    available in store too ???

i'd never buy shoes online unless they were exactly the same shoe & size i'd bought before… there's too much variance in the fitting…

  • try in store than buy online. Great quality shoes!

try in store than buy online

Because of people doing things like that retail stores are finding it hard to make money and stay open.

If you want someone to help you and get things for you to try on then buy it in the store.

Only the other day i was in a store and watched someone have a sales person set aside over $1000 of clothes after spending about 45 minutes trying things on and then tell them they were going to buy it all online.

I could tell the sales person was furious.

      • Sounds Fair .. Unless Gerry Harvey's surname forms part of the store name!? :P

      • i think retailers have trouble staying open because the banks squeezed the landlords who then squeezed the retailers.. who then squeezed the consumer. GFC hit, now the process seems to be reversing as consumers save around 10% of take-home pay compared to nearly nothing a few years ago.

anyway, online sales still make up only microscopic slice of consumer spending.
so, i don't think 'people doing things like that' can blamed for retail stores finding it hard to profit off consumers. (although.. i do sometimes wonder how they get stats for my international purchases)

      • LOL. Most likely an idiot wanting to make themselves feel superior by telling the salesperson ("the rep") they can get it cheaper online? I'm sure though that most of us here are smarter than that (am I right?!) and won't rub their faces in it since they can't do anything about it in most cases.

    • I openly asked the person about the 50% sale in-store before trying.

She said she couldn't do it, but was happy for me to try a few pairs on for size.

It's all the same company anyway - and my correspondence with the head office seemed to confirm that.

Bought two pairs last time and couldn't be happier. They are super comfortable.

      • WOW!!! That's some great service! +1 to that store (mind if I ask which one it was?)

        • It was the store on Bourke St in Melbourne.

    • try in store than buy online. Great quality shoes!

they don't sell the same models… (most of them anyway…)

  • I think the site has been ozbargained - "The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

  • Unless they've changed the rules since the last 50% off sale, you can purchase online and are allowed to swap (once from memory) in store.

I ended up doing that. The shoes were slightly tight so I went in store and swapped it for 0.5 sizes larger, all good.

not any more, as stated in the T&C:

"Online purchases are not able to be returned or exchanged in our retail stores ."

      • Indeed, I shot them an email and they confirmed it. It's because they want the operations separated (retail vs online).

  • Thanks, bought a pair online for work. Hope they fit ok!

  • So slow…

What do these shoes go for anyway?

  • Just got an update email from them. Use the code "lastpairs" to receive the 50% off. Only applicable to items in the "sale item" category. Will edit the main part. Looks like somebody forgot some vital info off the first email :)

Bloody website is down because you posted this on OzBargain.

OP, can you at least wait a few hours before posting this up next time. It'll give the true bargain hunters time.

  • anyone else get 5 emails the same from Florsheim??

    • ^ Yes. I got like 5 emails from them too! I went to the store and they had the sale there too but the pair I wanted wasn't on sale in store and was on sale online. So I had to buy them online and pay for postage. Still a good deal regardless. I love Florsheim shoes.

      • is it 50% off in store as well?

        • Crap. Got my shoes and lo and behold they were sent from the same store that said that they weren't on sale at 50% off. I could have saved myself the postage fee.

  • Do dress shoes fit one size below that of sneakers/runners?

Never thought of it like that.
I got measured in a Florsheim store two years ago said I was a 8.5 measured in an Athletes Foot store said I was a 9.5….. (but then might be one's AUS the other's US, might have to check.)

Just checked my runners are a 10UK 4E, 10.5US (NewBalance) (but I remember being measured as 9.5 and asked for the bigger one cause it felt more comfortable) and my Florsheims are a 8.5EE (as for the E's I don't know on second thought my runners do feel a little big width wise)

      • Thanks. I'm assuming the sizes on the website are in US or are they in UK?

  • Too bad they don't have any slip-on's.
Love my old pair "the Bradford" lasted me a good year a half of bashing it daily at school. (I know I shouldn't do that with good leather shoes but when they cost the same as a pair of school shoes I know what I'd pick)
