The next generation of phones (like every year) are about to drop so this is just a way to clear more stock at once rather than discount the phones by $175-$200 which would have been the alternative?

Good phone though now that most of the software bugs have been ironed out.

    • +1

      you mean in October ?

    • +3

They're not about to drop - Pixels come out around October.

    • +1

This phone came out October 18 so with "about to drop"…i guess?! but arent they always about to drop being they are on a 12-month cycle….I guess now that the S10 has been announced, the S11 is about to drop. It's also $350 off each device says OP. So thats $700 savings not $175

      • if you think it worths the still high $849 price tag, just go buy it. I'm not biting, disregarding their poor service and seemingly problematic products

        • uhh ok….my response is clearly in reply to Spiderboy and his odd comments and then you respond to me out of context?

  • +5

It was $899 with a free chromecast before so it's essentially the same deal but now they want you to buy 2. lol.

  • +2

Pixels come out in Oct don't they?

    • sorry i don't get what you are trying to say…it came out mid-october. It's a 4-month old phone and you aren't pulling the trigger because there is a better one coming out in 8 months?

      • "The next generation of phones (like every year) are about to drop…"

Reply didn't attach to first post.

        • oh haha ok soz. makes more sense now

  • This is almost getting to a price that makes them worthit, and it's only if you buy two :-(

  • Never ever get a Google pixel directly from their website. I had a touch screen issue with my Pixel 3 for months which I thought was the screen protector. Finally removed the screen protector because I was frustrated and took the risk of my phone getting scratched. Turned out it wasn't just the screen protector but the touch screen. I accidentally dropped my phone later (despite a cover) the glass chipped on the bottom right side (small chip but the screen functioned normally except in certain areas as before the drop). Google asked me to replace the screen before I could get a warranty on it. I replaced it at a cost of $398. Then Google refused to give a refund for the Pixel 3 for the touch screen issue because I was annoyed at this point by the touch screen issue. They said they would only give an exchange with a refurbished device. Blatant disregard for Australia consumer laws.

If you were also wondering why it cost $398 to replace the screen. Google uses third party repairers as they don't manufacture the phone themselves.

    • I had the same issue with deadzones on the touchscreen. Was a common hardware issue (can look up online). But tbh if you bought it from a retailer (bought mine from Harvey Norman) the process is still the same - they send it to Google and Google assesses it for faults/damages before offering replacement.

      • Yeh I saw the reddit posts on it. They even acknowledged it and offered a replacement but at that point in time I wanted a refund which should have been given as it is part Australian consumer law. If I wanted a replacement then that would be no problem.

  • Anyone have the 64gb Pixel 3 and can comment on whether it is enough for basic apps (bank apps, streaming apps, etc) and a decent amount of photos on the actual phone rather than cloud? TIA

    • Yep it'll do fine for all that, but beware that when you get a pixel you'll want to take a lot more photos than you did before (the camera/portrait mode is that much better). But you can always lower the megapixels. I haven't had to and still have plenty of space.

    • +5

If you want all photos local store. Then not enough. Even 128 only last little longer. Cloud is the way to go. They offer unlimited storage for pixel phone for 2 or3 years. Free.

      • does that 2-years free crossover when you purchase antoher Pixel? or is it jsut 2-years applied to the account once?

        • I think it crosses over; I had to set up a refurbished Pixel 2 to replace my original Pixel 2 and it extended my free storage until 2021

    • enough for basic apps

Yes. Even my Pixel 1 is still snappy for basic apps.

decent amount of photos on the actual phone

Just depends on the amount to be honest. Maybe you can check how large your set of photos is on your current device?

My original pixel has free cloud storage for life (yay). Pixel 3 is free cloud storage until 2022 I believe.

    • if you record at 4K, you'll eat through your internal storage quickly.

  • Pixel 4 xl is the go, I'm sure they'll get it right by then.

  • Pixel 3 XL - 4GB RAM
    Galaxy S10+ - 12GB RAM

    FU google

    • +6

This is silly, the Galaxy S10+ with 12GB RAM is available for preorder on the Samsung UK website for £1,399.00 or 2,571.63 AUD…Ie buying two Google Pixel 3 XL 128GBs is cheaper. Or you could almost get three Google Pixel 3 64GBs for the same price as a Galaxy S10+ with 12GB RAM.

  • Are the prices in the description after the discount? I can't access JB as I don't live in Australia.

  • What a silly way of doing business! Why require people to get 2 phones to get the discount instead of offering a discount on single units?

  • Why buys 2 phones at a time? Obviously my best friends who want to give me one!

  • Can you buy two and return one?

  • Hopefully, this is a sign that Google will have another ~$300 off discount soon.

  • anyone interested in combining for a phone? we pay for 1 each, but buy together for the discount

    • -1

If you're after the Pixel 2 XL 64GB then JB has reduced the price of a single unit even cheaper than this deal. You can buy it now for $799.

      • -1

Pixel 2 shows $999 via. your link.

        • Did you check when I made that comment and when the deal expired? It was available until midnight.

    • I'm but I'm in Sydney (assuming you're in Melbourne)

      • I am also in Sydney, and would be happy to do this with you jjjia. I am close to the JB HiFi in Leichhardt. Find me on gmail, "sebling"

      • Yes Melbourne. But in Syd Tuesday in the CBD (Market St) if you are near we could meet up at lunch to purchase from city,??

      • Hi - not sure if anyone in Sydney is still after one. Looking to purchase the XL 64gb. I work in Sydney CBD near Wynyard station.

  • Anyone in Melbourne interested in combining for the xl 64gb? Or 128gb. We both get a copy of the receipt so all legit just saves us $350 each

    • I'm thinking about getting the 64gb Pixel 3. When would you want to purchase?

      • I'm ready to buy this week (Monday as I'm away for Tuesday). Needs to be the xl model so 128gb is my preference and 64gb second choice. They don't have SD card slots hence the 128gb

More than happy to meet in the CBD and purchase together or highpoint or that side of town…. Let me know. $350 discount is too good to pass up and the offer finishes Wednesday

        • I didn't realise you couldn't mix and match. I'm not keen on the XL and I don't think I'll be able to get to CBD or Highpoint this week during working hours. Sorry.

          • @swooplex: You CAN mix and match, how about after hours? Where in Melb are you? i may be able to drive to you

            • @markryan1971: After hours might work. The only option based on opening hours would be Chadstone. I could do late today-Wed (but you can't do Tues). If that's too inconvenient for you, then don't worry. I can look for another phone. Did you want to PM me if that's easier?

      • Hi, still keen @swooplex?

would you like to PM me as I am new and unable to start a conversation.

        Cheers.

    • Hi @markryan1971,
Are you still interested? I'm in Melbourne working in CBD. So we can club together if you like. the offer ends tomorrow. Lemme know.

  • If anyone wants to meet me at JB HiFi Leichhardt today to buy a 64Gb Pixel each, reach out to me on Gmail, my user name is sebling.

You can keep the receipt, I'll make a copy.

Sorry mate, I don't want to have my email address posted in public space, good luck with your deal

          • @Gobyli: no worries, very understandable. i can't PM you as well,

  • For those who can’t find someone else - jbhifi said if one was returned they would just refund the amount paid for that phone. By all means check before you do it but no need to find another buyer. Just say you’re buying it as a gift and they didn’t want it…..

    • Will they refund in cash or gift card?

      • didn't ask. they have previously returned it straight to the card

  • Anyone in North Brisbane wanting to join up tomorrow? Happy to meet at any JB between Brisbane City and Morayfield.

  • Anyone in the Hills or Macquarie area of Sydney looking to jump in on the deal? I'm in if you are.
