      Yes, the $40 starter pack can be used any Belong plan of your choice.
      But don't forget you get an extra $20 credit in your account for the referral code, so that means you get 6months of the $10 plan for only $15. :)

    • I don't think so - if the login for the app fails (using your ph number) you would need to use your Telstra ID, which you don't have since you are on Belong, not Telstra.

      Adding promo code when ordering a simple via this link has no effect on your balance.

  • I'm a Belong customer for both nbn and mobile. Can't complain about the nbn. Although I will be cancelling my mobile service with them. The problems and issues I have with their mobile service.

    No voicemail. Just a voice to text message. And obviously they're not using an english transcript. As I cannot make heads nor tails of some of the messages I get.

    Sometimes the phone doesn't ring. Straight to missed call.

    And their customer service line is full of very poorly spoken english reps. I've found myself on numerous occasions. Asking them to repeat themselves. Not once but 3 or 4 times.

  • Sorry, but this is not new.

    I got one of these free SIMS in May last year, but never used it because the "$40 starter pack" for $15 is so much better value.
    You can gift the >30GB to your existing account.

      The main benefit of these free SIMs for existing Belong users (moreso before the $15 deals popped up regularly) was that you could obtain 10 GB for only $5 by choosing the $25 plan, and of course get 2 months extra on your primary $10/month plan you referred it with. If you don't need data you just take the referral bonus for free. When the $15 deal disappeared for a short while, the free SIM was the cheaper option (i.e. vs $17/30 GB). But if you want to maximise data before your 10 referrals are up then it's best to buy any SIM under $20.

      Now that the market's provisions have moved forward, Belong will have to up its data to keep the "real" customers who still pay $40 for just 15 GB while Boost gives 30 GB for the same price on its monthly plan.

        My mistake.
        They don't do ID checks, but technically it is a crime.
        But then I'm Catholic, so technically I can go to hell for self-pleasuring. (true story)

            @netsurfer: Nah, not fake. My family, friends, international visitors, etc.
            Give them a free $40 starter pack (cost $13-15) in exchange for the referral and some data (if they don't need it.)
            Everybody wins.

              If you want to hold other people to high moral standard, then you should avoid enticing other people to do the wrong thing. You could write: You can gift the >30GB to another family member's account.

              If it is wrong to you that other people suggest the wrong way to do things, then you also need to hold yourself to the same standard.

              Anyway, other companies don't have the single account restriction and how about the flaw in the system where if you activated on the billing dates, essentially your first month is basically 8 days (as Belong will charge you another monthly amount within 8 days)?

              • @netsurfer: I see what you are saying re wording. What I actually did was setup account for a family member who did not need lots of data, and did the transfer.

                I was thinking about how some people were effectively creating contracts in false names for financial gain.
                You may see it as a legal technicality.

                  Please try not to assume. First, I have not obtained any free Belong Mobile SIM ever - ZERO. Also, I don't see why most people would bother with a fake ID setup as this is essentially a postpaid mobile service.

                  Not only it is wrong to use fake ID, it is actually a waste of time doing so. Belong plans are all postpaid plans and their customer support is slow to manually cancel. Port out seems to be the most efficient way to terminate the contract. Pretty much all other providers use electronic verification, fake ID simply won't work. Let's not forget, you do need to put in your credit card details in order to activate a Belong SIM.

                    The argument was about law, not ethics except for the ethical implication of crossing a technically (potentially) criminal line.
                    Not that the act itself is innately so bad.

                    It depends on the purpose. In law, using fake id is only prohibited in particular circumstances.

    I believe this is postpaid not a prepaid.

    Are we getting billed on your 3rd month automatically if you dont port out or close account before the billing date on the 3rd month?

    Easy to forget to port out before the free 2 months expired

    I guess we need to inform everyone that they will get billed if they forgot to port out or close stop the service before the 3rd billing cycle.

    Can someone using this confirm?

      Correct.
      If you forget to port out or put in a request to close your service before the third billing date,
      you will be charged upfront for the third month.

      Make sure you request at least a couple business days before your billing date, and that you do receive an email from the system saying they have received your request, just to be sure.

  • So just to get this straight, if I use a promo code when signing up then I can get a 2 month 1GB data + unlimited calls plan (with the $20 credit at signup)? Is there any way for the 3rd month to be free too? If someone signs up with my promo code then can I get another 2 months of this same plan free or does it just give me data? So if I was to want to make calls in the 3rd month would I need to then spend at least $10 regardless of how much data I have been gifted and banked?

      For every referral, both parties get $20 credit, which goes towards your monthly fees. But, there is a limit of max number of referrals where you receive the credit (I think it is 20? could be 10 - cannot remember).

      You will have to pay a monthly fee even if you only want data and still has plenty of data from previous months.

        Ordered a free sim with my existing account (disconnected service). No confirmation emails, but sim arrived several days later.

        Tried to activate it (new number) 3 times but got 3 different errors:

        “There was an error processing your request.” (9am)

        “We had some issues trying to sign you up. Please try again in a moment.” (4pm)

        “Opps, something went wrong. Please try again later.” (9pm, all in the same day)

        So maybe the answer is no.

  • Did anyone get an activation error? I was using my PC and using a new number. After going through the forms it told me "We couldn't connect your service" and tells me to open a support ticket. This is really annoying, I was hoping to use it today.

    • Im on the same issue. I get activation issue after submiting.

      After opening a ticket, it says reposnse is with in 24hrs…. very annoying and im porting my existing number so no choice but to wait.

      I assume it will get resolve in a few more days as communication is only via support page and response time is 24hrs.

      I should have spend $1 on amysim instead and have webchat support and a phone number to call.

      • It's resolved for me now but its hella annoying. With amaysim if they had anything like this it would have been easier to fix with the webchat support. The lack of turning off auto renewal is also really annoying too.

          They do not have phone and webchat support.

          If you sned then email via support on website, they do not reply if they received your request for assistance.

          How reliable they will stop the billing on time if you do not get a response from them, in my case it has been 4 days now.

      • Yeah, I had to send a support ticket through the website. I'm still not sure if I got the $20 credit in my account but I can see it credited in the service history.

          i see the credits mention in history but from payment it says i need ot pay $10 by tomorrow so i am worried they miht charge my paypal,

          Wwhat i did is i cancel the automatic payment in paypal so any charges gets denied by Paypal.

    I have not received the email until now. How long it takes for the email to arrive?

  • How long does it take for referrer credits to appear? My friend signed up with my referral code 4 days back, he got $20 credit upon activation but I haven’t received anything as of now.

    • One of my friends signed up on March 22. he got his $20 credit but I am still waiting for my $20 referral credit. In the history tab there is a note that I am due the $20 credit but it has not hit my balance.

    Looks like a lot of headache for a free sim/2 months service.

    I register using an existing SIM and after completing registreation with referal code - it encounter an error after submission and advice to contact support.

    But there is no way to contact support only thru support page and it says response is 24 hrs.

    What a slow painful process to port an existing number…..

    It has been lamost 5 days now since i requestto get a sim, no email no sim arriave.

    I open a ticket online, no reply for about 4 days now.

    I tried using my esiting Belong sim i had long time back and it is not accepted since it says i have a pending order.

    No phone number no chat support to contact….
