    Cheers. Bought 5.

    • And with an additional $250 eftpos gift card ! Much better deal if it's the same model

    • Sells for $5,996 at BingLee if anyone missed it: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/7275645/redir

      • its so ridiculous 6-10k for a 65" tv, just like mobiles they're seeing how high they can push it

        • +1

I agree but I thought it was worth mentioning the cheaper price at BL, just in case someone wanted that TV.

          • @Pielo: yeah true.. was just thinking outloud lol

8K doesn't seem like a great deal considering that there are like 12 8K videos on youtube and pretty much no other content. And 8K on a 65 inch screen seems stupid. I doubt you'd be able to tell any difference from a 4K at a standard viewing distance. Step it up to 100 inch and maybe you'll see a difference.

    • -1

      it upscales 4k content.

      • +4

Most 4K blurays are upscaled from 2K already…

      • Either you work at JB HIFI (or the like), or have been sold the BS.

    • +2

At this time, only stupid people who want to flash their cash would buy this. Not near enough content to justify it.
Besides, for 8K, anything below 75 inches seem redundant. Might as well buy 4k.

      • i want a 32k 43'' monitor for gaming

    • -2

Might be interesting for PC users who won lottery and just cannot live without playing games in 8K.

      • +1

I think they’d want a higher refresh rate

  • No other 8K tv's have this sale, looks like it is only for the 65" model

  • Are there 8k OLED TV'S?

    • Nope, they're high end LCDs, or as Samsung calls them 'qled'

      • +1

        Oh really?
So you spend all that and not even get OLED?

        That's silly isn't it?

        • +3

Not necessarily, LCDs can achieve better peak brightness, required for a good HDR experience, particularly if you're in a bright room.

Also, no burn in. They both have (dis)advantages.

(To be clear, I'm not saying you should buy one or the other, personally I think 8K TVs are silly)

          • @Tigerhacker: Ah right.
            I forgot all that stuff.
How much better is Samsung's qled vs say a Sony x range led?

If you want me to read rtings i will.

            • +1

@iamhurtin: There's more than one model of qled as there are more than one model of Sony x. The new Samsung q90r (4k model) supposedly closes a large gap that OLED had around viewing angles and blacks.

              • @F-22: LCD hasn't closed the gap on the last plasmas yet, you know, the ones that are now 7 years old!

                • @R00D: Besides blacks I'm pretty sure it beats it in many ways including power consumption, thinness, brightness not to even mention newer technologies that have emerged since like HDR. Now with the Samsung q90r its not even that far behind in blacks either.

            • @iamhurtin: You'll have to read rtings, I know about the tech but not the specific models :)

Cheers, now I can finally watch MKBHD in all his glory

  • Selling for $5,996 at BingLee with code PBLEE

Dude at good guys said they sold 3 first week
    All to corporate customers.

You you throw up a spreadsheet on that bad boy, and you, are really looking at that spreadsheet!

    • corporate customers who shop at the good guys… Gold Coast?

    • Power users like me, currently running 4k 55inch tv as a monitor, ah to think what i could do with my desktop with 4 times the size of my current 4k desktop =]

  • A genuine discount or just the start of the price drops?

  • Thanks OP, only bought 1 this time, saved some for other bargainers :D

  • As if anyone on here could/would buy that.

  • Seems relatively cheap for a new generation 65" tv.

I remember when Full HD and 4k launched it was nearly double this price.

  • Videophiles have reviewed and claim 8k benefits are not distinguishable at >2m. No one sits that close.

Pointless. As is 4k from conventional viewing distances on panel TV (3.5-4.5m) over HD. This is all just to sell more panels, plain and simple.

8k will never be able to be streamed, not on our rubbish broadband. Req, consistent connection > 50mbps.

This is an LCD too, doesn't matter what resolution it is, OLED will always provide a superior experience overall.

"It upscales content to 8k" is the line all the salesman are told to use… Tell them to put the same content (HD or 4k) on the non-8k panel next to it, you'll see they're full of shit.

    • @Ripped - There’s some 8k content on YouTube and I’ve had no issues being able to stream this ( in 8k resolution) but I am on a 100mbps connection NBN.
