Speakers generally need a break in period before they can deliver their full potential. Try out the display speaker in store as it will give you an idea of the sound quality. I don’t have this speaker so please regard this as a general comment only.
How does this compare to the JBL Link 20? Similar RRPs.

I have noticed, most here are bias to the product they own unless it's a dud.
Plus most said, sounds amazing, then there are few comments says, it's not that great with lots of negatives?

Yeah I was in store. From memory I think it was one blue and two black.
There was also a demo unit which was fixed to a display and not usable. Because I wasn’t unable to test any devices with my own music I didn’t pull the trigger.

The sound signature is definitely different, I have an older Sony SRS-X5 and that thing sounds incredible. I can't put a finger on it yet.
Pros:
- design is very nice, the fabric cover can be taken out to be washed
- UI execution is excellent with the LCD display for clock/volume indicator/download status, 4 dots for Google Assistant and the top LED ring for volume level
- NFC paring is nice to have, Bluetooth button on the side works for other devices tooCons:
- Gestures seem be more of a miss than a hit
- I'm not a fan of the power connector, would prefer USB-C
- Sound is okay, but not good enough for a $249 deviceI had the srs x5 and that's much better than this one.
Price dropping everywhere.. if you want white - its $122 directly from Sony.
