Thoughts on New iPad Air

Was looking at getting an iPad for work use, apple silently released a new iPad last night

Now i'm wondering whether it is worth the extra ~$300 or so over the 9.7 iPad

  • I find it difficult to do any serious productivity work on the iPad (9.7”). Unsure if the new air will be any different. Content consumption is pretty good on the iPad though.

I’m looking to update the wife’s iPad mini. The cellular version has a $200 premium! I find that ridiculously greedy. It’s the apple way unfortunately.

I have an old MacBook Air… I’m locked in the OS X ecosystem… I wonder how easy it is to go back to windows… the Lenovo x1 carbon looks good, and I might even be able to play command and conquer on it when it is re-released!

It’s always been a $200 premium ever since the OG iPad mini.

$1019 for the top specced one is so pricey though … I have the iPad mini 4 which was retailing for $779 for cellular and 128GB

      • sad face. i wonder if you can claim it as a tax deductible even if it is not essential (but could be used) for work.

tax deductibility isn't based on whether it's essential or even a wise choice - the question is whether the expense was incurred in the generation of income.
