgeous bride and I are going to Brisbane this week to see our grandchildren and we are really looking forward to our time with our family. However, I’m a cricket nut so I’m keen to know if I can watch the test match being played at the Gabba from Thursday onwards live on TV in Brisbane.

Some years ago when we we’re in Brisbane the live TV coverage of matches in Brisbane were only shown, I think, for the after-tea session.

Huge votes of thanks for all answers to my question.

Thanks. It looks like it’ll be Channel 7 on mute with live ABC radio on. There’s a real plus with that: the TV is delayed so I can read a book or newspaper at the same time as it’s on and when Jim Maxwell and the team on ABC say there’s something exciting happening (and I don’t expect too much of that from the Aus v Sri Lanka game) I can catch it a few seconds after it’s happened.
For all their faults, the old mob on Channel 9 were, in my humble opinion, better than this new mob on 7. With the notable exception of Brendan Julian, most of the others on 7, and especially Swarne, over indulge themselves in their former glories.

All these people that you have mentioned work for fox and will not/have not been on 7.

      Punter works for 7.

    • Channel 7 cricket and ABC radio unlikely to be in sync properly. Even if it's out by 1 or 2 secs it would be horrible.

      • I think that was the point for OP:

  • Yes, FullPrice, you’re absolutely correct re the names I mentioned - they’re Foxites.

  • It will be on all day. No change to the arrangements that were on Channel Nein.

I know it would be a trade-off on family time, but maybe sneak away for a session at the Gabba, just for the experience.
