    Kogan is 480GB for $315.
    Double data for $15!
    No international calls though….but whatsapp.
Voda…not telstra though…not great if you are in the country.

    • not great if you are in the country.

hmm… we are not using roaming I guess.. LoL

    • Vodafone can roam to Optus in some regional locations.
Unfortunately is no 'list' of locations, it's more of a 'try and see' approach.

  • Can you switch to this if already on the $30 28day recharge plan

    • Let me know as well if you find an answer…. :)

      • +1

Yes you can. I'm on the same plan and if I go into my boost app and choose recharge I see both 365 day plans available.

        • Oh I don't….because I am on the grandfather plan :(

          • +3

@kiwiinoz: Bring grandmother to join this new plan then… :)

    • yes, just recharge with the 365 day voucher..

    • Yes, i just did mine

  • +15

Alright folks contacted Boost to ask the following:

Me: When do these offers expire?
Agent: We don’t have this information so it will stay active as long as it is on the website.
Me: Can I recharge twice and get 2 years’ worth plan?
Agent: Yes you can, please call us so we can assist you with this request.

    • holy cow… 2 years for $300 is a heck of a deal.

      • +8

To be honest, I vowed to never lock into a 24 month contract given the way mobile plans move. Maybe in 12 months we will see these kinds of prices for even more data.

        • +2

Mobile industry is fascinating to watch.

Most customers used to be on post-paid 24 month contracts but as the MVNOs offered better value many customers migrated to prepaid (and why not, you regain control of excess usage).

The MVNOs raced to buy customers with the best introductory deals (e.g. Amaysim offering $35 cashback on a $10 plan), then they all realised it's a stupid churn game as the mobile market has been fully saturated for years. e.g. Amaysim today announced that they had 124,000 customers expire off their PAYG plans during January and February this year. PAYG is is what all the non-renewing (think OzBargain) customers automatically migrate to.

So now several players offering 365 day prepaid plans, and we're considering buying 2 years worth… effectively putting ourselves back on contracts.

It could turn out to be a good bet if prices rise again… but ATM that looks quite unlikely as all indications are that 5G won't be more expensive because consumers won't pay more when 4G is already adequate.

    • +2

I also called them and the customer service rep answered little differently
She advised this will be a permanent offer from now on (this offer only launched today…)
We could also purchase/pre-order the $2 sim card and then add the $150/$300 pack later on along with port-ins.

      • Different replies by different people - is why I don't like customer service of these small players. Kogan isn't too bad.

        • +1

Boost is hardly a small player.

        • +1

lol. Boost is much bigger than Kogan

          • +1

@bchliu: Not in terms of revenue.. in terms of how their customer care operates. Kogan hasn't disappointed ever. While, Boost, Lebara, Jeenee, Yomojo and Lyca have not been that great in my experience.

      • Like kogan voucher code, we can't buy this deal now and activate later, you have to buy this deal when you want to activate / port to boost.
Fingers crossed when your current plan is going to expire and see whether this deal is available or not.

    • good work mate.

    • +2

I would never thought of asking a question like "Can I recharge twice and get 2 years' worth of plan", you are more of an ozbargainer than I am.

  • how do i buy the 12 month plan as when i select it only takes me to buy the $2 sim card which i did what next ? my plan expires after 25 days so thats when i would like to move on boost…

    • +3

Seems you need to already have a boost Sim to recharge the 12 month. So buy a $2 Sim first. You can grab it at Coles instead of waiting for delivery.

      • Good advice, it really helped (I was time limited as I had to resolve whether I could get out of the catchconnect that I just bought and needed to transfer to today, I wanted a boost sim in my hand in case the boost deal expires soon).

Having said that, Coles was useless (Out of stock), Woolies was useless (Out of stock). Australia Post was where I got it.

  • Wow, how can they afford to pay unlimited international calls?

    • +2

how many ppl actually call o/s non stop? It's more like data call not voice calls made through big carrier, the actual cost is very low and quality suffers at busy times.

      • +2

maybe the case, but let's not forget these days hardly any one using a voice call, might be the marketing gap like 3G, when everyone's on 4G you need someone to fill the gap.

  • My Kogan plan expires in the Dec 2019 so I can't do much, but good to see that there's one more strong competitor offering amazing value in the market. Optus' and Vodafone's of the world should wake up now. It's high time.

    • +2

Errr Optus have a deal $120/12 months unlimited calls text and 60GB data. One of the most popular deals on ozbargain.

  • +1

Why didn't I wait a bit longer?! Already on Optus 12 months plan. Sigh…
At least one of my mates is able to get it. Good for him.

  • +2

this is pure witchcraft and i dont like it.
trying to get everyone on this "sim card deal" like in the first kingsman.

    • +2

      LOL. Paranoia anyone?

    • RUOK?

    • Correction, it was in the 2nd kingsman. The first one was way superior.

      • no…

      • That's not necessarily a recommendation.

  • +4

Plus Cashrewards for 50c cashback for the $2 sim?

  • -1

Pr0n or next level of ecchi anyone?

  • +1

I just purchased optus's $120 prepaid deal last week, is there any chance of a refunding it/cooling off period??

    • +5

Phoned up told them that when i bought the prepaid that shop attendant said it included streaming(which it doesnt), switched to $35 plan, $120 credit back on to my account, using the cooling of period on the plan to switch to telstra…in and out..problem solved

  • Does $200 plan represent a good value?

    • +3

well it would be good value if you paid $200 for the $300 plan.
not so good if you paid $200 for the $150 plan.

      • Sorry just noticed $200 plan is 6 months only. I liked it as it had 150GB data on offer. but 6 months expiry kills it.

  • +6

just spoke to agent over the chat. this is not a promo plan, this is a permanent deal.
I expect amaysim and all will get same deals

    • It will certainly heat up the competition. However, I doubt that will make people that need the coverage go away from boost. I know I just canned the $100/yr Catchconnect for the $150/yr boost (nb: Boost also has more data. But I did it for the coverage as I am in the vast minority that need it)

  • Can we activate this plan on $40 starter pack?

    • I just bought the $10 starter pack because they were out of $2 sims. Now that I'm trying to sign up it'll only let me use the $10 credit on a 7 day 3gb plan. There's absolutely nothing on the sim packet saying you're exclusively buying credit for one specific plan. Gonna call them tomorrow.

So, probably not and I wouldn't risk it.

      • Thanks.

  • -5

If you pay $30 per month by card you get 12x20g plus 5x15g = 315g - $360 for 315g - why is this deal better? am I missing something?

    • +1

All depends if you need that many GB's.

      • Exactly!

    • You mean the $30 prepaid at Boost?

As noted, it depends if you need the data (I don't), but that plan has a 28 day expiry, meaning you need 13 recharges to give you 12 months coverage. 365.25/28=13.04*$30=$391.34 for 12 months coverage.

      • +1

You only need 12 recharges if you set up auto recharge (recharges on the same day of each month).

  • Tried looking for an “add on” data package.
Just in case I get trigger happy with 240gb in the bank.

Can anyone link a “top up” for data if I run out of data within the 365 days?

    • They would probably want you to recharge with another 365 day plan or switch to one of their 28 day plans which would suit higher data usage

  • +8

I think the $100 , 60gb / 6 mths plan more appealing for me. So, end up paying $200 for one year with 120gb in total. I need those overseas unlimited calls

In conclusion, just spend extra $50 compared to $150 /12mths plan and get 120gb instead of 80gb.. that's 50% more data for extra $50
    Am currently on Kogan

    • if the comment about Telstra 5g coming out in 6 + months, this is probably a better for the time being, free calls to 20 instead of 25 countries offer on the 12mth options though

      • Seems like a good value on this 6mths, few months later can still choose other deal if there's better

I'm not concern of 5g as I'm using older phone.

    • This is a better deal in my opinion with larger data pack.

      And 6 month only.

  • boom! i love it!

    • +4

this is boost, not boom. but u can port your number over from boom

  • -4

excellent find mate…am glad that i didnt buy the lebara offer which the guy who posted was boasting about pitty on him now :)

    • +1

What a strange and disturbed thing to say.

      • -2

am sure now u realize when i was telling u the lebara deal is no good…

        • +3

Oh? There is no doubt that this is an excellent deal, I upvoted it. However, the other deal I posted has 48GB more data for $60 less. I don't know how that translates to "the lebara deal is no good…", but then again I don't understand most of what you say, or what goes on in your mind. Nor do I want to.

  • +1

Will get the parents on to this offer!

    Thanks OP

  • Darn. I would easily have bought this, but have the $99/12mo with Catchmobile that I need to activate within a couple of days.

  • Does it have free streaming from xHamster? My wife told me too ask.

    • No

    • -1

It does come with free streaming on xvideos though if that helps….

      • She says that's close enough.😁

    • -5

lol why dont u put your wife on the lebara plan u were pushing for :)

  • +3

First mobile plan in a long time which includes free call minutes to Nepal..Hope this is permanent plan

    • +13

hell yeah. nepal minutes is what everyone is going crazy for right now.

      • why?

      • what??

        • +2

          woosh

  • +3

Damn this sounds better than the Optus deal for my needs.
Does anyone know whether I can return unused / unopened sim from the Optus deal?

    • If anyone's in the same boat, I rang Optus and it does seem like it's possible to get a refund. It does obviously take time and is a hassle though.

      • Can you give me more information as I tried but they refused it. Thanks.

        • Can’t you refuse to accept the terms of use and qualify for a refund?

  • +1

Can you still get NRL/AFL pass if you sign up with boost now?

    • I did just the other day

  • +1

what's the difference between Boost netwrok and Aldi network and Woolworths network?

    • +12

      Supermarkets

    • +3

Boost ‘full’ Telstra network. Others are Telstra wholesale to compete with Optus.. slightly better

      • +2

Honestly, you can’t see the difference between Telstra wholesale and full Telstra network. I used to use Aldi and Woolworths mobile and now Boost. They are all the same unless you live in rural areas.

  • Just clarifying, if I want around 4-5gb per month and unlimited national calls and SMS but couldn't care less about international calls, this 80gb plan is still the best deal going?

    • eh, its still decent but the international calls is probably the big winner of this deal IMO

    • +1

Technically, no. The Optus $120 for the Epic Value $180 special discount is cheaper (but without international calls and texts). But, Boost (through Telstra network) is much better. Not to mention that if they continued this plan next year, it will be $150 (this) vs $180 (Optus - very unlikely you get any discount as an "existing" customer then).

To me $30 over a year to use Telstra instead of Optus network is already attractive. The international calls and texts is a nice extra bonus.

  • +1

I just switched to Telstra prepaid after many months on Optus and surprisingly I find the Telstra network pretty unreliable in Melbourne. My new Telstra prepaid often uses the ancient 3G to access data, an icon I haven't seen on my phone in years. My partner has exactly the same issues in Docklands. I never had this problem with nither MVNOs on Optus or Vodafone. Anyone else?

    • +1

Does you phone have Band 28?

      • +1

Yes, it does. It's an Aussie S9+, so is my partner's.

    • +1

Coverage varies everywhere so saying 'unreliable in Melbourne' makes no sense at all. For instance, in particular parts of Melbourne I get full Telstra coverage whereas Vodafone/Optus struggle to get a single bar of coverage at the same time. If you have issues in your area of coverage then switch.

    • +1

I get 4G everywhere in Melbourne. I think @billy_bob's question about band 28 is relevant.

  • Like kogan voucher code, we can't buy this deal now and activate later, you have to buy this deal when you want to activate / port to boost.
Fingers crossed when your current plan is going to expire and see whether this deal is available or not.

  • Great deal Jason, This deal make me think twice now whether i should sign up to the Woollies S10 deal or just buy this and save my $$$ :(

    • Good on you mate
