  • When you pay in AUD, why do we get charged an amount higher than the AUD stated on the site?

    • GST? International transaction fee on your credit card?

  • +1

Price should be updated to include GST as the titled price of $332 AU is unattainable, as OP states in the description.

    • +2

      Comes to A$365.17 at checkout.

  • +2

Shipping states 43-60 days…I know the description says it took only 11 days and from Sydney….but OMG…..you wouldnt risk it taking two months before you can complain.

Keep in mind the Global ROM is installed by the seller which requires unlocking the bootloader. Things like Netflix won't work due to the bootloader being unlocked.

    • Pretty sure you can lock the bootloader back once you have flashed the Global ROM.

    • May I know where does it say Global ROM is installed by the seller, not from the factory?

      • The factory does not reflash them.. would be pointless when they are producting genuine global units too.
From the product link provided by the OP …
"2.What version do you sell for?
It's Chinese version. The model name on the box is Redmi Note 7 Pro.
        3. Is it global ROM? Does it have multi-language and Google Play?
For Redmi Note 7 Pro, It has two types now, Chinese ROM and global ROM. Chinese ROM doesn't have multi-language, it has only English & Chinese and Google play. But we can flash the global ROM. Global ROM has multi-language and Google Play, and it can update by OTA. You can choose one type of Chinese ROM or global ROM. Chinese ROM one is cheaper. Global ROM one is more expensive."

        • I did not mean factory reflash it, I meant if they are selling Global ROM version flashed from the factory, which is a genuine Global version. Point 3 from your explanation shown that it is not a genuine Global version, but "International version", aka Chinese version flashed with Global ROM.

You can check the bootloader locking status on your XiaoMi Phone:
Enable Developer options. Then goto Developer option->Mi Unlock Status.

          • @fatice: "May I know where does it say Global ROM is installed by the seller, not from the factory?
            Look at this listing…
            https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Global-ROM-Xiaomi-R…

Scroll down to "Pls read me before you make order."
            In that one it says..
"we will open the original box to check the phone and install Multi-language ROM and Google play store.Official rom will be prefered.if custom translation may does not cover all the menus. Not support OTA update. We may update the ROM,so the OS version may different as the screenshots."

In that product description it does not mention Global Version but states "Global ROM" which is always an indicator that it is a reflashed CN unit.

Now to throw a curve ball into the mix… if you look at the photos provided in the feedback from their customers it shows the actual item received is a genuine global version M1901F7G..!!

            Crazy & confusing for buyers.

            • @Cheeper: At lease, they tell you beforehand. Lots of eBay seller just say: Its International version running Global ROM. It has our QC sticker on it. (i.e. they opened it for "quality check").

BTW, the page was not loading that segment until I scroll down the page. That is tricky as well.

              • @fatice: ??? But in this case it is not a reflashed cn version… It is a genuine global one.

                • -1

@Cheeper: To clear this matter up once and for all, a few sellers are doing this. You have to read though several pages for reviews to find a techie who actually knows the difference between locked and unlocked and has bothered to actually write this in feedback. I've found a few references to this.

And there is a difference between Global Version and Global ROM. Keep in mind that Xiaomi said some time back that this model (Redmi Note 7 Pro) will never be released as a Global Version.

The Global ROM is the Indian market ROM. These seller take the CN hardware, unlock it, flash it and ship it. Hence why there can be a bit of a delay in case they need to prepare the phone.

              @Cheeper: M1901F7G = Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

Your link is also to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

We are talking about the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro

              • @mrhugo: Mrhugo… If you look at my first comment you will see I was replying to a question from fatice.
His question was N O T referring to any specific Mi model phone.
I know it linked to another phone.. there was a reason for it… read the comment.
The advice you give above is very common knowledge.

  • which Xiaomi phones have NFC and band 28 nowadays???

    • IIRC, the Mi Mix 2s is one of the rare ones.

These unofficial Global ROM are horrible.

    • I was using my Mi Max for 2+ years without knowing its an unofficial Global ROM. It was great.
I did not realize it is an International version until I checked it on https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei.

I am not sure why they became horrible now other than Xiaomi prevent cross region phones from relocking their bootloader.

      • -1

There is nothing unofficial about this ROM. It's the ROM used in the Indian market and it is produced and developed by Xiaomi and supports OTA. There is nothing community about this ROM.

  • Does anyone know if when the CN version is flashed with a Global rom does the model number shown in About Phone change to a model number ending in G?

  • I bought the 4 GB / 64 GD version phone in India for 280 AUD ( 13,999 INR) with 1 year Local Warranty.
    https://www.mi.com/in/redmi-note-7-pro/

    • Did you buy it in India, when you were there, or through the flash sale in the link you provided?

  • +1

Be careful buying a phone with vendor modified rom . Can be a minefield if you are not confident changing to another rom.It will become a $300 paperweight just like that.

    • Oh for crying out loud! It's not a modified ROM.

For anyone that wants so save some coin, just get the CN version which has CN and English and just remove whatever CN apps you can and install Google Play. If that's no good, unlock the bootloader and install the Fastboot ROM ONLY!.

      https://miui.blog/redmi-note-7/miui-10-global-stable-rom-fas…

      • mrhugo…. ernest was N O T saying it has a modified rom at all.. he was just warning others against them in general.

I suggest you re-read his comment again. Maybe check his 8th word. I didn't think the English language was up for interpretation.

It's just CN hardware with the bootloader unlocked which allows them to flash the Indian market Global ROM.

Also if you're good enough to unlock a Xiaomi bootloader then flashing it is a piece of cake.
