G.skill Ripjaws V 16GB 3200MHz $164.68 Delivered @ Newegg AU

200

I've been on the hunt for some faster RAM, around either 3200MHz or 3400. Considering the other deal posted is around the $180-190 mark, this one is a slightly cheaper alternative.

Price appears as $148 but becomes $164.68 after $16.68 GST is added at checkout.

16-18-18-38 timings so probably not Samsung B-Die (so may have mixed luck with Ryzen). Great deal tho!

    • So Ryzen might have trouble getting to 3200, while Intel CPUs would do 3200 fine?

    • I'm interested in some more info too 😊

I have these currently in one of My Ryzen PCs (Ryzen3 2200G on an MSI B450 PRO M2) and they don't get to 3200Mhz. They'll only do 2933Mhz before they cause system crashes, hangs etc.
I've tried them also in my Ryzen7 1700X system on an Aorus GA-AX370-Gaming K7 and they do the same. 2933 Mhz max. This usually runs 32GB of G.Skill Trident Z 3200Mhz DDR4 which hits 3200Mhz without issue.

I would give these a miss if you are wanting to use them in a Ryzen system but YMMV.

        • Hmm, I think this might be indeed a YMMV thing. I'm running a set of Geil DDR4-3200 (same Hynix MFR chips) and it boots fine with a Ryzen 2200G/Crosshair VI Extreme (X370) at spec with latest updates.

          • @Satirical: I’m running 2x16gb of this ripjaws v black heatspreader at 16-18-18-38 on msi b450 pro vdh with ryzen 2600, rock solid at 3200.
It maybe higher quality ram in 16gb sticks though, they are both Hynix chips bought 6months apart.
From what I’ve read there is a chipset limitation on the ram slots you use (once you populate 3 the max speed is 2933) and the non graphics cpu take better maximum ram speeds (check amd support page for your cpu). Ymmv indeed.

            • @[Deactivated]: Hmmm. This is what I am running too. 2 x 16GB sticks on that board and they just won't run any higher than 2933Mhz for me. Looks like I'll have to investigate how to change the timings. I tried running on the XMP profile for 3200Mhz and the PC wouldn't even boot :(

              • @Todes Angst: nah bro, Im saying your G chip wont do it. the graphics parts in the die take your extra memory lanes. it just wont work.

        • I have this running on my x470 Taichi with a 2700x @ 3200mhz on 16-17-18-17-34 timings. Recent AGESA bios updates allow these sticks to be run in XMP mode as well.

DDR4-3200 with those timings are likely Hynix MFR or maybe AFR. Wouldn't find B-die for less than $200 anyway tbh.

  • I have this kit running on my 2600 at 3200mhz. I have not tightened the timings yet and they are a bit lose but it works.

I've got a Coffee Lake 8700K, and already got 16gb 3400Mhz RAM. I wonder if I'll be able to overclock this to 3400?

  • Take care of buying from Newegg. I had to RMA one of my 32gb (2x16gb 3200Mhz) last week.
Bought 2 lots and had to return the other lot. Headaches going through the RMA process from US.

    Cheaper price than Aus nevertheless!

    • Why not send back to G skill? I heard their warranty is great.

      • Ahh.. didn't know. I will next time. Thanks,

  • Shouldn't it be $14.80 GST?

They add a little bit more, it's closer to 11%

      • +2

I thought it was illegal for someone registered for GST to do that.

Seems ram prices are dropping as per reports

    • the bulk of intel motherboards eg the b and h series typically used in offices and non overclocked home applications have max 2666 mhz clock for ram and not much price drop at that end.

  • It's not expired. Still available at that price.

  • Newegg sold RAM out of stock.
