Aussie Broadband - Bonus Month of Credit if Pre-Paying 12 Months [Existing Customers from before 18 Aug 2018]

1011

I received this email today. Not as good as the last deal which was a month free for 6 months prepaid or 2 months free for 12 months prepaid but it is better than nothing.

Due to popular demand, Aussie Broadband is once again offering our long-term customers a pre-paid loyalty offer.

Until 18th March, you have the option of paying your monthly broadband bill in advance for 12 months to receive a bonus month of credit on your account (equivalent to an 8% discount).

Bonus credits are not transferrable or redeemable for cash - you can use them to pay any part of your bill including phone call costs, plan upgrades or internet usage.

If you'd like to take advantage of this offer, just click the link below or call our accounts team on 1300 880 905.

Cheers,

The Aussie Broadband team

PS - This is not a contract. You (and we) can still close your account or change your plan during your loyalty offer period. Please see the FAQs on our website for full terms and conditions.

Agreed. I thought about it earlier today after posting and realised I'm not actually missing out on much, if at all.

I actually belatedly got the offer email just now - but thinking about it further in fact it would be LESS risky in many ways to give someone like Superloop a go which for me saves $9 a month - pretty much the same as this ABB prepay discount but without the financial risk. I always have the option of coming back to Aussie Broadband again, possibly even on whatever their current promotional option is (if I've been gone for long enough to be considered a new customer again).

I was offered the deal but won't be signing up. I don't want to prepay (or have the funds right now). Regardless, I don't see it as a great offer.

I would rather get a free month for being a loyal customer for over 18 months who never goes over their quota and always has GBs left over. How about you give me a free month for that ABB?????

  • Superloop offer looks better, $5 discount for an equivalent NBN50 plan with unlimited quota is quite a bit more attractive than this offer.

—- Edit: Now that I'm on Superloop, it appears that their speeds to international servers aren't quite as good. You can see the results yourself here:

The tests were done Tuesday night, 19th Feb at around 10PM AEST.

Might jump back to Aussie Broadband next month…

I must be missing something. This is not a bargain. It's simply trying to get people to loan them money with a 8% return. It comes not without risk of course. If they fold for any reason people could well lose their money. That risk may be small but it does exist. A much smaller company called Telecube also had people pay in advance though in a different way and a lot of people were burned. Go into this deal with some foresight.
I know they have a lot of supporters but I just wanted to highlight the actual reality of what this offer is.
