Great compensation for those on unlimted text plans…
And all the extra texts will probably bring the network down again :(

    • Not a bad attempt from Voda, but still clearly not fully thought of.

Yeah… It'll be worth nothing to lost… Couple of prepaid customers will be happy…

So…they actually think that they have only had ONE day poor service? Vodafail again.

It's not even a day! It's 12 or 12.5 hours. Benefit to most plan subscribers with unlimited or caps = 0

  • This is NOT a bargain eg you cant buy it, price match it etc- its great bit of info, but belongs in the discussions, where its moved to

what about the telstra free calls to japan deal then? or free cityrail travel on a particular day?

      • The Telstra deal would be available if you joined Telstra (and it went for a month vs 1/2 a day)- which was the incentive or bargain.

By the time you join Vodafone, you may or may not make this deal, and is free sms for 12 hours any sort of bargain? Would many people switch just for this? and given Vodafones record…..

And would Vodafone give it to you as you were not a customer when the failing occurred. Now for something substantial like a week etc this might be worth investigating.

As for free cityrail on a particular day, that's even more a bargain as anyone who wants to travel on that day could get free travel, no other conditions other than wanting to travel on the train. You dont need to have a bottle of coke, vote browns, or a pink suitcase. So thats nothing like this.

And yes sometimes there is a line, and some things are border line.

        • Would people have switched to telstra just to get free calls to japan?

That aside, this is information about a service which normally costs money, but is free for a particular period of tiime, just like free cityrail travel, free calls to japan. Thus it is a deal imho. I think the mods should have let the ozbargain community decide in this instance.

        • Isn't that an argument for excluding the Telstra "deal" in the past rather than reclassifying this one? This one is only available to existing customers. I doubt if a single person will sign up or switch to Vodafail for this 1/2 day freebie. So it's more like a community announcement.

  • GIVE ME A BETTER SERVICE!

How can you compensate 8760 hours of terrible network quality with 12 hours of few text message!!

  • Wow big deal Vodafail! 1/2 day of free sms doesnt make up for the poor quality of service /end rant

  • Don't know why people continue to stay with vodafone. Sure they are saying they will upgrade their network in the near future but having a regularly non-functioning network is grounds for telling them to piss off.

  • Ever heard of contract?

  • Anyone here know how best to get out of my contract? I have over 18 months left.

    • Isn't there a vodafail forum where you can see how other people have done it? I seem to remember some customers managed to get out.

    • Also check out whirlpool there are a number of threads there. www.whirlpool.net.au

Otherwise ring and complain. If they dont give a satisfactory response lodge a complaint with the TIO. Also dont give them too much time to give you the run around. 4 weeks would be more than fair.

With NRMA discount and rebates back from Vodafone as compensation, my 32GB iphone 4 will cost me $720 over a 2 year contract and 2 gb of data pm. So in essence my plan is less than my buying the phone outright and I have 2 years of service with $500 pm calls (albeit not the best service, but given the price it's fine)

BTW when I started to complain I had 21 months left to run in the contract. I dont start paying again (credits to account) until October this year

      • Thanks for your advice ozpete. Just got of the phone to Vodafone and because of my longstanding issues, they have wavered the next 4 months payments on both my phones. They believe that in August, all will be fixed. (at least in the Gold Coast area)

        Here's hoping.

        • Glad it worked out - so far

      • what state/area u live in? im in melbourne, been on vodafone for a month and cant really see what all the fuss is about. my data is quite reasonable on 3g and only had a couple calls drop out. if u want real crap service look at 3! can say for any other state but for melb vodafone and for $60 infinate cap for free iphone 4, cant do beter

        • I'm in NSW. Vodafone don't give out credits just because you complain, it's when you complain and they know the complaints are justified.

So if you are getting good service like you are and should, then you pay. If you don't get the service then why do you pay? Simple maths… or something like that
