  • NEw suits or a phone.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…why do this to me, world?

    • +5

Donald Trump made millions after getting a new suits
      I'd say new suits.

      • +6

Donald Trump would’ve made much more money by taking his dads money and getting the average stock market return. Get the phone.

        • -1

          Don’t be jelly.

      • +4

New suits certainly won't hurt, but then you still have to organise the Russian contacts.

        • +1

It also helps to screw everyone who works for you and make sure your money isn’t involved when you bankrupt your companies.

      • +2

He also bankrupt 6 times after getting new suits..
He's getting even more suits now - law suits!!

    Government 30% off is working

    • Government?

      • +5

Sorry I guess I should've specified, Australian Government

    • +1

For gov ppl you need to do a search on the s10 for it to show up. It's then it shows up as a preorder that ships late March.

  • +4

For the Coles one, you need to be logged into mycoles first, otherwise it will just redirect to Samsung's online store and won't show the discount. In mycoles, go to mybenefits/Hot Deals for more info.

  • You're killing me ozbargain. I said I wasn't going to get a new phone until the end of the year.

    • +1

It's end of financial year soon, sorted!

      • Lol

    • +1

The summer equinox was on 21/3 so its a new year already (if a druid)

      So go for it.

  • did anyone actually get teh 50% off telstra EPP deal?

a lot of talk about it but never saw anyone that got one

    • Staff only.

      • isnt EPP technically for staff only as well?

    • I offered $150 extra for their time to get me an s10+ code and got no bites.

      • +9

Obviously. Anyone would easily be able to get more than $150 if they just bought the phone (at 50%) and sold it themselves.

      • Samsung specifically told us not to resell codes. Someone may have done it for you but we weren’t supposed to

        • Codes are account tied

    • -2

It was only for Telstra Staff of retail stores; not all Telstra employees.

      • +2

Na it was all Telstra employees. They send an email around head office. I got one

        • Do you know if it is still on?

          • @try2bhelpful: Yes, have to register and complete the training before the 5th of April if I recall and complete the purchase before the 30th April.

    • +1

Was able to get it. It was a bit more involved, had to watch some videos and do a quiz. Also had to be working for Telstra retail (store or head office) or one of the Vita owned stores. It also took over a week to get the code.

      • +9

for 50% off, id watch 10 videos!

    • Typing this from my 50% off s10 dual sim

      • Is that an international model, or are all the new S10 range dual sim now?

        • As far as I know, 512 GB and 1 TB versions are hybrid SIM i.e., 1 SIM + 1 microSD or 2 SIMs - at least for S10+.

        • +1

S10 512GB is hybrid sim. S10+ 512GB and 1TB is also hybrid sim.

    • Yes…I ordered s10+
Knows many other who has ordered as well

    • They did. And they are getting this 30% off from quite a while as well.

    • +1

Ordered 10+ premium but only ships on 11th April

    • Yes you have to register Samsung plus using the information in Yammer, then complete 3 quizzes, then you wait for a day or two they will email you a coupon. I got a s10e for $599.50.

      • Was there any specific quizzes that you had to do IV done about 7. Couldn't see any videos which Poppin mentioned above? Do I now just wait for the voucher?

        • Yes wait for a few days.

          • @xinsnake: Can somebody please clarify how many quizzes you needed to take and how long it took to get the code?
I completed 3 x S10 related quizzes in March, still to receive the code. Also was there any confirmation after the last quiz that you will get a code?

      • Hi xinsnake. could you please tell me what to do next. Should i be an associate member of any other company in order to access this quizzes. I have just sign up for samsung plus but could not find any survey. Thanks

    • Typing this from my S10+ for $750.

As good as the offer was it was limited to only 1 code per person. I can also imagine a lot of people who would rather not mention it to avoid getting inundated with messages asking for a code, a lesson I've definitely learned…

    • +3

when you sell it in a year.

Or you know, just keep it for 3 years.

      • +1

Can the battery last 3 years with heavy usage?

        • If not using a fast charger all the time, yes.

          • @greatlamp: I always fast-charged my S8+, every day for almost 2 years (10-20% -> 100%) and battery health was still at 94.5%. Fast wireless charging would probably do a lot more damage with the extra heat though.

            • @donnot: how do you check battery health? Which app are you using?

              • +1

@lostn: Used to use this phone info app. Keep swiping left until you see the battery health info.

                • @donnot: I just tried that app. It tells me my 2 year old S8's battery health is 99.8%.

                  LOL.

                  As if.

It also told me my S6 was 94.7%

                  Does not sound realistic.

                  • @lostn: Have you reset recently? My screen-on time was almost identical to when new, so it seemed accurate.

EDIT: I was testing on Android Oreo, may be issues with Pie if that's what you're running?

                    • @donnot: My S8 is running Pie, but my S6 is running Android 7.

I don't think it's an accurate reading. When my S6 was new, it had super good battery life. 1.5 years later, it was still able to get me through the day, but I had less battery at the end of the day than in the early days.

I did not reset either phone recently.

          • @greatlamp: Or if using a fast charger all the time 😉

        • replace battery.

        • Probably semi-unrelated but my S7 Edge's battery is rated at 80% by AccuBattery app which serves both as a work, personal phone and being through some outdoorsy activities like salt water (didn't know it was salt water), snow and some long driving trips.

          • @Speedz: How long have you had it for?

I have one since release (2.5 years) and checked my battery is at 72%

            Still lasts all day though.

80% is borderline where a replacement is recommended

            • @greatlamp: I probably had mine as long as you did.

I had it on contract around Oct 2016 right after my LG POS G4 suffered a sudden death, Googled it apparently it's a common fault with one of CPU core and you stuck at boot.

Anyway I'm still thinking whether I should replace the battery and screen because for the cost of battery and screen replacement (I prefer genuine) I probably get a brand new spanking S10 instead.

        • +1

Do what I did and take your phone to a Samsung kiosk just before the warranty expires. I did that 1mth before the expiry and was able to get the battery and the mother replaced after they did a diagnostics. Phone was back in my hands in Just over a day.

          • @BlitzR: not everyone lives in a city you know

          • +1

@BlitzR: Wow they replaced your mother? Do you know if they also replace mother-in-laws? If even just take a trade-in credit

How much is the S10+ 128gb?

    • +1

      $1349.10 on government portal

      • $400 difference for the plus model.. jeez

      • I'm seeing the S10+ 128GB at $1199.20

      • $1199.20 for Coles. Looks like I got 20%

      • Government only gets 10% apparently for the S10+

    • +1

$1274.15 through Education portal. I get a different offer there, I get flat $250 off instead of a %

      • Where is the educational portal?

          • @IceCreamBandit: Cheers. I finally got the gov.au portal to work but good to know there is an education one too.

            • @1mmy1mmy:

I finally got the gov.au portal to work

Is that with an @education.nsw.gov.au teacher's account? If so could you please PM me how you did it? I know teachers have that 'Google' account but do not get their emails through it as they have their normal .edu.au address.

Just wanted to see if the .gov.au portal is cheaper.

              • @IceCreamBandit: Hmmmm I'm not sure exactly what you mean because I'm in Victoria. We have one .edu account and one .gov account.

When I tried the .gov address yesterday I had no luck. The verification email wouldn't come.

I signed up for the educational portal and I could verify it right away.

Then I saw that NSW comment and tried again with my edumail - it worked instantly. I have no idea why…

                Good luck:)

                Edit: it is cheaper!

    • 128GB isn’t even showing on the Westpac portal, 512 and 1TB only.

      • +2

If you change colour it shows different storage sizes. I can see 128gb on Government portal if I pick green or white.

        • +1

Oh yeah, I see now. Cheers :)

          Showing $1199.20 for me too!

    • It's $1199.20. Need to manually search for that one, instead of going through the default/special page. Single SIM model though.

  • wait for $700 for S9 or $944 for S10??

    • +8

S10 easy… Think of it this way, you're getting a much better phone, twice the ram, twice the storage, better main camera plus a wide angle and zoom camera etc etc for $244 that you'll make most of back in resale vs an S9 anyway.

      • true but I just came bring myself on spending almost $1K on a phone :(

        • I thought the same thing. Then I realised I spent way more than that on a laptop which I use about half as much…

        • +1

In the current age 1.5k is getting typical for a flagship. This is a rare Uber deal.

    • -5

If you want to stand out, then sure go ahead with the S10 and splurge the $250. But if you just want a solid tried and tested phone, just go with the S9 and maybe get yourself a solid pair of wireless Bose/Sony headphones with that extra cash. :)

      • +3

S9 will age a lot quicker than the S10 due to the 4GB ram vs 8GB ram. 4GB ram came in with the S7 so 8GB will be the standard for a few years now most likely.

        • -4

This model (S10) - 128GB storage, is listed as having 6 GB of RAM - you get the 8GB if you buy the 512GB model….so, not as good as expected.

          • +1

@TheMoose: No, don't know where you are reading that but it's incorrect. ALL retail S10 models are at least 8GB, S10e is the only one with 6GB.

            • -3

              @Binchicken22: Two things:

              1. Look at the model names - eg. Prism White 6/128 SM-G973FZKAXSA
That 6/128 is not just there for looks.

              2. Google the model - eg. SM-G973FZKAXSA and find a site that actually shows you the spec's (eg. Hardly Normal's site) and it says 6GB.
Unfortunately the Samsung site itself just gives a 404 when you try to get to the spec's page (friggin' typical).

You might want to double-check if you plan on buying one.

Great to see the heroes neg my post without providing alternative proof. #gutsy

      • username checks out

    • +1

The s10 will get at least one more official major android update than the s9 will. It also runs a LOT smoother if you are using DeX as the extra RAM matters a lot more than day to day phone use. The s10 might also retain better value if trading in for an s11 or s12.

Having said that I am still angry we got the crappy exynos version.

    • S10 for sure.
