Google Pixel 3 Phone Call Issues

Hey guys,

Just wondering has anyone had issues with their Pixel 3 and phone calls cutting out frequently mid phone call?

Have had it already replaced once and my replacement just started doing it too..
It's not the Sim as I don't have any issues in my old xiaomi. The fixes from Google/ online dont work either.

There seems to be a lot of calling issues with the phone with a Google search which is a shame but I haven't seen anyone mention it on here yet

  • I'm having the same issue on my Pixel 2. Only started happening in a recent update because I never noticed it before.

It's always roughly around the 10 minute mark.

    • If it was the 10 minute mark for me it wouldn't be too bad for me but mine starts about 30 seconds in so calling anyone is pointless

Thinking ill ask for a refund and maybe go Samsung if they don't have any solution

      • You could even potentially try opting into the Android Q Beta. It's a little buggy however it would be interesting to see if it solves your call issues.

        • Yeah I'll try giving that a shot, thanks :) I did try the beta version of the phone app and that fixed it for about a week but then started again after that

@shapers: I've also noticed that it mostly occurs when on WiFi so it's probably WiFi calling feature as per below. Super frustrating hey.

When I first got my pixel2 (not 3) the same thing was happening but only at certain times. I turned off wifi calling and it seemed to fix it for me. Not sure if you've already tried that as a fix but yeah.

    • Didn't work for me unfortunately :(

  • No issues here with the Pixel 3

Any chance your case could be an issue? I know my mother in law had similar issues with a iPhone because the caused some problems with receiving consistent reception

    • With no case it's still dropping out (or the person on the other end can't understand me).

Calling through WhatsApp and messenger works perfectly fine though with no drop outs so not sure what's going on with it haha

      • Normal calls don't use internet/data/VOIP

  • Might've issue with WiFi calling… Try turning off that feature

    • Yeah I read that fixed a few people's, unfortunately not this one or the old one though :(

  • Missus has intermittent issues (Pixel 3, Optus) that seem to have slowed down a bit since toggling the wifi calling button.

    • Does it happen every call that she has?
I cant have phone calls with it, every 30 seconds it will cut out for 3-5 seconds

      • Not all times. When it's an issue it generally gets garbled at the 30-60s mark and doesn't get better so you have to hang up.

  • I haven't had that issue (Pixel 3, Kogan network). But I did notice something interesting today (probably unrelated, but I thought noteworthy) – I answered a call, and it got cut off within 20 sec. I checked the Phone app, and the call was labelled as spam. I googled the number, and lo and behold – it was a known spam caller.

  • I have been having this issues since I got the phone in mid Feb (64GB Pixel 3 on Kogan network). It started becoming more obvious and calling just became impossible. Seen the comments above and turned off wifi calling and will see if that works

    • Yeah it's awful. Turning off the wifi calling didn't work for me but I've heard it does work for others too. Currently waiting for my new pixel and 2nd replacement to arrive, hopefully this one doesn't have any issues…
