Replacing Incandescent 240V 15W E14 Edison Fridge/Freezer Bulbs with LED type.

If the lid of our box freezer falls shut, its incandescent bulb breaks. They're only $1 from ebay for a no name brand, or $6 for 2x Philips at Bunnings: www.bunnings.com.au/philips-15w-e14-pilot-globe-2-pack_p4340… - but it's annoying that they keep breaking. I saw LED types on ebay. e.g. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253919005343 @ 1x for $5, 4x for $14. Does anyone know if LEDs are more robust, or will they break as well?

Comments

  • LED will be fine and more robust to banging of the lid.

  • LEDs are definitely more robust, but they might interfere with the electronics because of the way they act. My fridge, for instance, uses the bulb as sort of a fuse. LED isn't suitable in that situation.

  • Thanks :-)
